THE PROBLEM
Since ancient times, the Kuruma Tribe have been rearing cattle and cultivating their elds Irregular rain patterns and oods have led to major loss, resulting in many families selling their cows .The e ort right now is to uplift the community and lift them out of their hard times while still preserving the community’s culture and tradition.
THE SOLUTION
Aranyakam will help the community make and sell Ghana-Jeevamrutham (in solid form) thereby increasing their income. It has a shelf life of 6 months and is highly rich in various plant nutrients and absolutely chemical-free, keeping the microbes in the soil alive.
What is di erent about Aranyakam is that the Ghana-Jeevamrutham produced will also contain a handful of the nearby forest soil which enriches it with additional nutrients. Our proposal involves a revamped cow shed for 3 families whose herd consists of 15 cows Wayanad cows and a full edged attached structure for the preparation of Jeevamrutham.

THE DESIGN
The project proposal comprises the following for the self-reliant manufacture of the Ghana-Jeevamrutham which can be introduced in any site. A module for ve cows (1 cow gives 8kg dung; 5 cows give 40 kg) include 24 trays.
-Wet dung tray to collect dung from the shed.
-Drying trays for the storage and drying of dung over the span of 3-4 days.
-Mixing barrel where all the constituents are to be mixed for its preparation
-Green space for growing lentils which could also transform into their vegetable garden
The nal executed design , was slightly modi ed due to some site conditions . The mixing barrels , drying pits etc was shifted to the front of the cow shed for easier access and also to make use of the existing cow shed . A small advertisement as well as a shop is built towards the road , as many travellers usually travel via the route to a resort near by . As animal threats was an issue raised by the community ,a concrete half wall is build and the rest is covered by bamboo weaving . The concrete wall was mud plastered by the students along with the localites. The mud plastering also helps in cooling the interiors of the shed .

Roads are blocked by street vendors encroaching on to the streets, this adds to the congetion due to vehicles
Existing condition
The vendors use the space around paithrikam, hence the streets are more congested the congetion is mainly seen at the access points of the market.
The land infront of the building is unused , the space has direct view to the junction.
The threestorey building blocks major view towards the market from the street.
a de ned entrance this blocked the view of customers to the sellers.

It's weird how the world works
With each forbidden future that lurks
The pain from the past
And the uncertainty of the future that is vast We grieve of what happened and We fear of what is to happen.
The past is history they say
Then let it have its way
Y then the grievance
Take it as an experience.
All those broken vows
Still we believe and trust
All those wounds that need a stitch
We still choose a bandaid to pitch
Ohh she was a witch !
And u still chose not to switch
Let go of history
With a heart made of ivory .
