In her debut poetry collection All my faces- Jasmijn Muijser reflects on vulnerable and complex themes, such as love, girlhood, being afraid to grow up and struggling with mental illness ever since she was a kid. The collection consists of eighty poems, aimed at understanding who she is and unraveling her identity from all the layers- and faces she’s been made to wear. All my faceschallenges societal standards around what it means to be a girl, and whether or not perfectionism and anxiety are an innate part of girlhood- or a curse we have been made to wear.Since the book focuses on the author’s own experience with mental illness, deep themes such as depression, grief and eating disorders will be frequently discussed. All my faces is a rollercoaster of emotions, and will hopefully connect with girls- and readers- worldwide.“Am I beyond all my facesmy masks I pick to show the worldAm I someoneor after all this timeHave I simply become a mould?”
