20 YEARS - WOW! Thank you to all the Resa's Pieces Members, our audience & sponsors for being an essential part of our success over the past 20 years!
Resa and Marshall Kochberg
A Piece from our President WOW….Congratulations on 20 years of making music!
This year we are very excited to showcase all of our ensembles in a Gala Concert Series consisting of a separate concert for each ensemble. As an added bonus, the Symphony Orchestra will be joining the Strings Gala, and The Resa's Pieces Chamber Choir aka The Treblemakers will be performing at the Singers and Concert Band Galas. There are many people to thank. I would like to start with the musicians. Each one of them represents a true dedication to the art, commitment to numerous group practices, and hundreds of hours of independent work culminating in these performances. Tonight would not be possible without the efforts of our incredibly talented conductors. The Concert Band is conducted by Resa Kochberg, whose vision to ‘rediscover making music’ created this organization 20 years ago. We are thrilled Robert Graham continues to conduct our Singers, and Phillip Coonce our String Ensemble. Their contributions are immeasurable, without them tonight would not be possible. This evening you will be hearing a compilation of their creative vision, mentorship, expertise, and leadership. “Thank you for the music.” I would like to thank the board members of Resa’s Pieces for their tireless dedication and contributions to the continued success of the organization. As well, I would like to express my gratitude to the many volunteers who devoted their time throughout the year to help make our community concerts and these annual Galas such a wonderful success! Lastly, to you, our loyal fans and sponsors: thank you for your support, generosity and patronage which allows our organization to continue to grow and flourish! Without you this performance, and those of the last 20 years, would not have been possible. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show! Sincerely, Timothy Foley President
Congratulations And Continued Success! Thelma & Saul Shulman

CONCERT BAND
Resa Kochberg Growing up there was nothing else Resa wanted to do but study music. After graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Toronto, Resa taught as a Band Music Specialist for the Scarborough Board of Education until she put teaching on hold to start a family. While raising her three children, she had a “cottage industry” clothing business and taught private piano lessons. In 1999 Resa returned to teaching for the Toronto District School Board where she also conducted the Concert Band for Toronto Music Camps and led workshops as a flute specialist. For three years Resa had the privilege of conducting and co-conducting the Toronto East All City Band. Resa currently plays and performs with the North York Concert Band and the Encore Symphonic Band, and conducts a flute ensemble, "The Enchanted Flutes". Resa’s past twenty years have been one of her greatest joys, as she shares her love of music with all the dedicated members of Resa’s Pieces. Along with conducting Resa’s Pieces Concert Band and sharing in its accomplishments over the years, Resa is delighted that both Resa’s Pieces String Ensemble and Resa's Pieces Singers are flourishing. She also takes pride in the establishment of Resa’s Pieces Symphony Orchestra. In 2014 Resa was honoured with an Urban Hero Award, given to people in the community whose personal efforts and contributions have made significant impact on others. In her spare time, Resa, together with Marshall, are devoted grandparents to their seven cherished grandchildren.

Robert Graham Growing up both in British Columbia and Western Australia, from an early age Robert Graham divided his time equally between honing his skills as a piano player and attempting to learn every song on the radio! He continues the journey in Toronto as a professional musical journeyman, creator and collaborator. Luckily for him, part of his career also involves conducting Resa's Pieces Singers and the Treblemakers! Together with his songwriting and performing, Graham maintains a career as a Music Director, pianist, accompanist, vocalist, Choir Director, and vocal/repertoire coach. He has worked on numerous Theatre productions across Canada and Australia - most recently "Seeking Refuge" at the 2017 Toronto Fringe Festival. His collaborations have included several multi-genre bands and ensembles - touring the UK with Canadian roots supergroup "Tanglefoot" (Winner - Best Vocal Group - 2007 Canadian Folk Music Awards) and performing with Australia's "Los Chasquis" (Perth, Australia). His debut album, "Storm in a Teacup", produced by Chris Brown (Bourbon Tabernacle Choir) was followed by several singles and an EP - this time with his new band The Fairest and Best - released in the fall of 2015 (www.fairestandbest.com). Robert's songs have been added to the playlist of over 100 radio stations across North America and attracted significant licensing interest in the USA Canada, and Italy. "It Could Be You" - a song recorded in 2016 with Resa's Pieces Singers, and written to highlight the plight of refugees worldwide - was finalist in the 2018 "Songs for Social Change Songwriting Competition" and placed 4th overall in the 2016 Dallas Songwriters Association Song Contest. In 2018 Robert was awarded the inaugural Douglas C Cowling Bursary in Liturgical Music, and in March of 2019 he was awarded a Toronto Artscape Foundation Launchpad Bursary.
