Tell us what personally drove you to launch your company? I know that comfort and function are so important, but dive in deeper as to why.

After completing college, my career journey led me to prestigious roles within high-end and luxury hospitality However, the onset of Covid-19 presented unforeseen challenges Despite my efforts to persevere, the constant flux of rescheduled and postponed events took a toll on my well-being, prompting a six-month hiatus from the industry

During this time, a former colleague approached me with an intriguing opportunity: to fill a gap in the Massachusetts market by offering specialized Month-Of Wedding Coordination services Recognizing the demand for this niche service, I founded MPE, dedicated to providing couples with professional coordination for their special day, even if they didn't require full-service planning Driven by my passion for crafting unforgettable experiences, I embraced this new venture, offering tailored solutions to meet my clients' needs. Initially starting part-time, I quickly transitioned to fulltime, expanding my offerings to include Full-Service Planning and Design.

What are the three most influential things from your past that have influenced you to be the woman you are today?

First, my parents are one of my biggest influencers that have contributed to my being the woman that I am today Their hard work, dedication and commitment to their family has played a huge role in shaping my thought processes

My mother chose to stay at home with her 3 children, of which I was the oldest She spent her days balancing and perfectly executing all of our schedules; whether it was dance practice, a play date or volunteering in our classrooms, my mother could manage it all

My father has spent decades of his life running successful businesses, demonstrating leadership, salesmanship and outside of the box thinking. I am proud to say that these are all qualities that I have grown and nurtured in his wake. His type A personality mirrors my own, exhibiting both the positive nature and challenges we are forced to overcome because of it.

Next, working for a luxury catering company has profoundly influenced the woman I am today, both personally and professionally. The exposure to the world of luxury events has refined my standards for excellence. In an industry where attention to detail is paramount, I've learned the importance of precision, finesse, and impeccable service This commitment to excellence has become ingrained in my approach to everything I do, from orchestrating extravagant weddings to managing intricate logistical details

My experience with the catering company has deepened my appreciation for the art of hospitality I've witnessed firsthand how a carefully curated menu, paired with flawless execution, can elevate an event from ordinary to extraordinary This emphasis on creating memorable experiences for guests has shaped my philosophy as a wedding planner, driving me to go above and beyond to exceed my clients' expectations

On a personal level, working in the fast-paced environment of luxury events has honed my resilience and adaptability. I've learned to thrive under pressure, navigating tight deadlines and unexpected challenges with grace and composure. These invaluable skills have not only strengthened my professional abilities but have also equipped me to tackle any obstacles that arise in my personal life

Your company must deal with a lot of different kinds of clients. Where do most come from?

My client base predominantly stems from referrals by vendors and venues I've collaborated with in the industry These referrals typically align closely with my brand, pricing, and level of expertise However, I've noticed a significant uptick in leads originating from social media, particularly Instagram, in recent years Instagram has emerged as my most lucrative platform, offering potential clients a glimpse into the daily operations of my business through stories Additionally, it serves as a showcase for past events I've orchestrated, complete with testimonials from satisfied clients.

What are the hardest things about being a woman in your field?

Navigating the luxury wedding planning field as a woman presents unique challenges, particularly given the prevalence of female competitors within the industry With a landscape predominantly occupied by women, distinguishing oneself from the plethora of talented professionals is paramount

In such a female-dominated space, it's essential to carve out a distinct niche and cultivate a unique brand identity This may involve showcasing specialized expertise, leveraging innovative approaches to event design, or fostering strong client relationships built on trust and reliability

As Marissa Pedone Events gears up for the launch of our third season in luxury wedding and event planning, we're thrilled to announce our debut as a Full Service & Design team With an array of new and prestigious venues on our radar, we're eager to bring our couples' dreams to life with our signature touch of elegance and uniqueness.

The anticipation of connecting with our 2025 couples is palpable. We're eager to delve into their vision and priorities, approaching each event with a fresh perspective and an open mind. Our goal isn't just to create Instagram worthy events, but to craft celebrations that authentically reflect our clients' personalities and desires Drawing from over a decade of experience in the industry, I've curated a network of top-tier vendors across all categories, streamlining the process of matching couples with their perfect partners The prospect of expanding my professional network fills me with excitement

In the first quarter of this year, I've dedicated myself to fostering connections with like-minded individuals, united in our shared mission to support and uplift one another Witnessing the growth and success of those within my network is a source of immense pride, underscoring the strength and camaraderie of our community of talented professionals

What are your favorite design elements, themes, and/or styles that you do to produce a party? And why?

I find immense joy and fulfillment in curating exquisite design elements, themes, and styles that elevate each event into a timeless celebration of love and beauty

One of my favorite design elements is lush floral arrangements. Flowers have a magical ability to transform any space, infusing it with color, fragrance, and elegance. Whether it's cascading bouquets of roses and peonies or elaborate floral arches framing the altar, I love incorporating blooms that reflect the couple's personality and style Floral design not only adds a touch of romance and sophistication but also creates a sense of enchantment and wonder for guests to experience

In terms of themes, I'm particularly drawn to classic elegance and timeless sophistication I believe that timeless design transcends fleeting trends and fads, creating a sense of timeless beauty that resonates with couples for years to come Whether it's a black-tie affair at a historic mansion or a glamorous soirée in a modern ballroom, I strive to evoke a sense of timeless elegance through meticulous attention to detail, luxurious textures, and refined aesthetics

When it comes to styles, I have a penchant for incorporating elements of understated luxury and modern chic. I love juxtaposing clean lines and sleek finishes with opulent accents and indulgent details. Whether it's a minimalist tablescape adorned with crystal glassware and sculptural centerpieces or a contemporary lounge area with plush velvet furnishings and metallic accents, I seek to create a sense of understated luxury that feels both sophisticated and inviting

Ultimately, my favorite design elements, themes, and styles are guided by a commitment to creating unforgettable experiences that reflect the unique vision and personality of each couple Whether it's through the timeless beauty of lush florals, the classic elegance of refined aesthetics, or the understated luxury of modern chic, I strive to craft celebrations that exceed expectations and leave a lasting impression on all who attend

How do you want to continue to grow as a female entrepreneur?

As a female entrepreneur in the luxury wedding and event planning industry, my ambition is to foster the growth of my business and expand my team to accommodate more talented individuals In the initial years of my venture, I worked closely with one dedicated assistant, catering to our clients' personal needs, managing event setups, and ensuring the seamless flow of each occasion.

In late 2023, I was fortunate enough to welcome a second experienced assistant to the team, enabling me to further develop my leadership skills and delegate onsite tasks effectively As we approach the 2024 season, I've taken a significant step forward by hiring a team of dedicated content media managers to accompany us onsite, capturing behind-the-scenes footage This invaluable content will serve to enhance Marissa Pedone Events' social media presence, offering couples an intimate glimpse into our work on their special day

This strategic investment not only highlights the elevated level of service we provide but also underscores our commitment to growth and innovation Looking ahead, my vision for the next decade involves assembling a team of full-time professionals who will share the responsibilities of event planning, allowing me to transition into a more strategic role while empowering them to flourish as lead planners and day-of coordinators.

Do you have a favorite event you have done or one you are most proud of you can elaborate on?

I take pride in all my events, yet I believe my finest work is still ahead I've had the privilege of orchestrating weddings at esteemed venues such as The Boston Public Library, Four Seasons, and Mandarin Oriental Each event holds its unique charm, whether it's the venue's grandeur, the culinary delights, the intricate designs, or the seamless execution of timelines No event is without its challenges, but I firmly believe that embracing this philosophy prevents complacency and ensures impeccable results

Looking ahead to 2024, I am eagerly anticipating a lineup of truly remarkable events From venturing into new territories like The Cliff House in Maine to collaborating with fresh vendors, we are poised to unveil innovative designs and experiences. It's a journey I'm immensely proud to embark upon.
