HELLO FROM THE MAYOR

Happy New Year, Renton!

As we welcome 2025, I wish everyone a happy and healthy new year. We saw an active summer and fall season this past year, filled with many opportunities for the city and community to connect and work together. Winter brings forward many opportunities, from the youth basketball league, new fitness and wellness programs, and uses for the activated space at the Don Persson Senior Activity Center. There are ways to get involved, from giving back to the community through volunteer projects or perfecting your swing at Maplewood Golf Course. We’re keeping Renton active, engaged, and connected this winter through a number of recreational opportunities and events.

The work of the City’s Parks and Recreation Department is vital to Renton's future – it's part of the reason Renton is such a great place to live. The department updates its Parks, Recreation, and Open Space (PROS) Plan every six years. The plan evaluates current facilities and engages with the community to identify service gaps, proposed strategies, and projects to fit the community's needs. A prioritized capital improvement plan will be included, with adoption expected by early 2026. Residents can be involved and stay up to date on the progress of the PROS Plan by subscribing at yourvoice.rentonwa.gov/pros

I encourage everyone to explore and enjoy Renton's many programs, events, and facilities that make our community thrive. Let's embrace the new year with optimism and make it one of connection, growth, and celebration!

Here's to a fantastic year ahead!
