Known as the Hot Wells Shooting Range and previously known as the Houston Hot Well Hotel and Sanitarium this unique 48 acre parcel of land has been making history in Houston since 1904. With wild catter’s discovering an artesian well, a two story hotel was constructed with a picnic area and two hot baths using therapeutic mineral water. It was in 1913 that Hot Well Subdivision was platted to take advantage of the proximity to the mineral waters. During the 1960’s the Lamar family purchased the facility bring the resort to a peak. Two mineral water concrete basins were on the property with one reported to be around 100 degrees while the second basin was a little more tolerable. In addition to the mineral baths, there was an Olympic sized swimming pool, 10 acres of picnic grounds, and huge pavilion with a report that at one time there would be between 300 and 500 guest. When according to the family, the casing for the artesian well collapsed the property underwent a change to the Hot Wells Shooting Range. The shooting range was actively used for 40 to 45 years before closing in 2017. Placed between Barker Cypress Road and Fry Road just off Hwy 290 the property with such an amazing tie to the history of the area is being offered for sale. With frontage on Cypress Creek the tract has creek frontage, three large lakes of which one is spring fed, one wet weather lake, artesian water well that needs to reworked and a private water well. The multitude of uses for the land could be single or multifamily development, commercial or recreational expanding on the historical uses of the past.
