The town of Ilulissat is nestled deep inside Disko Bay, so far in that the weather is quite stable as are the water conditions.

Ilulissat is a town that is known for its famous icefjord, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site with the world’s fastest calving glacier. At about 40 meters of calve ice per day, the glacier calves approximately 46 cubic kilometres of ice each year, an amount that is equal to the total annual water consumption for the whole USA! Experience this magnificent natural phenomenon from the only holiday cottage with a view overlooking the Ilulissat Icefjord. At an elevation of 470 metres, the cottage looks out at the Sermeq Kujalleq towards Sarfarsuaq.

Your view from the cottage spans some 20 km of the fjord, and within a 10-minute walk, you can get a view of most of the icefjord.

Ice fishing You can take an excursion with an icefjord fisherman by dogsled, and after a memorable day out on the ice, you can return to either the cottage or town of Ilulissat by snowmobile.

Northern Lights The Ilulissat Icefjord stretches far inland and is blessed by very consistent weather. In this amazing natural setting, you can experience the splendour of a clear night sky like few other places on earth. The breathtaking spectacle of the northern lights is something not to be missed in this incredibly calm landscape. Experiences included with an overnight stay in the cottage.

Boat tours

In the summertime, you are able to walk to the Dead Glacier (“døde bræ” in Danish) and you can also walk from the town of Ilulissat to the cottage.

Jump on a tour boat to experience Ilulissat and the surrounding area, the famous iceberg banks or go whale watching.

In the winter months, you can drive out to the cottage by snowmobile and take the opportunity to snowmobile over to the Dead Glacier.

Ilimanaq (Claushavn)

And if you are so inclined, the cottage can also be reached by dog sled.

Take a round trip boat tour to the town of Ilimanaq, explore the village and enjoy a good meal in the newly renovated building that was the home of Poul Egede in the 1700s (son of Hans Egede). On the trip to Ilimanaq, you will sail past the iceberg bank, which is a breathtaking, serene natural wonder.

Oqaatsut (Rodebay) The village of Oqaatsut is situated 15 km north of Ilulissat. With approximately 45 residents, this is a small settlement worth discovering. Opportunity to enjoy a good meal.

You can travel to the village by boat, snowmobile or dogsled.

Dog sledding Experience Ilulissat by dogsled, meander through town or over to Oqaatsut, or journey out to the fishing grounds of the Ilulissat Icefjord. We can customize a package according to your wishes.

Helicopter tour In the summer months, you can take a helicopter tour to the house/cottage inside the fjord, which is located about 17 km as the crow flies from Ilulissat, (minimum 5 persons at a price of DKK 2.000 with prices subject to change).
