MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGING DIRECTOR
This edition of ResourceCo’s Full Circle proudly includes recent highlights from across our business, many of which are milestones to not only us, but also the broader resource recovery industry.
The new facilities, plants and equipment we’ve commissioned across the country in recent months will drive improved landfill diversion performance for businesses and councils, displace fossil fuel use by heavy industries with the products we manufacture and create new opportunities to abate carbon emissions. At a time when all eyes are on sustainability performance and impending mandated climate change reporting, ResourceCo’s growing capabilities present more opportunities to our growing customer base than ever before.
Two of our major milestones in recent months stand out as genuine game-changers for the way in which resource recovery will contribute to a more sustainable future. Our new resource recovery facility in Brisbane (Hemmant), is the first facility of its type in Queensland, capable of diverting up to 250,000 tonnes of material from landfill each year, and our new tyre recycling facility in Perth (East Rockingham) is the most technologically advanced and versatile site of its kind in Australia, capable of re-manufacturing over 40,000 tonnes of end-of-life tyres into new products.
Our East Rockingham facility also doubles as an important part in Tyrecycle’s national leadership when it comes to recycling Australia’s off-the-road (OTR) tyres. Historically discarded in mine pits, these huge mining tyres present enormous opportunities for improved sustainability practices for Australia’s mining industry. As our dedicated OTR tyre recycling facility in Pt Hedland is nearing completion, we recently celebrated our partnership with Alcoa Australia when our first load of OTR tyres arrived at East Rockingham.
Throughout this year ResourceCo has grown substantially, none of this would be possible without the committed people within each of our teams. Our leadership development program, newly established Cooper Reid Cadetship and safety awareness focus campaigns (‘Safety Starts With Me’) bring our people together to share ideas, learn and grow. Across Australia and Asia we have fantastic teams of committed and agile people, I am grateful and proud of not only what we achieve, but importantly the way in which we achieve it.
I trust you’ll enjoy reading about ResourceCo’s most recent highlights in this publication.

BOOSTING BRISBANE’S RESOURCE RECOVERY
RESOURCECO’S LANDFILL DIVERSION EXPERTISE EXPANDS INTO QUEENSLAND WITH ITS NEW $70 MILLION FACILITY, SIMULTANEOUSLY DECARBONISING WASTE MANAGEMENT AND CEMENT MANUFACTURING.
ResourceCo Energy CEO Henry Anning on site at the new resource recovery facility in Hemmant.
The new facility in Hemmant is slated to achieve 95% landfill diversion by recycling waste from Brisbane and south east Queensland businesses and councils.
ResourceCo Energy Chief Executive Officer Henry Anning said it is exciting to open such a unique facility within Brisbane and the south east Queensland market.
“Queensland has one of the lowest state-wide resource recovery rates in Australia. ResourceCo’s new site presents councils and businesses with a new opportunity to manage their waste in a more sustainable manner by diverting it away from landfill” he said.
“At this facility ResourceCo will receive waste that has previously only been able to go landfill. We’ll separate recyclables, then produce an alternate fuel that replaces coal as an energy source for high energy using cement manufacturers.
“We expect this facility, situated only 15km east of the Brisbane CBD, to divert up to 250,000 tonnes of commercial, industrial and construction and demolition waste away from landfill every year
“Every tonne of this waste that we divert from landfill saves one tonne of carbon that would be released
through methane at a landfill. This is in addition to another tonne of carbon emissions saved by cement manufactures who use our fuel to replace coal.”
The facility, which took seven years from conception to operation, will contribute to the sustainability efforts of a wide range of organisations generating and handling waste.
“This facility allows a whole range of councils, businesses and developments around Brisbane to achieve landfill diversion targets that weren’t previously possible,” he said.
“Mandatory climate-related reporting is upon us and business, councils and communities are increasingly aware of their greenhouse gas emissions. Facilities like this will help businesses and government reduce their scope 3 emissions by diverting their waste from landfill.”
The fourth facility of its type operated by the company across Australia and Asia, the establishment of the new Hemmant plant was supported with funding from the Queensland Government’s Resource Recovery Industry Development program.

SETTING A NEW BENCHMARK FOR
THE IMPORTANCE OF GOVERNMENT-LED PROCUREMENT AND ITS EFFECT ON INDUSTRY INVESTMENT INTO NEW RECYCLING TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT CANNOT BE UNDERSTATED.
This was a key message as Tyrecycle celebrated the official opening of its newest facility this year - the largest and most versatile tyre recycling site in Australia.
Located in East Rockingham, 40km south of Perth, the new facility includes Tyrecycle’s first rubber crumb production capability in Western Australia and is an integral part of the company’s plans to tackle the recycling of Australia’s end-of-life off the road (OTR) mining tyres.
With funding support from both the Western Australian and Commonwealth governments, through the Recycling Modernisation Fund, Tyrecycle CEO Jim Fairweather, also credits the Western Australian Government for its marketstimulating commitment to utilising rubber crumb in its road infrastructure projects.
“I can’t emphasise enough the importance of market development through government-led procurement. The Western Australian government is showing real leadership with the volume of rubber crumb being used throughout their roads network, and for that I commend them,” he said.
“We’re seeing firsthand the benefits of WA’s commitment to buy recycled material, not just in terms of the positive circular economy outcomes of using rubber crumb in roads,
but also in the industry investment – particularly this new plant in East Rockingham. We’ve been able to invest because we know there’s a strong market to sell products into.”
Fairweather said the facility is incredibly versatile, large, and best in class.
“There’s no other facility in Australia like this one in East Rockingham. Whether it’s the plant configuration, the quality of the equipment or the production capability – this facility represents best-practice across the board,” he said.
With a processing capacity of over 40,000 tonnes of end-of-life tyres per annum, and a 7,000 tonne per annum rubber crumb production capability, the facility has been designed to manufacture various products to differing specifications to cater to the needs of offtake customers.
Jim says this new facility opens significant opportunities for markets, both local and overseas.
“This plant allows us to drive as much product back into the Western Australia market as physically possible. What we can’t sell domestically, it gives us an opportunity to target stable overseas markets, like Japan,” he said.
COLLABORATION KEY TO TYRE RECYCLING MILESTONE
THE BENEFITS OF WORKING CLOSELY WITH KEY STAKEHOLDERS WAS HIGHLIGHTED THIS YEAR WHEN TYRECYCLE AND ALCOA AUSTRALIA ANNOUNCED A MILESTONE AGREEMENT TO GIVE NEW LIFE TO OLD MINING TRUCK TYRES.
Tyrecycle Head of Trading, Mining & Strategic Development Ashley Battilana, Alcoa WA Manager of Mines
Darrin Strange, WA Department of Water and Environmental Regulation Director General Alistair Jones, Alcoa Global Programs Manager – Water and Waste Nicole King and Tyrecycle CEO Jim Fairweather on site watching the first batch of Alcoa mining tyres be delivered for recycling.
Tyrecycle’s state-of-the-art recycling facility in East Rockingham welcomed its first load of used off the road (OTR) tyres from Alcoa earlier this year
“The partnership with Alcoa marks our first contracted agreement with a mining operator from the South West of WA to recycle OTR tyres. This is a significant milestone for both Australia’s mining and recycling industries”, said Tyrecycle CEO, Jim Fairweather.
Sourced from Alcoa’s bauxite mines in the Peel and South West regions, Tyrecycle processes the huge 57inch tyres into crumb rubber, a core component in sustainable road surfaces and soft-surface applications such as athletics tracks and playgrounds.
“Every tonne of crumb rubber used in asphalt mixes represents a potential greenhouse gas saving of 2,463kg of CO2-e. Knowing your mining tyres took that path instead of being buried is a
fantastic outcome for stakeholders and the environment alike,” said Fairweather.
Alcoa Global Program Manager –Water and Waste, Nicole King highlighted quality processes and sustainable outcomes as being a shared value in the partnership.
“We want to be sure our end-of-life OTR tyres are being managed sustainably and are generating products that support our waste management objectives,” said King.
“We have set ourselves the global goal of a 25 per cent reduction in landfilled waste by 2030 from a 2015 baseline. OTR tyres are a significant material stream for our WA mining operations, and recycling end-of-life tyres will make a contribution towards achieving our goal.”
Tyrecycle has its sights firmly set on expanding its mining tyre recycling capability, with the company in the final stages of constructing its new OTR tyre recycling plant in Port Hedland, which will have an initial 12,000 tonne per annum processing capacity.
“Our Western Australian tyre recycling capability and capacity has grown significantly in the past 12 months, with much more to come. Our new site in Pt Hedland will significantly increase the economic viability of the sustainable management of end-oflife OTR tyres,” said Fairweather. Click to learn more about this new partnership.
JUMBO COLLABORATION FOR RESOURCECO’S
NEWEST RESOURCE RECOVERY FACILITY
RESOURCECO’S RECENTLY OPENED RESOURCE RECOVERY FACILITY IN HEMMANT, QLD, IS NOW RECYCLING WASTE FROM JUMBO, A LEADING WASTE MANAGEMENT AND RESOURCE RECOVERY PROVIDER IN SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND.
The construction and demolition waste services provider Jumbo is one of the first to commence working with us as we seek to divert resources from landfill in our new resource recovery facility.
Under this new agreement material collected by Jumbo will be transported to ResourceCo’s Hemmant facility, recyclables are separated, with the energy in the remaining material used as an alternate fuel by high thermal demand cement manufacturers.
ResourceCo Business Development Manager Matthew Dyer said it was exciting to welcome Jumbo’s waste to the new facility.
“Every tonne from Jumbo that we divert from landfill saves one tonne of carbon that would be released through methane at a landfill,” he said.
“This is in addition to another tonne of carbon emissions
saved by cement manufactures who use our fuel to replace coal.
“We look forward to continuing a strong relationship with Jumbo and other local organisations in providing sustainable outcomes for their waste.”
Jumbo’s Managing Director, Rory Crundall, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership.
“This collaboration marks a very important step for Jumbo in meeting our targets of reducing waste to landfill. We will be diverting another 15,000+ tonnes from landfill per year, helping to turn it into a sustainable resource, and helping reduce the dependency on fossil fuels.” he said.
The facility, which is the first of its kind in Queensland, is slated to achieve 95% landfill diversion by recycling waste from Brisbane and south east Queensland businesses and councils.
LEADING FROM THE FRONT WITH TEXTILE RECYCLING
When it comes to textile recycling, ResourceCo Asia is leading the way in Malaysia as a significant player in providing this landfill diversion service.
In 2024 ResourceCo Asia recycled a record 5,100T of discarded textiles. Having undergone sorting at other facilities prior to being sent to ResourceCo, these textiles were otherwise destined for landfill.
ResourceCo’s advanced recycling processes harness the energy within these end-of-life garments, processing it into an alternate fuel, which is used to displace fossil fuels by high energy users.
ResourceCo Asia Managing Director Pavel Cech said he was proud to see ResourceCo leading the way with textile recycling.
“As an industry leader we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of key developments for the resource recovery sector, including providing sustainable outcomes for textiles,” he said.
“When you consider the amount of textiles used across the world, specifically in Asia where there is a high amount of textile manufacturing, the fact we are one of the biggest companies in Malaysia recycling these items shows our commitment to resource recovery.
“These textiles are not waste, diverting this material from landfill is critical and utilising it as a product which can displace the use of fossil fuels adds to the strong value proposition.”
Cech said textiles are a key part of the
feedstock received by his facility and he expects to see continued growth.
“In 2024 we saw a near 70% increase in the tonnage of textiles we received, which includes clothing and other items such as shoes and handbags, along with some residual waste from clothing manufacturers,” he said.
“There is no doubting textile recycling is an area that could see continued growth in coming years, given in Malaysia alone the textile manufacturing industry is of substantial size.”
BEST ON GROUND AT SUNCORP STADIUM
Earlier this year ResourceCo’s Soil Reuse & Recycling team joined with Enduroturf to undertake some onground works at the home of rugby league, Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
Maximizing the circularity of the resources was a priority for this project as our teams ensured the artificial turf surround upgrade could be finalised around the entry areas.
Our contractors carted and reused the sandy soil, disposed of old concrete for recycling and, importantly resupplied recycled concrete road base for the new works.
ResourceCo Queensland Regional Manager Mathew Mesaros said the use of ResourceCo products at such an iconic venue is a testament to their quality.
“Suncorp Stadium is one of the most well-known venues in the country, playing host to some of our most highprofile events each year, including State of Origin rugby league,” he said.
“The use of our services and recycled soil products at such an iconic stadium shows their quality and just how highly regarded they are by key decision makers.

DECLARING THE DETAILS
RESOURCECO’S VERIFIED ENVIRONMENTAL DATA
As a leader within the resource recovery industry, ResourceCo prides itself on producing quality products and services for its customers.
With this commitment in mind, ResourceCo has launched its newly developed Environmental Product Declarations for its recycled aggregate products to support customers in measuring their environmental performance.
Environmental credentials and emissions reporting are emerging as key requirements in federal, state and local government procurement policies and tenders. As such ResourceCo has recognised the need for its customers to be equipped with the best tools to provide the information requested throughout the supply chain.
ResourceCo Recycling and Waste CEO Brad Lemmon spoke about the in-depth data provided by the Environmental Product Declarations.
“Our EPDs provide independently verified, quantified data on the environmental impacts associated with our recycled aggregate products at each stage of their life cycle,” he said.
“Measuring footprint beyond greenhouse gas emissions, our EPDs capture the impacts of our products on broader environmental indicators including mineral depletion, eutrophication, and acidification.”
ResourceCo can also support its customers in achieving a Green Star Building rating by responsibly managing their waste at our Green Star Construction and Demolition Waste Reporting Criteria verified facilities.
ResourceCo’s Wingfield Recycling Facility and Lonsdale Resource Recovery Facility have successfully obtained an independent verification of compliance for their recovery operations.
To become eligible to provide its clients with a Green Star credit, ResourceCo completed a rigorous process, with an environmental auditor, with internationally recognised qualification, engaged to conduct a site audit at its facilities and undertake an assessment of environmental compliance against the Green Star requirements.
HEATH AND SAFETY–THE CORE OF OUR BUSINESS
PROTECTING THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF OUR WORKERS IS CORE TO OUR CULTURE.
Given the industries we operate in, safety is something we live and breathe every single day.
Responding to the challenges of an expanding operational footprint, greater integration between our divisions and increasing sophistication of our state-of-the-art plants, this year we have pivoted our health and safety management systems and governance framework toward a more Group-aligned model.
The message was simple: consistency is key. One way this was achieved in FY24 was through Group-level ISO certification with ResourceCo maintaining an integrated Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) management system, certified to ISO 45001:2018, 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.
The audit delivered Group alignment in HSEQ systems, with multiple opportunities emerging throughout the year for the business to embed further consistencies in its approach to operational health and safety.
Additionally, the business altered its HSQ governance structure across multiple levels of reporting.
This involved the formalisation of a refreshed HSQ Board Committee with membership including ResourceCo Holdings’ Chairman, better facilitating shared learnings and providing a direct reporting line from the HSQ management team to the Board.
This governance structure was supplemented with a functional resourcing initiative that placed increased focus on the recruitment of on-site specialist health & safety personnel, with priority given to the business’ most complex facilities and new sites.
The changes have promoted in-depth engagement up and down the organisation, ensuring we remain connected to those workers delivering our production outcomes on the front line, day-in and day-out.
AGILE DRIVER COMMUNICATION SOLUTION
Being agile is one of ResourceCo’s values, we pride ourselves on being dynamic and responsive, acting with speed and nimbleness to provide innovative solutions for our customers.
With this in mind, ResourceCo recently created Virtual Toolbox videos as a way to proactively communicate with drivers in an efficient and timely way.
ResourceCo HSQ Manager Steven Patrick said the virtual toolbox adds another layer to our ability to ensure we are providing the best possible service to our customers, while also emphasising the importance of the safety and wellbeing of our drivers.
“Being able to communicate in such an engaging way with drivers spread out across vast areas is an invaluable resource,” he said.
“It gives us the ability to ensure our drivers are up to date with necessary safety and logistical information, along with demonstrating to clients our commitment to providing quality service.
“The videos have already been well received by our drivers and clients as a helpful way of receiving information.”
ResourceCo’s virtual toolbox has been made possible thanks to our innovative Matex system which keeps drivers, allocators and customers up to date with live job data in an easy to use application.
By linking our virtual toolbox videos into our Matex system, ResourceCo is adding another valuable element to our industry leading technology-based service.
Check out an example of a Virtual Toolbox video.

SUPPORTING A BRIGHT FUTURE WITH SUMSHINE KIDS LEARNING CENTRE
Connecting with community and supporting positive social outcomes is a real strength of ResourceCo’s Asia team.
From clearing local waterways of waste, developing local composting programs and supporting disadvantaged children with learning material – the ResourceCo team is deeply committed to connecting with community and making a positive difference.
For over five years ResourceCo Asia has proudly supported Sumshine Kids Learning Centre in Malaysia, donating critical learning resource material.
A humbling collaboration, Sumshine Kids Learning Centre provides inhouse and home-based tuition services to disadvantaged pre-school and school-aged children.
ResourceCo Asia Managing Director Pavel Cech said ResourceCo’s support initially helped with the creation of the centre, making this five-year milestone all the more important.
“I was listening to the radio and they were talking about the lack of affordable opportunities for children with special learning needs, especially in the provincial areas,” he said.
“That gave us the orientation regarding the possible direction of our corporate social responsibility efforts towards something that could be truly a life-changer for these underprivileged kids.
“It is special to see the benefits of their work in providing equal opportunity for emerging generations of disadvantaged children. The value supporting local communities cannot be understated, particularly with Sumshine Learning Centre. The feedback we often receive from parents is very heartwarming."

PROVIDING WORLD CLASS PRODUCTS FOR A WORLD CLASS EVENT
ResourceCo’s material played a key role in transforming Adelaide’s Parklands to be able to host the Adelaide Equestrian Festival.
This year, ResourceCo was selected to supply the materials needed to transform the heritage-listed Adelaide Parklands into a world-class course for the Adelaide Equestrian Festival.
This project not only showcased our commitment to sustainability but also highlighted our ability to support major events with innovative resource recovery solutions.
With the event held in the lead up to the Paris Olympics, top equestrian performers were eager to demonstrate their skills.
Constructing a challenging and safe course was a top priority for the event organizers, and ResourceCo was proud to contribute to this effort.
By using our products instead of traditional quarried materials, we were able to provide a sustainable solution that met the high standards required for such a prestigious event.
This approach not only reduced the environmental impact of the event, but also demonstrated the viability of sustainable materials in highprofile applications.
ResourceCo Managing Director Simon Brown said one of the highlights of the partnership with the Adelaide Equestrian Festival was the opportunity to engage with the community.
“Our broader partnership enabled more than 5,000 people to attend a free-entry community day, making the event accessible to a wider audience,” he said.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to connecting with communities and delivering positive resource recovery outcomes.
“By providing a platform for community engagement, we helped foster a sense of inclusion and shared purpose.
“At ResourceCo, connecting with communities and promoting sustainability are core values and our involvement in the Adelaide Equestrian Festival allowed us to achieve both.
“Supplying sustainable materials and supporting community events, demonstrates our commitment to making a broad positive impact.
“This project is a testament to the importance of integrating sustainability into all aspects of our operations and partnerships.”
