What Is Your Company’s Message for 2014? We interrupt this programming to bring you the following message… It’s a new year, the perfect time to implement a fresh start! As a business owner, by now you should have already decided upon your company goals? But more importantly, have you shaped your company’s key messages?

What are Key Messages? Well-defined, concise, and memorable thoughts aligned with company goals and objectives Basic, short, and understandable points that are effective when delivering to the public Structured, strategic, and consistent distribution of information to ensure overall company achievement Simply put, key messages are expressions utilized to express who you are, what you do, and why you exist as a company!

How to Develop Your Company’s Message. In developing your company message, it is critical you define the purpose of your message. You must also be mindful of your audience and the intent of your message. Do you want your message to inform, incite, or call to action? Your message should aim to highlight your company uniqueness and the benefits of doing business with you. Of course your message must support your mission.

Craft Messages to Motivate! 1. 2. 3. 4.

What do you want people to know about your company? What do you want your audience to say about your company? How does your message relate to your audience? How does your message reflect your brand?

When crafting your message, make it believable and consider some personal experiences to make it relatable. Be sure to consider questions as to why your audience should care and why they should act. A key message is a strong statement about an organization’s belief about itself. It can also be a strong statement about a particular issue. With any company message, ensure the entire company is speaking in ‘one voice’. We sidetracked to bring in the New Year, but the second most popular request was to answer questions surrounding social media. Stay tuned, that’s in our next issue!
