From the Chairman’s desk RE/MAX has turned 7 and I am very proud to say that it is our untiring determination to excel in the real estate segment that has enabled us to grow as a strong and trusted brand name in India. Delivering unmatched customer service and taking real estate to a global level with professionalism are the factors that we have kept in our mind in all endeavors. Indian real estate is going to see a huge growth in the investments as a result of the ease in doing business in India due to regulatory reforms by the Modi government. I always say that Real Estate is one of the smartest and safest investments of an individual as I see a long term potential in this industry. The year 2016-17 will bring back the cheer as we will see the customers coming back to the market and Real Estate moving to a more stable state.

Bangalore collaboratively participated in the Business Opportunities Show conducted by Franchise India to increase the affiliate network in their respective regions. With these kinds of activities done by every region on a monthly basis, I am sure that they will be successful in creating a footprint for themselves in their regions. The spotlight section this time highlights the journey of Mr. Yuvraj Singh Shekhawat, Broker Owner, RE/MAX Solution Specialists, RE/MAX Delhi NCR. Yuvraj has always been an exemplary leader and while reading the testimonials shared by his associates for him, I feel very proud of having him as a part of our network. Looking at how Yuvraj has very successfully transformed into an entrepreneur and has mentored his associates, I feel that it’s learning for all of us. At last, I would just like to say that we all need to pull together and be proud of who we are and what we are doing to change the lives of the people we touch, be it BO’s, BA’s, buyers and sellers. We are in an industry that offers huge wealth opportunities, crying out for some form of professionalism and transparency. Let’s give it what it needs and reap the rewards.

For RE/MAX, the year of 2016 has already started with a bang! In 2015, we had introduced a number of initiatives to build our offices and help more people join the bandwagon. Looking at how the first month of the year had shaped up, we at the headquarters can’t help being mighty proud of each one of our Affiliates across the country. From the Vice Chairman’s desk It was on 19th January of 2009, when Sam was in Denver and did the final signing for bringing RE/MAX to India and since then we have seen RE/MAX and its affiliates grow in terms of network, transactions and a brand that has impacted lives of many all over the country. It is an accomplishment for all of us and I would like to thank everyone for providing us support over the last 7 years that has helped us in continuously growing and evolving at every stage.

The month of January has been every eventful for the headquarters as well as the regions. The RE/MAX Academy of Real Estate (RARE) has taken a great initiative by introducing the yearly training calendar for all the classroom trainings at the National Headquarters. Training and learning is an on-going process and this calendar will be of great help to everyone in the network in planning if they would like to train or re-train themselves on various concepts covered in our trainings. In addition to this, RARE has also initiated zonal trainings for different regions, like the one we conducted for Regards RE/MAX Andhra Zone wherein we trained the Saloni Chopra Regional Owners and Regional Staff on franchise sales. Realty Bytes Real estate to see white money starting to pour in. A new chapter in India’s urban history has started with the Smart Cities Mission finally taking some material shape. Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday announced the list of 20 cities that have qualified to build smart infrastructure with Rs. 200 crore each from the Central government’s first phase of funding. The Ministry has given top rating to Bhubaneswar for its robust Smart City plan. Urging the country’s mayors to “work hard” for the improvement of their municipalities, Mr. Naidu said the government would soon introduce the credit rating system for cities so as to attract foreign investors. “Every city should follow credit rating. Otherwise no one will come and invest from outside,” he said, after announcing the 20 names here. Mr. Naidu said the government would grant every winning city a sum of Rs. 500 crore as “overall cache of start-up funds” and expects the State governments to provide an additional Rs. 500 crore.

According to mission guidelines, the total State and Central financial assistance for each smart city would be Rs. 1,000 crore. “This is the first time that an urban mission of such scale and ambition has relied so little on the decision-making by the Government of India,” said Mr. Naidu, adding that unlike the previous urban development schemes the government had adopted the “bottom-up approach.” With an aim to achieve “inclusive growth”, the mission promotes integrated city planning, where the government’s policies such as Swachh Bharat Mission and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation complement each other. Outside agency The Central government has created an outside agency named Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), which will be headed by a CEO, and will be given powers to “execute” the proposed developments and projects. “The professionally managed SPV will be empowered to execute the smart city projects in a timely and cost-effective manner while ensuring that the quality of the outcomes is benchmarked against global standards,” the Minister said. Since June 2015, the government hosted several workshops and training programmes for mayors and municipal commissioners.
