Renfrew Skating Club honours season’s top performers The Renfrew Skating Club held its awards day and banquet for the 2014-15 skating season at the Ma-Te-Way Activity Centre March 29. The award salutes the skater who shows the most enthusiasm, good sportsmanship towards fellow skaters and is also based on a points system that includes tests passed and success at competitions.
Senior Games will run over two weeks The 2015 Renfrew County Senior Games take place May 21 to June 4. The Games are open to people 55 years and over, and will be held in multiple venues spread throughout Renfrew County to enable more people

Aikenhead’s PharmaChoice is teaming up with the Renfrew Golf Club again this year to raise funds for Hospice Renfrew. The Aikenhead’s Hospice Classic is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 14 and costs $540 (HST included) for each team. The entry fee includes 18 holes of golf, cart, barbecue lunch, dinner, participation gifts, prizes for featured skill events and first-place prizes for men’s, mixed and ladies categories. Format for the tournament is a four-person scramble shotgun start.
Registration starts at 11 a.m. and play begins at the sound of the shotgun at 1 p.m. People are urged to come early and participate in pre-game events. The day also includes an opportunity to memorialize a special loved one and a silent auction that features some very special gift items. The Classic is limited to 36 teams and spots will be guaranteed upon receipt of the first 36 entry fees. Register early to assure your spot in the field, said organizers. Registration will close on Friday, July 24. Include a name and address details for all team members requiring a tax receipt.
