IN MEMORIAM

Makayla Lynn Clarke

This is the story of a girl I admired most in this world and even though she’s gone her strength and love makes me stronger to continue on. Makayla Lynn Clarke my daughter of 25 years, died on Feb. 15 2012 of a terminal dreadful disease called Cystic fibrosis. Makayla grew up in Rehoboth, MA. She was beautiful blue eyes blonde, a very energetic girl and she was successful cheerleader in her middle school years and was a very popular loving girl. She dropped out of high school her senior year because cystic fibrosis starting the progress of taking over her lungs, heart and mostly her everyday living. She started to require oxygen and then was put on very strong pain medications. Boston hospitals denied her four times for a needed lung transplant, one reason saying she was immature, next reason saying she was on narcotics. Hello her doctor put her on them! They let her die. In 2006 Makayla gave birth to a healthy boy Michael. He was her world. In 2008 Makayla got married. She was now fighting to live everyday. She spent 9 months out of the year in Hasbro Hospital. Makayla fought hard to watch her little boy grow up. She was able to come home one last time on Christmas 2011 for few months. She got to be the proud mom she was and then went back into Hasbro in Feb. 2012 to die on Feb. 15. She told me two days before the 15th, “mom is it ok that I go now, I can’t fight this any more.” I said “Makayla you haven’t lost this fight, you are just calling a truce in need to rest.” I then hugged her and cried knowing she was leaving me soon. I told her she will leave the greatest gift to me in world, her little boy Michael. I now get to see Makayla grow up all over again only in a different body. Makayla fought 25 years for the life she lived. Though it was short her memory will be with us all forever. She now breaths easily in Gods Heaven looking down upon us to watch Michael become a man with a heart of gold and strength like his mother. Love her mom, Sonya Fisher
