When compared to other materials used in civil construction in Brazil, wood frame, has great potential for replicability as a prefabricated system, speed, cleanliness in execution and little waste of material and possible recycling. The system is also favorable for its lightness, for allowing mass and isolation adaptations, making it suitable for the adaptability principles between different climatic zones in the country.

The urban proposal is based on the identification of existing problems and on the recognition of the cultural, historical, social, economic and environmental aspects of the Ribeira. The intersection of these elements, added to sustainability strategies, guides the multisectoral approach of the project, characterized by the following intervention categories: urban mobility, building and landscape
heritage, housing, employment and income, public spaces and urban, cultural, social and sports facilities. From there, the actions were concentrated in six strategic axes, called “headwaters”, which configure local development-inducing poles. The interventions flow from these areas and converge, similarly to a river delta, in the main proposed public space: the Nova Orla do Potengi, defining the concept of the proposal.
Empty warehouses will be adapted to receive the Comunity Center of the Fishermen, whose main objective is to preserve and disseminate the knowledge related to artisanal fishing. This space will be a bridge for the reconnection of the Maruim community and other populations traditional fishing activities. The construction will have spaces for capturing courses, a library, maintenance and production of small vessels, rooms multipurpose activities, meeting rooms; all surrounded by a public square identified, spatially, by a new landmark, a sculpture with an analogy to fishing.
Thus, the transfer of the Museum of Popular Culture Djalma Maranhão for the installations of the old workshop sheds, with the possibility of a exhibition area 2.5 times larger than the existing one in the building from Augusto Severo Square. The station will be transformed into Public School of Arts of Ribeira, composed of workshops for the production and teaching of handicrafts and regional arts, as well as circus, dance and theater workshops, especially to the local traditions of the Ribeira and Rocas districts.

This pavilion represents Rio de Janeiro in the international architecture fair UIA (Union Internationale des Architects), as the seat city for the next edition of the event, in 2021. Inspired Rio de Janeiro’s remarkable natural landscape, composed by curvy rock mountains, the pavilion is formed by plans that allude to the city’s rugged horizon. We translated the shape of Pão de Açúcar and Morro dois Irmãos, two very well known points of the city skyline, into architectural planes, using a parametric architecture algorithm.

The “unity” concept adopted in this design is based at the four elements of nature: earth, water, fire and air. In this sense, we seek to create the connection of these elements so that each individual, with its own personality, experience and spirituality, absorbs, in a particular way, the energies coming from these elements.
This proposed sacred archtiecture aims to fit harmonically on the site context in Tanaf Village. The local culture, materials, climatic conditions and the emerging needs were respected and fundamentally important on the development of this design proposal. In that sense, the main design idea is to bring to its users awareness that in a single country, city or even a small village, as Tanaf, there are may different beliefs from diferent people; uniting religions isn’t our claim, but it is simply allowing the free of cult for those.

New Cabrini Green Homes is a design proposal for the 4th year studio during my exchange studies at Illinois Institute of Technology, in Chicago.
Cabrini-Green Homes site is frequently associated with bad public housing in the United States, due to crime and gang violence over the years.
The studio briefing asked to completely remove the existing buildings in the original and completely recreate the area, redesigning both the landscape and the new buildings, that should incorporate commercial and housing units.
The building footprint should be near minimal and the newly proposed architecture, when viewed from above, should camouflage itself in the green space around it.
