Executive Summary
2025 has been an emotional rollercoaster, one of those years that felt heavy and hopeful all at once. We saw animals come through our doors broken in ways that don’t show up on intake forms. Bodies hurt, spirits tired, trust nonexistent. We faced medical crises, abuse cases, surrender conversations, and goodbyes that never get easier.
In the midst of the heaviness, there was also joy. We introduced the world to Richard, who brought laughter to our page and reminded everyone why we never give up on the “difficult” dogs. His story helped shine a light on patience, training, and second chances, and on the belief that no dog is disposable.
Beyond the walls of our rescue, we spent hours in courtrooms, fighting for animals who could not speak for themselves. This year, three more abusers were convicted. Justice is slow. It’s frustrating. It’s emotionally draining. But it matters. And with more cases still pending, we will continue to show up, testify, advocate, and stand firm in the belief that cruelty must have consequences.
Most of all, we are thankful. Thankful for the people who stood beside us on the darkest days and celebrated with us on the good ones. You carried us through a year that asked a lot, and because of you, we are closing 2025 stronger, more determined, and more hopeful than ever. Since 2014, Rescue One has been dedicated to serving the community, positively changing the lives of countless pets. Our commitment extends beyond breed, age, or ease of placement. Our mission is to not only rescue animals in need but to also better the lives of animals in our community.

BRITTANY
Brittany came to us broken—literally and figuratively. She was found with a severely broken jaw and an injured foot. Once she reached our clinic, we learned just how serious it was: her jaw was broken on both sides.
This is your compassion at work for Brittany, and for every animal who arrives in need. Your donations stop suffering, fund lifesaving care, and give second chances when animals need them most.
We don’t know what caused her injuries, but they were already a few weeks old when she was found. One side of her jaw could be saved using delicate wiring and an acrylic splint that had to remain in place for 8–10 weeks. The other side couldn’t be repaired at all. The bone was already dead, and the vets were forced to remove about an inch of her jaw in a partial mandibulectomy. Her recovery was long and demanding, filled with careful monitoring, patience, and compassion. But Brittany never gave up, and neither did we
Today, Brittany has made a full recovery and is living happily in her forever home, loved exactly the way she always deserved!
WHAT WE DO
Emergency Rescue Team - Provides immediate intervention to animals in critical situations.
Trapping Team - Specializes in humane trapping for the rescue of animals in need.
TNR Outreach Program - Focuses on Trap-Neuter-Return efforts to control feral cat populations.
Low-Cost Vaccine Clinics - Offers affordable vaccination and microchip services to promote pet health
Spay and Neuter Assistance - Provides financial aid or access to low-cost spay/neuter services to reduce overpopulation.
Pet Food Assistance - Supplies pet food to families in need to help them care for their animals.
Law Enforcement Partnerships - Collaborates with authorities to address animal cruelty and neglect cases as well as emergency cases in their counties
SafePet Program - Offers temporary housing for pets of individuals escaping domestic violence situations.
Education to Pet Owners - Provides resources and information to help pet owners give the best care to their animals.
Freedom Foster Program - Matches foster homes with animals needing temporary care after being rescued from commercial breeding facilities.
Paws & Learn Program - Delivers educational sessions about animal care and compassion to schools and community groups.
Puppies For Parole: A partnership with the Missouri Department of Corrections pairing dogs with incarcerated individuals who help train, socialize, and prepare them for life in a home.

Rescue One thrives because of the incredible support from our community. Our mission is made possible by the unwavering commitment of our supporters, fosters, volunteers, and staff. These passionate individuals are the driving force behind everything we do, forming the heart and soul of our organization.

These hours are equivalent to more than 2 full time employees. Volunteers help with laundry, outreach, general cleaning, transport, animal care, enrichment, and events.

ACTIVE FOSTERS HOMES RESCUE ONE EMPLOYEES
Foster homes are the backbone of our organization. Foster parents provide daily love and care for the pet while Rescue One provides all medical care and supplies.
Rescue One currently has 14 full time and 4 part time employees working out of our Springfield, Ozark and remote locations to help animals and pet owners in need.
WHAT WE DID
INTAKES & OUTCOMES
Intakes include animals from shelters, strays, owner surrenders, and cases of neglect or abuse. Outcomes focus on finding loving homes or transfers to other rescues.

VETERINARY MEDICINE
Rescue One's Medical Facility provides essential care for animals we rescue including spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and urgent medical treatment. We also proudly support four area organizations by providing them low cost spay and neuter services.
In October of 2025, we partnered with the Animal Clinic of Ava and now have four rotating veterinarians at our clinic to help even more animals in need and to expand our outreach services!
