PARKS PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT
New Exercise Equipment Invites Community to enjoy
Senior Center’s “ B ACKYARD ”
Improvements to the former outdoor bocce court at the Don Persson Renton Senior Activity Center are now complete and ready for the community to enjoy. New landscaping has dramatically opened views of the Cedar River from the Senior Center. The former bocce ball court, installed in the 1980’s, had fallen into disuse. Now, new outdoor exercise equipment welcomes seniors and community members to enjoy the “backyard” of the senior center. Seniors can play ping pong on the new outdoor table tennis table and large-scale checkers or chess on a board incorporated into the new poured-in-place rubberized surfacing. The former horseshoe court has been upgraded to a corn hole court for bean bag toss. Senior Center staff have bean bags, chess and checker pieces, and ping pong paddles and balls available to check out. These exciting updates were funded in part by the Renton Senior Center Fund.
