The journey of employability requires looking at the entire lifecycle of a talent’s career path.
With 60% of Africa’s population being under the age of 25 and a 7% unemployment rate in Africa, the biggest challenge is not having a brain drain but rather making this undiscovered talent to be the most visible, valuable and stand out in their domain and industry
This is a team sport and it requires various stakeholders to play their part, so that we can quickly and continuously test different strategies, learn what’s working and what’s not
We are biased towards shining light on how huge this opportunity is. We are creating access and building an ecosystem to ensure that our vision of creating 10,000 jobs in the next three years is realized.
Cheers!
Alida Rwabalinda Editor-In-ChiefElvis, inspired by the vibrant work culture of Kigali, embarked on a meticulous journey of setting up the ideal office space, driven by a deep appreciation for efficiency and comfort in the remote work landscape.
Recognizing the pivotal role of wellchosen equipment, Elvis dedicated considerable thought and planning to this transformative project, infusing it with the unique flair of Kigali style.
The foundation of the workspace lay in the carefully selected essentials – an ergonomic office table and chair. Ensuring a comfortable setup to alleviate any discomfort during extended work hours was a top priority. Elvis strategically positioned the laptop and screen on the table, creating a dual-monitor arrangement to enhance multitasking capabilities and elevate overall productivity.
Technology played a key role, with a highquality headset for virtual meetings and a TV for streaming content during breaks, adding a touch of Kigali sophistication. Elvis also prioritized music, incorporating a speaker for a positive work atmosphere. A fan ensured a comfortable temperature, while a water bottle kept hydration within reach.

WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND AND SPECIALIZATION?
WHAT WERE YOU DOING BEFORE JOINING INNOV8POD INCUBATOR PROGRAM?
I am Happy Norbert Hora Ndihano, a Rwandan. Simply listening to music is my hobby. I hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a focus on Software Engineering from INES-Ruhengeri. I am a Software Developer and lab technician at INESRuhengeri, and I also teach occasionally.
Before joining the INNOV8POD Incubator Program, I was working within the community, but collaboration with others wasn't easy.
WHAT LEARNINGS DID YOU ACQUIRE IN THE INCUBATOR PROGRAM?
Upon joining the INNOV8POD Incubator program, I acquired a lot of things: leadership skills, time management, teamwork, and most importantly, I learned how to use new ICT tools like Slack for communication, Notion, Agire, Zoom, Google Meeting, and Mirror for collaborative tasks with different users.
We aimed to streamline patient data retrieval across Rwandan hospitals. Our solution addressed the manual process for patients, eliminating the need to repeat their history. Simultaneously, for doctors and nurses, we tackled the lack of comprehensive information, reducing time spent on analog file creation and improving risk assessment.
CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE DEMO DAY PRESENTATION?
About Demo Day, we had been waiting for a long time and were excited to reach INES-Ruhengeri. We were interested in the audience, presented our projects, and the audience asked questions, showing curiosity about tech. We had a fantastic time and enjoyed lunch with cohorts 1, 2, 3, and 4. To those who want to pursue a career in tech, I would say the door is open, keep moving because we are turning in the world of technology.
WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND AND SPECIALIZATION?

CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE DEMO DAY PRESENTATION?
Demo day was the best day because we have to present what we have done and to know what others have been working on during incubator and of course we were waiting for the result of the effort we put on project during incubator.
WHAT WERE THE PROBLEMS YOU WERE TRYING TO SOLVE?
As genius tech team, we worked on Go transportation project where we wanted to solve problems of long queues during Go to work and coming back home and also help transportation companies to well allocate the buses according to the existing number of passengers waiting for the buses
TELL ME ABOUT THE PROBLEM VALIDATION AND JOURNEY MAPPING?
As we did a research on passenger we found out that they always be late to work because of spending a longtime on bus stop waiting for the buses and on the side of transport companies we found that it is very difficult for them to track where there is a long queue and how the drivers worked during a day.
The solutions proposed is to build a system to automate public transportation in Rwanda. The system will automate transport companies' operations, by auto-assigning buses to routes according to the passenger queues on bus stops and Passengers will be able to optimise their travel by accessing all information about current transportation status.
