www.renownpharma.com How Soft Gelatin Capsules Are Made (A Peek Behind the Curtain) Have you ever wondered how those tiny soft gelatin capsules are made? Ever since I was a kid, I've been fascinated by how things are made. I would watch my dad take apart old TVs and radios to see what was inside (this was before you could just look it up on YouTube). So, when I found out that there was such a thing as Capsule Manufacturing, I knew I had to learn more.
As it turns out, the process of making soft gelatin capsules is pretty interesting. And, since we get a lot of questions about our manufacturing process here at ABC Company, I thought it might be helpful to write a blog post about it. So, without further ado, here's a behind-thescenes look at how we make our soft gelatin capsules. The first step in our manufacturing process is sourcing the raw materials. We use only the highest quality gelatin, glycerin, and water to make our capsules. Once we have the raw materials, they are combined and heated until they form a liquid solution. The next step is where things start to get really interesting. The liquid solution is passed through a series of metal screens that have progressively smaller holes. This process, known as extrusion, forces the liquid through the holes in the screen and forms it into long strands of gelatin.
