Reserve Wines was born out of an intimidating visit to a local wine shop – who hasn’t experienced that?!
Determined to create a friendly and inspiring community around wine and give customers a really good time, Reserve Wines founder Kate Goodman opened her first shop in leafy West Didsbury, Manchester 20 years ago in 2003.
In the early days, Kate turned to YouTube to share her expertise and make learning about wine fun. She was scouted by the BBC, who invited her to be the Wine Expert for their Food and Drink programme.
Working alongside world-famous chefs such as Michel Roux Jnr - there’s not much Kate doesn’t know about how to perfectly pair wine with food. Fast forward 20 years and Reserve Wines has expanded to six sites across Manchester, (with two more in the pipeline) including three wine bars and an online shop. “We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to bring you a knockout, bigger (and better) selection of world class, quality driven wholesale wines to suit all budgets and palates to give your customers great taste & great times.
Every time you shop with us, it really means the world to support our indie business. Cheers to 20 more years of being Manchester’s most trusted independent hospitality drinks supplier. We hope to work with you soon. Until then, happy drinking!”
“WORKING ON OUR WINE LIST TOGETHER HAS FELT LIKE A HOBBY.”
First and foremost the most joy that can be gleaned from working with a supplier is when their passion for their craft shines through - and this is true in abundance with Reserve Wines.
The biggest compliment I can pay, being that it has always felt like a fun hobby and not a chore when working on our wine lists. We absolutely benefit from having a long-standing relationship in that we know who they are, and they know who we are! They genuinely want the best for us and for our customers, and nothing is ever too much to ask - and ask a lot I do!
On a practical level they are very efficient, quick to deal with any issues, and honest, which is for us the most valued of traits. Wine is a vital part of our menu philosophy and we couldn’t hope to work with a supplier who represents that any more acutely than Reserve Wines.
He’ll look after you every step of the way with support on menu curation, tasting notes, staff training, delivery and everything else in between.
You might recognise Tom from our lovely Mackie Mayor team, if you’ve met him, you’ll know he’s a pro at picking the perfect wine recommendations, as well as hosting fun, interactive tasting events.
He’s your go-to guy for discovering the very best wholesale wines for every occasion, businesses and budgets. We stock hundreds of bottles (many we have exclusive dibs to) from new, small-scale family-owned producers up to Grand Marque champagne houses, funky natural & biodynamics to conventionally made bottles.

The Lavradores Wines are a joy to drink. They’re shining the light on community spirit with growers and winemakers on board with a wholistic approach to production.

“WORKING WITH WINE AND PEOPLE ARE TWO OF MY PASSIONS - I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO CURATING A DRINKS MENU TOGETHER.”
SAY HI TO TOM.

Adobe Gewurztraminer and their commitment to sustainability.
Emiliana is one of Chile’s most exciting producers and pioneers in organic and biodynamic winemaking. Being the first Chilean company to become Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC®), an international accreditation for regenerative organic agriculture.
The practices of this certification pursue healthy soils, animal welfare, and dignity for workers. In January 2023 Emiliana furthered their commitment to sustainable practices and obtained B Corp Certification.

Samurai Chardonnay and Shiraz.
“This pair of very quaffable wines with their striking labels are an own label project from Free Run Juice. Free Run Juice is an innovative company that allows small vineyards access to the facilities and expertise they need to make and distribute their wine, with a focus on quality and consistency.”
With the growth of craft beer in recent years, with their vibrant and often fiercely independent packaging with 360-degrees of graphics it is clear that they have captured the imagination of a new generation of drinkers in the way that wine, for the most part, has not.
The beauty of canned wine is in its simplicity, as there is no need to search in vain for a corkscrew or even grab some glasses, wine in a tin can be enjoyed anywhere and at any time. The smaller size of this format has clear benefits and allows for the wine to be chilled much quicker and keeps it fresh.
Not overlooking the environmental credentials of canned drinks, which are a credible alternative to both plastic and glass bottles. From the point of production to the point of recycling, aluminium is considerably more efficient and has a much lower carbon footprint than plastic or glass.
Les Volets is proven to be a great wine for its money and has been super popular and consistent recently. The Lete 204 champagne, our house Champagne – is great value for money.
Amie X, a wine for friends, by friends. Rose fans take note, Amie X’s beautiful pale, dry rose from the Languedoc in the South of France became the rose to drink last Summer and it’s not hard to see why. Made from a blend of organic Grenache and Cinsault, it’s light and crisp with citrus and stone fruits and a juicy strawberry characteristic. GREAT
Some of our best-selling wines, Cantina Sampietrana, have always delivered fantastic value for money, with their elegant wines punching well above their weight. Established in 1952, in the historic centre of San Pietro Vernotico, a little town based halfway between Brindisi and Lecce in the south of Italy. They are dedicated to using sustainable methods to produce authentic wines with respect for their environment.
Reserve Recommends:
Lavradores de Feitoria is a wine company in the Douro region, with 20 estates strategically spread over the valley working in unison. Born out of an innovative business model, with the mission of creating wines grounded in social, economic and environmental sustainability. Modern, elegant Douro valley wines that really come alive with food.

Flint Vineyard has been making wine since 2016 and in that short time has become recognised as one of England’s most exciting new wine producers.
Winemaker Ben Witchell’s philosophy is based on his experience, which combines studying the science of wine and appreciating the traditional elements of the process.
The focus is on ultra-premium, low-volume still wines, using the best fruit from their own and partner vineyards. Pioneering methods, some courage, a little luck and patience result in some of the most highly prized wines of England. Reserve highly Recommends!
GREAT TASTE. GREAT TIMES.Tohu is the first Māori owned wine business in New Zealand. Since its establishment in 1998, the winery has focused on producing and developing single vineyards in its estates.
The owners and workers of Tohu have the aim and purpose of upholding their ancestors’ legacy. They wish to pay their tributes to their forefathers by enhancing and improving the resources passed down from generation to generation. A more premium option that’s worth the hype.
It is generally accepted that natural wines are made with minimal intervention from the winemakers in both the vineyard and the winery. Not spraying pesticides, minimal / no filtration or fining and often only fermented with yeasts naturally occurring in the vineyard. GREAT
Karma Drinks not only taste great but do great things too! On a mission to become the world’s only ethical soft drink, along with being Organic and Fairtrade the Karma Foundation also gives 1% of revenue from every drink sold back to the Kola Nut farmers and their communities in Sierra Leone.
Last year alone they built 4 schools, providing salaries and qualifications for teachers, bursaries for 135 girls to attend school, rebuilt freshwater pumps and provided seedling support to 200 farmers amongst other things.
Willowglen are our favourite alcohol free still wines. What sets them apart?
De Bortoli Wines, family winemakers since 1928 have vineyards all across Australia and are seriously committed to environmentally sustainable practices and have gone well beyond mandatory requirements, with the ultimate goal of becoming a ‘Zero Waste Wine Company’.
Alcohol Free or de-alcoholised wine has not always had the best reputation, but as drinking habits change and demand for alternatives rises, so has the quality and the attention to detail put into these products. The Very Cautious One wines are no exception, being some of the best still 0% wines we have tasted. Making up for the lack of body alcohol would usually provide, with clever selection of Aromatic varieties that suit sweeter styles and using residual sugar to provide the body.
