Port of Kalundborg Information
Strategically good location – both on land and at sea The Port of Kalundborg has a strategically good location on the map – right next to the T-route, which is the deep-water route connecting the Baltic and the North Sea. The T-route has a guaranteed water depth of 17 m., while Kalundborg Fjord offers 15 m water depth. The New West Port in Kalundborg, also offers 15 m water depth, and the inner part of the port offers up to 12 m. water depth. On the land side, there is only an hour’s drive to Copenhagen via route 23. Route 22 towards Slagelse provides easy access to the E20 motorway, from which there is a short distance to the rest of the country.

Quaysides – endless possibilities
New West Port New port expansion, completed in the summer 2019
Quay 500 m long and 50 m wide • 15 m water depth • 330,000 m² The new port area is a multipurpose quayside, open for all types of commodities, production and storage facilities. Kalundborg Container Terminal, will be moved to the new area during the summer of 2019 and will occupy 50,000 m² in the eastern part of the New West Port.
Inner Port Wide selection of quaysides for all types of cargo commodities
Up to 400 m length • Up to 12 m. water depth • Ro/Ro facilities This port area already has activities within dry bulk, liquid bulk, Breakbulk and Ro/Ro. The biggest bulk terminal in Denmark is located at the inner port, together with the container terminal which will be moved to the New West Port late summer of 2019. Besides this, all the quaysides are multipurpose quays and available for all cargo types.
Cargo Commodities Containers Kalundborg Container Terminal is a feeder terminal, which is connected to Bremerhaven and Hamburg. The feeder vessel is calling the terminal at the end of each week. It is equipped with 2 mobile container cranes and provide a flexible operation which is second to none. The terminal also offers short and long term storage of containers and equipment at competitive rates. Liquid Bulk Liquid bulk is presently operated via quay 10 and 11. The Port of Kalundborg and Kalundborg Tank Terminal are always looking for possibilities to increase the volume and are open to new inquiries. The terminal currently has a total capacity of 38,000 m³.
Dry Bulk
Breakbulk and Heavy Lift
The dry cargo operations cover a broad range of agricultural products, such as fertilizer, grain, feed and building materials. Due to its deep water port, large areas and terminals, Kalundborg Port is one of the market leaders in Denmark.
The Port of Kalundborg has large areas close to the quays, which can be used for breakbulk and heavy lift cargoes. The port has excellent facilities for handling general cargo and heavy lift, with our portal and mobile port cranes.
Ro/Ro
Warehouses
The Port of Kalundborg has several ro/ro quays and can handle all cargo that is hauled onboard the ships on trailers and trucks. The Ro/Ro facilities are located at quay 10 and 12.
Throughout the port area, the port and its clients have abt. 54,000 m² of warehouses, and even more area available for outdoor storage. Please contact us if you are interested to hear more about the storage possibilities in Kalundborg.

Gottwald – Mobile Port Crane Lifting capacity: • 100 ton at 24 m outreach • 39 ton at 51 m outreach The Gottwald can be mobilized anywhere in the harbour area, with the following equipment: • Hook for general cargo or heavy lift • 16 m³ or 6 m³ grab • Container beam for 20’ and 40’ containers
Portal Cranes The port has two portal cranes, which is operating on quay no. 12 and 13. Both with a maximum capacity of 25 ton, one at an outreach of 18 m, and the other at an outreach of 13 m. They have a total outreach of 20 and 28 m. Both can be equipped with the following setup: • Hook for general cargo or heavy lift • 7,5 m³, 5,5 m³, 5 m³ or 4,5 m³ grab
Sennebogen 870 Mobile loading/unloading machine, with a maximum lifting height of 20 m at 16 m. outreach, and max depth of 7 m with 15 m outreach. It can be mobilized anywhere in the port area, with the following equipment: • Hook for general cargo up to 15 ton • 3 m³ or 3.5 m³ bulk bucket • Log grab • Poly grab • Cross grab for up to 10 ton More info on the cranes can be found on our webpage, where the crane brochure can be downloaded.
