Community - When people think of ice cream, no matter what their age, it brings back found memories of when they were young, says Valerie Salvati, owner of the Dairy Queen in Renfrew.” It basically brings out the ‘kid’ in everyone,” she adds. The kids took centre stage at the Dairy Queen in Renfrew, Wednesday Aug. 8 to make miracles happen by other kids. They were in charge from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. to ensure that the proceeds from anyone buying a DQ Blizzard went to help their fellow children at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). “Although Dairy Queen Restaurants are found throughout North America, all proceeds from the entire day stay local,” Salvati noted. “Every reader knows some family that has had a child that has benefited from the wonderful resources and staff at CHEO and the Children’s Miracle Network. The kids really showed us how it is done. “The special staff would like to thank everyone for being a sponsor for the Children’s Miracle Network and also to thank you for saving a child’s life,” Salvati added. “Children are truly the miracles of the world.”
