from our publishers

This is the first time in a few years when I’ve been openly excited for summer.

Don’t get me wrong…in theory, it always seemed like it would be a much needed slow down with warm weather, cold drinks and a common theme of swimming pools, outside adventures and endless memories.

Wishful thinking.

Kids out of school. Sometimes at camps. Sometimes at home. Too young to put them on automatic pilot. So, there’s constant work to do there. Oh yeah…then there’s this little magazine business we’ve been doing for the better part of 13 years. The dog days of summer require even more attention – especially for ad sales and prospecting. Nothing quite like ping ponging around town in a suit to represent Cherry Creek Magazine the proper way in 90-degree weather while chatting about new partnerships.

BUT…this summer will be different. Manage expectations. Be prepared for the unexpected. Know that the grind will pay off later this year. And be self- ish in attempting a true balance between work and leisure.

You know what also helps the drive and the tonic for clear thinking? The people and places we’ve featured in this issue. You can’t do what they’re doing without battling and persevering and navigating summers that have their own ideas for how life is going to go.

Big news for the Cherry Creek art world from one of its usual heavyweight galleries (page 40). Our summer dining guide (page 51) celebrates the hard work and endless pursuit of yummy from our select group of chefs, while Betsy and I sat down at one of Colorado’s best new restaurants in Le Colonial for our unforgettable experience with He Said, She Said (page 34).

In Cherry Creek Home, these homes and designs don’t build themselves. Tireless efforts go into this issue’s stunning properties, home trends, and head-turning amenities that we’re proud to be a part of in sharing and spot- lighting.

So far, so good. And SO much more between the pages that I didn’t mention because I was rambling.

Better to ramble than scramble. Enjoy our latest issue, and here’s to as man- ageable a season as summer will allow.

Yours truly,

Every Friday through July, their rooftop transforms into an open-air movie theater, and it’s seriously cool. For just $25, you get the movie, pool access, and an unforgettable vibe—though Halcyon guests get in free. The lineup, from Jumanji to Selena, hits all the nostalgic feels. Gates open at 8 p.m., films start at 8:30 p.m., and you’ll definitely want to snag tickets online. It’s such a unique way to enjoy summer nights, and we’re already planning our visit.

This sophisticated haven, nestled within the Clayton Hotel, channels the rustic allure of Los Altos de Jalisco, blending heritage flavors with a campestre spirit that feels like a bonfire bash under a starlit sky. Curiel, with his wife and partner Kasie, crafts a menu where blue crab-stuffed portobellos dance with hoja santa remoulade, evoking memories of his father’s Jaliscan kitchen. The beverage program is no less audacious, balancing agave spirits like raicilla and mezcal with a wine list curated by an in-house sommelier, offering Mexican, European, and American vintages with equal panache. Alteño’s ambiance—elegant yet untamed—mirrors the rolling hills of its inspiration. Diners rave about the sweet potato dish, a testament to Curiel’s knack for elevating the humble. For those seeking a taste of Jalisco with a side of chic, Alteño is Cherry Creek’s newest culinary darling, where tradition meets a deliciously modern swagger.

His fiancée (the “hem” of the duo) brings a collection of casual yet feminine looks that complement the hats, focusing on quality and individuality. Together, they’ve crafted a space where the interplay of headwear and garments tells a cohesive story. The boutique, nestled in Cherry Creek’s bustling retail hub, offers a personal touch, with staff trained to guide customers in creating tailored looks. For Thomas and his fiancée, Hat & Hem is more than a store—it’s a reflection of their shared dedication to craftsmanship and collaboration. GLOWUP gets a LE BILBOQUET

Le Bilboquet, Cherry Creek’s bastion of Parisian charm, has emerged from a thoughtful remodel with a refreshed identity that feels both timeless and invigorating. Since its 2019 debut at St. Paul Street and Third Avenue, this elegant French restaurant has been a neighborhood favorite, and its latest transformation, guided by creative director Darrah Ferrari Wahlstedt, leans into intimacy and versatility. The space now balances the warmth of a cozy bistro with sophisticated new areas designed for connection and celebration. In particular, Denver-based The Woven Window handled the fabrication and installation of nine custom drapery panels with hardware, as well as eight decorative bolster pillows, all designed to elevate the ambiance of the restaurant’s private lounges.

The remodel introduces distinct spaces that elevate the experience. The Fleur Room, a private dining haven for up to 40, blends rich mahogany and brass sconces with French doors opening to a verdant patio, perfect for seamless indoor-outdoor gatherings. The Library, with its sage-green walls and antler chandelier, seats 16 amid curated bookshelves and herringbone floors, offering an elevated setting for chef tastings. The reimagined Lounge, evoking a Swiss Alps retreat with its stone fireplace and gray banquettes, debuts a dedicated menu of cocktails and small bites like caviar with blinis and smoked salmon with crème fraîche.

The main dining room, adorned with new blue velvet booths and vibrant art, retains its French classics—steak frites, Cajun chicken—while introducing daily specials like Coq au Vin and Dover sole. Le Bilboquet’s evolution feels like a tribute to its patrons, offering fresh spaces to linger, savor, and celebrate.

Watches have been worn, strapped to the wrist, for just over 100 years now. During that time, timepieces have evolved from being a fanciful wrist decoration to becoming the pre-eminent fashion accessory for discerning men and women today. In between, the wristwatch found extreme utility and use during World War II, following the humble beginnings as the “trench watches” of World War I. Designs were inspired along the way by important historical events, such as the discovery of the Tomb of Tutankhamun which launched the Art Deco era of design, especially the rectangular watches of the 1930s. It should be noted that the original “Tank” (rectangular) watch was penned by Louis Cartier in 1917, inspired by the battlefields and following the shape of the tanks in the fields as seen from above.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the wristwatch is the different size trends through the ages. Today, one of the first questions many potential watch-buyers ask is which size is appropriate. This primer will talk you through selecting the appropriate size. Of course, there is no substitute for trying on

watches yourself to see which size best suits your style, appearance and wrist size.

Beginning in the earliest days of wristwatches, around the time of WWI, the watch size was much smaller than today at an average of 28mm - 32mm. Each next era saw a steady increase in size with 32mm - 34mm being typical for the “field” watches worn in WWII. The Modernism of the 1960s brought a bolder look for men, with the size growing to an average of 34-36mm. This upward size trajectory was reinforced by the introduction of today’s iconic “tool” watches such as the Rolex Submariner and Omega Speedmaster.

with JEREMY OSTER

Desires to conquer the seas and to reach the moon inspired the functionality and design of the modern watch. Sizes continued to grow and peaked in the early 2000s when oversized watches were all the rage. Men’s watches averaged from 43mm all the way to the crazy sizes of 50mm and even larger! This lasted until the financial crash of 2008 which saw a return to a more sober style and the gradual reduction in size all the way to today’s classic and vintage-inspired design preference. Although larger watches still exist, the market trend has seen a return to vintage proportions with the average man’s wristwatch today being between 37mm-42mm. Some even prefer slightly smaller just as some prefer larger.

Ladies, of course, get to choose any size they like with many women today favoring men’s designs. Which size is for you? It comes down to personal style and the purpose of the watch. A pure dress watch would expect to be slightly smaller and likely a little thinner. Perhaps a 36mm – 39mm watch would be appropriate. A sportier appearance, such as a chronograph or dive watch, 39mm – 42mm would be the sweet spot today. It is not unusual today for a watch enthusiast to regularly switch between various sizes depending on the mood of the day or night. Ironically, the covid pandemic brought an entirely new generation of watch buyers with “time on their hands” into the market and this generation of buyer also shaped the current trends. Social media and chat groups transformed the owner experience and shared the passion.

The excitement and styles today are often led by a new era of “Independent” watchmakers and collectors who see the wristwatch as their item of desire, passion, prestige and personality. With the emergence of the cell phone, the watch is no longer a utilitarian tool. Rather, it is an individual expression of personal style. For many, it is an escape from the world of endless technology into a more peaceful world of mechanical beauty.

A few stores in the world, such as Oster Jewelers, have been at the forefront of this evolution in watch desirability with tremendous support for the independent artisans. As such, today, a store such as Oster Jewelers is ideally positioned to advise, educate and expertly assist all watch enthusiasts from the beginning novice to the world’s most sophisticated collectors.

Visit Oster Jewelers in Cherry Creek North to learn more about the world of Independent watchmaking and to discover for yourself the beauty of a fine mechanical timepiece, curated and perfectly sized for your wrist. After all, time and size matter.

Longevity Lab’s Founders Redefine Wellness

For Dr. Jonathan Schoeff and Candace Schoeff, the husband-and-wife founders of Longevity Lab Wellness in Greenwood Village, holistic health is a calling shaped by their lives as parents.

aising a young son and daughter, Jon and Candace know that longevity requires more than simply, well, longevity . It demands functional strength, vibrant energy, and a balanced body to meet the joys and challenges of family life. Their vision has transformed Longevity Lab into a concierge wellness practice, where bio-identical hormone replacement therapy, medical weight loss, whole body health, sexual health, and an expansive suite of aesthetic treatments converge to empower discerning clientele. Here, wellness is a legacy of thriving, crafted for those who aspire to live fully, inside and out.

A PARTNERSHIP FORGED IN PURPOSE

Dr. Jonathan Schoeff, a board-certified general surgeon and fellow of the American College of Surgeons, brings over two decades of expertise in minimally invasive spinal surgery and longevity science. A sought-after speaker, he grounds Longevity Lab in clinical rigor. Candace Schoeff, the co-founder and aesthetic director, complements his precision with her mastery of functional medicine and aesthetics, her background in cheer and dance infusing the practice with warmth and relatability. Their partnership, both personal and professional, was profoundly shaped by the loss of their first daughter—a tragedy that became a turning point.

The loss of their infant daughter was a heart-wrenching moment that tested Jon and Candace’s resilience. “It was a grief that could have defined us,” Candace reflects, “but we chose to let it guide us toward something greater.” Determined to be present and vital for their son and, later, their second daughter, they immersed themselves in the science of wellness, exploring hormone optimization, nutritional strategies, and advanced therapies to rebuild their physical and emotional strength. This journey of healing inspired

Longevity Lab—a physician-directed practice designed to address the interconnected needs of aging. “We’re creating a space where others can find the vitality we fought for,” Jon says, his conviction underscoring their shared mission.

WELLNESS AS A PARENT’S IMPERATIVE Parenthood, with its relentless pace, has taught Jon and Candace the value of holistic health. “Our children are our greatest motivation,” Candace says. “To chase them, lift them, and be fully present, we need energy and resilience—qualities that wellness sustains.” This ethos drives Longevity Lab’s concierge model, offering 24/7 access to expert providers and bespoke care plans. Unlike fragmented healthcare, their practice integrates every facet of wellness, ensuring clients—many of whom are parents—can thrive without compromise.

Longevity Lab’s services are crafted to meet the demands of modern life.

• Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy: Restoring hormonal balance, this therapy boosts energy, stabilizes mood, and sharpens focus, empowering women to navigate busy days with ease. “It’s like rediscovering your vitality,” Candace shares.

• Medical Weight Loss: Using GLP-1 agonists and personalized plans, clients achieve sustainable weight reduction while preserving muscle tone and skin elasticity, resulting in a refined physique.

• Whole Body Health: From vitamin injections to metabolic optimization, these treatments enhance immunity and resilience, supporting active lifestyles.

• Sexual Health: Discreet, science-backed solutions foster intimacy and confidence, addressing a vital aspect of wellness with sensitivity.

"

“OUR CHILDREN ARE OUR GREATEST MOTIVATION. TO CHASE THEM, LIFT THEM, AND BE FULLY PRESENT, WE NEED ENERGY AND RESILIENCE—QUALITIES THAT WELLNESS SUSTAINS.”

AESTHETICS: A CELEBRATION OF SELF-CARE

At Longevity Lab, aesthetics is not about vanity—it’s about honoring oneself through restoration and renewal. “Self-care is a powerful act,” Candace emphasizes. “Wanting to look restored is a natural part of feeling your best, especially for women balancing family and ambition.” The practice’s aesthetic offerings, led by Candace’s expertise, are designed to enhance natural beauty with precision and artistry.

These treatments include:

• Injectables (Botox and Dysport): These neuromodulators smooth fine lines and wrinkles, softening forehead creases, crow’s feet, and frown lines for a refreshed, youthful appearance with minimal downtime.

• Dermal Fillers and Biostimulators: Hyaluronic acid fillers restore volume to lips, cheeks, and jawlines, while biostimulators like Sculptra stimulate collagen production for long-lasting rejuvenation, addressing deeper lines and sagging skin.

• RF Microneedling: This advanced treatment combines radiofrequency energy with microneedling to boost collagen, reduce scars, and improve texture, delivering firmer, radiant skin. It’s ideal for tackling acne scars or uneven tone.

• EmSculpt NEO and Emtone: EmSculpt NEO builds muscle and reduces fat, sculpting areas like the abdomen and buttocks, while Emtone smooths cellulite, enhancing body confidence.

• EmFace: A needle-free facial lift, EmFace tightens and lifts skin, restoring youthful contours without surgery.

• Exion and LIPOcel HIFU: These body contouring treatments tar- get stubborn fat and tighten skin, offering non-invasive solutions for a sculpted silhouette.

These aesthetic services, grounded in cutting-edge technology, empower clients to feel confident and restored.

A HAVEN OF CARE

Nestled in Greenwood Village, Longevity Lab is a haven where precision meets luxury. Jon and Candace lead with authenticity, having tested their treatments to ensure efficacy and empathy. “We’ve created a space where you’re seen as a whole person,” Candace says, her passion evident.

For clients, Longevity Lab is a revelation. It’s a place where fragmented care gives way to a seamless, bespoke experience. “We were tired of chasing wellness through disjointed solutions,” Jon notes. “Longevity Lab is our answer—a single destination where health and beauty harmonize.”

BEYOND THE INDIVIDUAL: A COMMUNITY OF WELLNESS

Jon and Candace envision empowered individuals inspiring healthier families and communities. “As parents, our well-being shapes our children’s future,” Candace reflects. “By helping our clients thrive, we’re fostering a legacy of vitality.” Their hands-on approach, from consultations to ongoing support, ensures every client feels valued.

The concierge model suits busy professionals and parents, offering flexibility and accessibility. “Time is precious,” Jon says. “Our care fits seamlessly into your life, so you can focus on family, aspirations, and joy.”

SMASH IN THE SQUARE of meet Anthony Constantino Jr .

His immense passion for this neighborhood is unapologetic. Cherry Creek North is his happy place. Now, for the seventh straight year, his baby - Smash in the Square – will preside over Fillmore Plaza this summer as one of the year’s most anticipated art festivals. Anthony Constantino Jr. is our Man About Town, sharing his favorite haunts, best advice practices, and what goes in to creating and directing an art festival of this magnitude here in Cherry Creek.

You’ve created the annual Cherry Creek North Arts Festival, Smash in the Square. What inspired this idea for you and why feature it in Cherry Creek North? The idea behind Smash in the Square is composed of several meanings, but a couple being “expression with intent” and the community getting together for a good time. I was an artist growing up and, through all my experience participating in festivals, I decided to take the reins myself and create my own brand - Smash Fine Arts Festival - to give artists the best opportunities for sales and promotion. The Cherry Creek North District was always the targeted destination because it’s a world-renowned venue for affluent art clientele. Specifically, Fillmore Plaza as our boutique-styled arts festival fits the venue like a glove. It’s a hot spot for classy luxury and exquisite culture.

What do you like about the art scene in Cherry Creek? What’s great about the art scene in CCN is the high-end art galleries, beautiful murals, and the art collector community.

Do you have any favorite spots in the neighborhood to shop and dine? My favorite spots to dine are North Italia and Heaven, shopping at State & Liberty and New West Knifeworks, and staying at Hotel Clio.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? Hard work and determination pay off and to never give up.

What’s the last show that left an impression on you? I love to watch movies, and a tv show that left an impression and that’s really good is Ozark

What’s something that most people don’t know about putting together an art festival like Smash in the Square? It is incredibly difficult and takes years of building solid trust with your artists. A successful art festival is all about having a good promoter (director). If the artists trust that the promoter will have their best interests at heart, they will follow them. Anyone could try and coordinate a

show, but if a promoter doesn’t have the trust of artists then it will fail. Finding the right venue is also essential. It must be a place surrounded by affluent clientele and a lot of residences. The top shelf artists that partake in the Smash Fine Arts Festivals and other high-end festivals are seasoned professionals that participate in shows year around and travel from across the country, so high sales are very important.

What are three things you can’t live without? Music. Coffee. Art.

Who are your five dream dinner guests? David Fincher, Trent Reznor, Halsey, Christopher Nolan, Nicole Kidman. We’re eating Filet Mignon.

The most fun you’ve had in a city is where? Cherry Creek North (Denver) is by far my favorite area to visit, work, and play. The CCN District is such a majestic and beautiful place. I don’t think anywhere compares to its unparalleled luxury, hospitality, artistry and sense of community.

What would you tell your 18-yearold self now? That everything happens for a reason and to dream big.

Smash in the Square takes place twice this season: June 14-15 and August 9-10. For information and tickets, visit smashinthesquarefestival.com

gal about town

She’s been a Cherry Creek North neighborhood staple for over 15 years. She’s a fighter. Ask cancer about that. She’s a lover. Ask her patrons about the hugs she gives. Her heart is full with the artists she features, and her world is full of the vibrant colors that she insists on surrounding herself with every day. Katie Friedland of Show of Hands has her own cheering section as one of the truly special and beloved personalities in Cherry Creek, and she’s our Gal About Town.

SHOW OF HANDS

How did Show of Hands come about? It started as an arts and crafts co-op up in Boulder. They wanted a store in Denver, and so I took that over 15 years ago. The inspiration for me is that it’s a happy place and if you just come in and walk around and feel better, then I feel like I’ve done my job.

What kinds of items and products do you feature? Lots from local artists as well as products from America and outside the U.S. Show of Hands supports several women-owned and small business from all over the world.

Talk about your passion for art because that’s a big part of what this store is all about. Art is my soul. I love color. It’s who I am. Art and color make the world a better place. I don’t believe in gray – it’s the absence of color. Art tells a story. I love going to people’s houses and learn about their art, as well as who picked it out and a story they can share about it. I can tell you a story about every piece of art here in the store and the person who made it and why they did what they did, including all of our greeting cards.

What’s a memorable day for you here at Show of Hands? The days that stick out are the ones where I make genuine connections with people. I’m very open about my life. I had cancer. Out of that came a whole cancer section of greeting cards, and when I connect with somebody about that and they thank me for that, we shed a tear or cry. I also love giving hugs since COVID. I think that’s something that I missed. I have days where I just give things away for free because I think the world needs to be a kinder place. I do that a lot because it’s very important to me.

What does “Show of Hands” refer to? It was coined by the 13 members of the Boulder co-op that started the store. Back when it opened 45 years ago, everything was hand-made, so it was “show of hands.” We’re going to show you everything that was made by our hands.

You’ve been a mainstay here in Cherry Creek North for years. What do you attribute the store’s longevity to here in the neighborhood? Grit. Luck. Community connections. Sometimes I really have no idea. We’ve moved four times. The community knows us and they have our back. During COVID when we were shut down and when I was sick, I can’t believe how many people showed up for me, my staff, and for the store.

What’s some advice you’d give your 18-year-old self? Wear your scars proudly. Work really hard. Believe in your own magic. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something because you can. Never let anyone dull your sparkle.

Art is my soul. I love color. It’s who I am. Art and color make the world a better place. I don’t believe in gray – it’s the absence of color. ”

What’s the last book you read? Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experience by Brene’ Brown

What are three things you can’t live without? My son. My dog Millie…I call her “Woo Glue” because she’s the glue that holds us together. Color.

What’s the last song you sang in your car? All Too Well by Taylor Swift (the 10 minute version) cranked all the way up with the sunroof open.

What are some of your favorite haunts in the neighborhood? Artisan Center. Another woman-owned store. We work very well together. The Cherry Cricket. And I love Melissa and Jeremy Oster and what they have at Oster Jewelers.

How do you relax?

Long walks with my dogs and sitting on my couch binge-watching a show.

The most fun you’ve had in a city is where? Denver.

Who are your five dream dinner guests and what are you eating? My dad. Ted Lasso. P!nk. Taylor Swift. My true love…and I don’t know who that is yet. We’re eating Leo’s Coney Island from my home state of Michigan, so it’s chili cheese fries, grilled cheese, and Coke.

MATTHEW SAMSON, BAR AMORINA

The hottest and most popular new watering hole in Cherry Creek North brings with it a sparkling reputation from its creator, The Culinary Creative Group. The best of the best when it comes to service, quality, atmosphere and attention to detail, so it’s only right that we sit down with Lead Bartender Matthew Samson to learn all things about the man behind the counter of Bar Amorina on the ground floor of Clayton Hotel & Members Club.

How did you get into this industry and why? I started bartending back in Iowa while I was in college. When I got into grad school here in Colorado, I just picked it back up as a way to support my schooling. During that time, I fell in love with the way food and beverage played into our culture. I think there is something noble about acts of service and trying to make a stranger happy. Even now, after all this time, I feel called to hospitality.

What’s the vibe at Bar Amorina? How is it different from other bars in the neighborhood? Bar Amorina is a cocktail lounge inspired by the Italian Coast. We want you to feel like you can escape to a cabana on the Amalfi Coast in a moment’s notice. So, there are a lot of fun Italian drinking traditions on display: Negronis, Spritzes, and Amaro are all featured prevalently, as is food reflecting Executive Chef Max MacKissock’s time in Italy. We want to capture that effortless elegance that Italians are famous for, but, at the same time, provide a fun and relaxed atmosphere for our guests.

Is there one drink that you love to make? Lately, I have been making and drinking a lot of Trinidad Sours. It’s a modern classic that utilizes Angostura bitters as a base and utilizes lemon and almond syrup to create a drink that is both refreshing and savory. It’s my favorite cocktail at the moment, but that’s only because I haven’t had a Mai Tai in a while.

Is there a cocktail with a particularly interesting background or story to it that you like? I feel like most cocktail stories are pretty boring. The best stories are from the really old stuff. I like the story of the Mai Tai, because there’s this debate about who created it. Either Don the Beachcomber or Trader Vic’s.

What’s the most interesting or funniest comment that you’ve overheard from guests while you’re working behind the bar? Nothing you can print here.

What do you know about your Cherry Creek audience? What do they appreciate in a place to relax and have some drinks? This is actually my third stint navigating a bar in Cherry Creek. I was previously the lead bartender at both B&GC and Chez Roc. I think in that time I have seen tastes and trends shift, but ultimately people want a place that is attentive to their needs. A crisp martini, a great bottle of wine, and a healthy pour of bourbon all go a long way; but I think everyone enjoys the feeling that comes with exceptional service. That never goes out of style.

What’s the best drink we’ve NEVER had? The Bar Amorina Gimlet. We put our own twist on it by using a gin infused with lemons from the Amalfi Coast, and then add a spiced vanilla note as well as a sweet aloe vera liqueur. We top it with basil oil to complete the drink. It’s refreshing while being both familiar and completely new.

What’s the oddest drink order you’ve ever received? One guy asked for a Manhattan with olive brine once. I think about that once a week.

Where do you get your inspiration? Usually from the guest. I like to ask questions to get an idea of what they are looking for and try to cater the experience to their expectations.

What are some seasonal cocktails that you recommend? An Amaro Sour. You can choose your own adventure with that one, choosing to make it more or less bitter. Most bartenders would be happy to help you with this.

LE COLONIAL

We’re married. We work together. We see each other all the time. So, what could we possibly talk about while out for dinner?

In this case, food. And lots of it. Join us at Le Colonial in Cherry Creek.

He: I knew this place would be packed. So great. Just like their Chicago location when we went there before South Bend for the Clemson/Notre Dame (your dad’s alma mater) football game a few years ago.

She: That was a fun trip! Met our Charleston cousins in South Bend, by way of Chicago. We LOVED that dinner. The entire menu was epic. Such an incredible surprise when we heard they were coming to Cherry Creek. Worth the wait.

He: Baby Bok Choy sounds like a rapper that the kids listen to. Not our kids, mind you, unless he’s a part of Minecraft or Blippi.

He: We’ve started with the Crispy Shrimp & Pork Rolls, and I’ve got to admit that I could only eat about 20 of these. Good lord. Wrap them in the lettuce with the jalapenos and the chili lime sauce and brace yourself. These are phenomenal.

She: I love them. And these Pan Seared Chicken Dumplings are out of this world too. Amish Farm Chicken, Scallions, Ginger and Black Vinegar Sauce. Just delicious. But let’s back up for a second and talk about my cocktail. It’s the Lychee Martini for which they’re known, and I can see why. Refreshing and tropical, but not too sweet or contrived. The perfect way to begin.

He: The Amish don’t mess around. I’ll always eat their farm chicken. What do you think of the Crunchy Green Papaya Salad? It was highly recommended.

She: This would be a perfect summer lunch order. Cool, Crunchy. The papaya is sweet and goes well with the spicy red dressing. It has a country club-feel to it. Very yummy.

He: This Grilled Pork Tomahawk is award-worthy, and Cherry Creek is the only Le Colonial location in the country where it’s offered. Isn’t that weird? It’s a masterpiece. Melts in your mouth and doesn’t even need the sauce it comes with. Perfection.

She: It’s a beautiful presentation too. All of the dishes pose well. This MisoGlazed Salmon is to die for. Shiitake Mushrooms. Baby Bok Choy. Coconut Lobster Broth. Annatto Oil.

She: The boys still talk about seeing Minecraft at The Alamo Drafthouse. I’m going to still be talking about these Garlic Noodles as well as their Signature Fried Rice. I could feast just on the Le Colonial side dishes and feel like I’ve died and gone to Heaven.

He: I expect this place to be a hot spot for a very long time. The atmosphere is so on point. The art. The style. The furnishings. The colors. It’s all extremely inviting, not to mention therapeutic in its own way.

She: It’s incredibly chic. I love the chinoiserie undertones and the beautiful wallcoverings, murals and original art. Not to mention that candle that was burning near the hostess stand. There was some type of sandalwood in it and it set the tone in a very real way for me.

He: I didn’t even notice that, but what I am noticing is this artistic looking sundae coming our way. Now this looks decadent.

She: It is SO good! Homemade chocolate ice cream, caramelized banana, Valrhona chocolate sauce, crème chantilly, toasted sliced almonds, and vanilla sablé. This is not your average ice cream sundae, and it’s everything you would want it to be!

He: The perfect way to end such a wonderful meal. I was also eyeing their pineapple upside down cake. I’d love to see le Colonial’s interpretation, with orange scented rum sauce and coconut genoise.

She: Next time. Or, we could come for a lychee martini and dessert and just sit at the bar. Did you see how vibey it was as we were walking in? That’s a bar I would love to sit at and linger over cocktails. Or pineapple upside down cake.

Kevin and Betsy Marr are “He” and ‘She.” They work and live in the Denver area, where they produce Cherry Creek Magazine and raise their five and seven-year-old boys…all under one roof.

JARRED DE PALO ELEMENT HOME meet

He had me at Jimi. Meeting with our friends at ELEMENT Home in Cherry Creek North for an entirely different reason, a chance gaze at the wall-adorning, eye-catching art featuring Jimi Hendrix immediately bumped a new, much more important question to owner Robert Zimmerman to the top of the queue in my meeting, “Who is this artist?” Meet Jarred De Palo, aka Mr. Depalakua. This is what we love about artists. They’re everywhere, but only a few get to be our Artist in Residence.

Your work is a blend of urban street art mixed with fine art collage work and detailed with hand cut paper to create exclusive compositions. Your mantra is to bring the streets into a gallery setting. What or who inspired this style for you?

My inspiration stems from the time I spent documenting street art and graffiti in New York City. Between 1999 and 2005, I walked the streets of all five boroughs with my brother Daniel, capturing images of the vibrant krylon and rustoleum covered walls that adorned the city. From the Boogie Down Bronx to the Graffiti Hall of Fame at 106 & Park, Lower East Side Manhattan, the iconic 5Pointz building in Queens (RIP), the legendary “Never Die” Bed-Stuy in Brooklyn, and all the way out to Shaolin Island. Shout out to the Wu-Tang Clan! During those six years, I encountered countless styles, techniques, and artists, all of which have profoundly influenced my creativity.

When I think of the streets and graffiti, I don’t think of Maui. I know growing up in Hawaii shaped you with its topography and beauty, but what else did it instill in you? The Aloha spirit! It carries various meanings, each deeply rooted in Hawaiian values. To me, it embodies a profound respect for the ʻāina (land) and the Hawaiian culture. It signifies more than just a greeting; it reflects a way of life. One built on kindness, love, and a deep sense of community. The Aloha spirit encourages us to live with empathy and understanding.

I’ve seen work by you include Jimi Hendrix, Muhammad Ali, Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan. What interests you and intrigues you about celebrating musical and celebrity icons? Whether in front of a camera, behind a microphone, or in the ring, having an unmeasurable passion for what you love is, in my eyes, the true mark of someone living life to the fullest, not just going through the motions. Life is not a dress rehearsal! The impact these icons have made in their respective industries and the countless lives they’ve touched is nothing short of remarkable. I deeply admire the hard work, sacrifice, and dedication required to master one’s craft. This relentless pursuit of excellence is something I find truly intriguing and inspiring.

Do you listen to music while you work? Absolutely. I don’t think I could create without listening to music! People always ask if I am listening to the artist of the piece that I am creating. Truth be told, 99 percent of the time I am listening to local reggae jams from back home. You can take the boy out of the islands, but you can’t take the island out of the boy.

What’s something about the art industry that most people don’t know? This is a great question! Something I don’t think people always consider is when you buy from an artist, you’re not just purchasing an object; you’re investing in their time, passion, and a piece of their soul, supporting their creative journey and livelihood. Each piece of art represents countless hours of practice, experimentation, and dedication, all of which are reflected in their final work.

You work with ELEMENT Home in Cherry Creek. Talk about that partnership. Having a partnership with ELEMENT Home has been an extraordinary relationship. As an artist, it is very important who you choose to represent you. They have taken the time to invest in knowing who I am and what my work represents. The enthusiasm that Robert Zimmerman, his rock star sales team, and my manager have about me and my work make me feel right at home!

What’s your impression of the art scene in Cherry Creek and Denver as a whole? I moved to Denver in June of 2005. Just a year later, I hosted an art show in Cherry Creek showcasing over 100 local artists in a vacant restaurant space. Don’t ask me how I pulled that off, as I was barely tapping into the art scene. That night I remember quite a few people expressing that they had never been to or seen a show like this in Denver. Fast forward to 2025 and the Denver art scene has exploded. The city is covered in amazing murals, art galleries have popped up in every neighborhood, we have multiple well established art fairs and have a ton of artists on a national if not international level. I am quite impressed with the growth I’ve seen in the last 20 years and will enjoy continuing to watch it grow.

Do you have a particularly unforgettable moment as an artist? I had never been a resident artist at an established gallery and it was always a dream of mine. I used to live near Tennyson Street in Denver and would walk by this beautiful gallery all the time and just admire the art and how well curated the space was. One day I built up the courage to stop in and ask if they were looking for any new artists. I talked to the gallery owner, showed her a few pictures of my work on my phone and, if I remember correctly, unknown to me, I believe she was following me on social media or had at least seen my work at some point. A few weeks later that dream became a reality when the owner of Westward Gallery, Michelle Courier, brought me on as a resident artist. This was a monumental moment in my career. Over time, she not only represented me, but she also became a mentor and provided me with a wealth of knowledge about the art industry and until today is a dear friend.

escape to garden of the gods Resort

THE VIEW ALONE DESERVES A TRIP.

The gods knew what they were doing with their yard work when they oversaw the startling beauty of these red rock sandstones set against the backdrop of Pikes Peak.

Garden of the Gods Resort tucked away in the foothills of Colorado Springs definitely deserves its flowers. Here at this hillside Shangri-La, you have your choice of doing nothing, something, or a bit everything. Simply staring at nature’s fashion show from the front row is perfectly acceptable and completely understandable at this property.

However, you’re going to get hungry and that’s when Executive Chef Nathan Gresham and his award-wining culinary team come to the rescue with unforgettable flavors and creations whether it’s breakfast, lunch, happy hour, or dinner. The dining experience here was beyond memorable and worthy of occasional returns down I-25 to experience what each season brings to the menu.

The lodging boasted nods to décor and design reminiscent of a Mid-Century Modern feel with Native American accents that we’ve enjoyed in the likes of Scottsdale, Santa Fe, and Palm Springs.

Saving the best for last, the spa experience is next level. Providing an embarrassment of riches with treatments, services, and wellness offerings not found under one roof just about anywhere in the country, Denver locals should strongly con sider day trips for a spa day second to none.

Morrison’s Red Hotel: A Blend of Heritage and Innovation

Morrison, Colorado, a town cherished for its historic charm and proximity to the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater, welcomes its first hotel: The Red Hotel. Spearheaded by Root Architecture + Development, a Colorado firm with a 12-year legacy along the Front Range foothills, this boutique project marks a milestone for both the community and the firm, which will also house its headquarters here. Following months of thoughtful dialogue with Morrison’s residents, the Root Team—partners Zeke and Amy Freeman, Chad and Krista Wallace—secured unanimous approval from the Town Board for a design that balances modern flair with the town’s storied essence.

Initially envisioned as a three-story, 21-room structure with a sprawling rooftop patio, the origi nal plan was deemed too imposing for Morrison’s quaint Main Street. After careful refinement, the approved design features a two-story, 20-room hotel with a modest 750-square-foot roof deck, ensuring harmony with the town’s character. Located on Bear Creek Avenue beside the Prague Café, the Red Hotel will offer a café and gelato bar open to all, inviting both guests and locals to savor its ambiance.

Set to break ground in spring with a 2026 opening, the project reflects Morrison’s commitment to preserving its heritage while embracing progress. The Red Hotel, with its community-driven evolution, promises to be a beacon of collaboration and style.

Guests can immerse themselves in personalized consultations, rejuvenating spa treatments, and group yoga and meditation classes, all guided by Sensei’s pillars of move, nourish, and rest.

Sensei offers four signature packages: the *Discover Sensei Experience* provides daily wellness or spa services; the *Guided Wellness Experience* delivers a tailored itinerary with expert guidance; the *Rest and Reset Program* targets stress and sleep with six private sessions; and the *Optimal Wellbeing Program* uses a WHOOP wearable to optimize health goals. Locally inspired treatments, like the cacao body scrub, Savasana sound massage, or traditional Temazcal ritual, fuse Los Cabos’ cultural richness with wellness innovation. “This partnership redefines holistic wellbeing,” says General Manager Thomas Jecklin. Sensei’s CEO Alexandra Walterspiel hails it as a milestone for their global expansion.

This Spring and Summer we have our standout cocktails and mocktails arriving. On the bar menu, you will see the new Passion Pisco Sour, Floral Moral, and Caipiréa. On the mocktail side, you’ll see our Espresso Notini, Clarita, and Maria Bonita. All of them are colorful, vibrant and ideal for evenings at Toro.

NARRATIVE AT THE JACQUARD Executive Chef Charles Albright We are really looking forward to a new turn of the menu to bring us out of winter. We are focusing on your classics and going to be touching base with our creation around what our core values are at Narrative. We are a neighborhood restaurant that is in touch with our community and our atmosphere to cater to a relaxed summer vibe.

BAR DOUGH Executive Chef Stefy DeVita : At Bar Dough, we’re working on several dishes in preparation for spring and summer. I’m excited to lean into what the season gives in terms of fresh veggies. Luckily, I have a lot of great relationships with farmers, so I’ve also been making some plans to work with them on some fun unique dishes. We want to have more fun shareable small bites on the menu, and this is the perfect time for that.

LOCAL JONES Executive Chef Matt Heikkila Rare Bird will be our highlight of the spring and summer featuring our new woodfired pizzas with seasonal vegetables.

OLLIE & PARK’S Managing Partner Ned Nichols I love our beautiful blackberry and almond margarita with Alban Eno tequila, and our new dinner menu features Colorado lamb tenderloin with a chipotle and honey glaze; pan seared beet-infused salmon fillet with orange and rosemary, bear Blanc sauce, and Chef Jason’s new strawberry gazpacho.

WHAT’S A DISH YOU’RE PARTICULARLY EXCITED ABOUT?

CLAYTON HOTEL & MEMBERS CLUB Tomato Salad. We are not sure what this year’s version will be, but summer tomatoes are the best.

TORO LATIN KITCHEN & LOUNGE Nothing says Toro to me more than our Mezcal-flambeed tomahawk. Beyond the amazing tableside presentation, it invites guests to celebrate the opening of the summer season with spectacularly grilled Colorado beef. Ideal for sharing, it gets everyone in the spirit for big moments like graduation, the 4th of July, and Father’s Day.

NARRATIVE AT THE JACQUARD We are very excited to bring back our grilled halibut from last season, with a new twist to enliven the soul of summer.

LOCAL JONES: I always get excited in the spring as we are able to start getting the fresh green vegetables worked back into the menu. As the weather warms, the dishes get lighter and brighter and it’s fun to see the progression from the braised and roasted winter dishes into the bright colors of spring.

BAR DOUGH: Honestly, one of the dishes I’ve been planning for Bar Dough is a Calabrian salsa and bean salad. It’s going to be packed with flavor and texture. Served with crispy focaccia, burrata and spring alliums. We are also working on a nice light fish entree with speck wrapped cod, brown butter and a pea aglio bolido that’s very yummy.

OLLIE & PARK’S: I’m very excited about the 20-foot black walnut cocktail lounge that we’re building on our patio. My favorite dish is the shrimp gnocchi, which is out house gnocchi and gulf shrimp tossed in a lemon beurre blanc, served over an English sweet pee puree.

WHAT’S YOUR TOP SUMMER “FOOD” MEMORY AND WHY?

CLAYTON HOTEL & MEMBERS CLUB The Mexican street corn at the flea market. It’s always one of my favorites with lots of tajin.

TORO LATIN KITCHEN & LOUNGE As a Singaporean, food is a part of our DNA. It is the expression of our identity, of family, our culture. It brings us all together in a way that nothing else does. That’s why some of my fondest memories involve the dinner table with my loved ones during past visits back home. While my mother, my brother, and I may not agree on everything, there is one thing we can agree on - a bowl of rich, fragrant, spicy and deeply satisfying laksa can make everything right in the world.

NARRATIVE AT THE JACQUARD When I was younger, I used to spend a lot of time with my cousins. We would always be outside enjoying the heat of the days during the summer. Some of the best times were when we would tube the creek in Boulder. Our parents would drop us off in the morning at the library and we would go to the gas station and fill our tubes with the free air. We would then walk the creek up to Eben G. Fine Park, then float all the way down to Scott Carpenter Park and walk all the way back up to path to do it again. The simplicity of spending the day on the creek and having fun with my family is truly a memory that will always remind me of the slower times of Summer.

LOCAL JONES: My favorite memory as a chef is going to harvest garlic bulbs at a local farm back in the Pacific Northwest It was a lot of work to do, but I was able to bring most of my kitchen team out to the farm and pull on the bulbs and tie them in the barn rafters to cure. After they were ready, it was a great point of pride to be able to include these in our menu where the entire kitchen team was responsible from getting from the farm to the table.

BAR DOUGH: A favorite memory tied to this time of year is getting my home garden going. It’s more than just a hobby for me - it’s therapy. There’s something incredibly grounding about putting your hands in the soil and nurturing something from seed to harvest. It’s a completely different way of connecting with food, one that’s deeply personal and inspiring. I started gardening three years ago, and now it’s something I really look forward to every season. It reminds me why I fell in love with food in the first place. A bonus this year is Bar Dough has 10 new garden beds and I am really excited for our guests to be served food that we are growing and nurturing.

OLLIE & PARK’S: My favorite childhood food memory is probably trying oysters for the first time in Sag Harbor, New York, at my aunt’s restaurant. I didn’t expect to love how sweet and salty they were. I tried something adventurous and fell in love with it.

CLAYTON HOTEL & MEMBERS CLUB BBQ. Being from Texas, there is nothing better than BBQ and a cold beer on a hot afternoon.

TORO LATIN KITCHEN & LOUNGE Spring and summer to me are all about celebrating the beauty of the products we have locally. There’s something about the Colorado climate that creates fruit and vegetables that are to be celebrated. No other place does this better than the Cherry Creek Farmer’s Market, whom we have collaborated with before on a Chef’s Table format dinner at Toro. However, at home, nothing represents the seasons better than a light, fresh orzo salad with vegetables like snap peas, artichokes, and radishes.

NARRATIVE AT THE JACQUARD Though not on our menu, one of my favorite meals that always makes me feel like summer is Paella. The blend of all the flavors and notes makes me reminisce about family gatherings during summertime.

LOCAL JONES: Anything with spring peas in the dish! My go to is an English pea risotto with a cured egg yolk shaved over top. Nice and light to match the warmer days.

BAR DOUGH: I love a good, fresh, simple salad—especially this time of year. If I had to pick one, I’d say a fresh Caesar salad is hard to beat. When it’s done right—crisp romaine, a punchy umami dressing, some shaved Parmigiano and homemade croutons—it’s just classic and perfect. But honestly, I’m also a big fan of a tomato salad. When tomatoes are in peak season, all you need is a little olive oil, some flaky salt, maybe a bit of basil or burrata, and it’s magic. It’s about celebrating what’s fresh and letting the ingredients do the talking.

OLLIE & PARK’S: My favorite summer meal would be a beautifully braised leg of lamb..

Crafting Connection

Inside Derivative Mixology’s Bespoke Cocktail Revolution

In Denver, where refinement meets creativity, a quiet shift in hospitality is taking shape. Derivative Mixology, a boutique beverage catering and consulting brand founded by Derek Ott, is redefining the art of sharing a drink. Far from the bustle of crowded bars or the uniformity of mass-produced cocktails, Ott’s vision is intimate, deliberate, and deeply personal. His company specializes in creating custom cocktail experiences in the private settings of clients’ homes, turning everyday gatherings into memorable moments of connection and storytelling.

Derivative Mixology began in 2019 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, during a period when the hospitality industry faced severe challenges from the global pandemic. Ott, an experienced bartender with a talent for fostering community, launched the “Featured Cocktail Experience,” a to-go cocktail program designed to support struggling bartenders, distilleries, and food and beverage businesses. “It was about more than just selling inventory,” Ott reflects. “It was about uniting people during one of the most isolating times in our industry’s history.” For over a year, he managed a platform that highlighted local talent, provided steady income, and reminded Pittsburgh’s residents of the joy a well-crafted drink could spark.

What started as a grassroots effort to support a struggling industry has grown into something far greater. After moving to Denver, Ott saw a chance to reimagine Derivative Mixology as a symbol of luxury and innovation. Denver’s thriving private hospitality scene, with its enthusiasm for experience-driven events and appreciation for craft, offered the ideal setting. “The move to Denver wasn’t just about changing locations,” Ott explains. “It was a shift in purpose—a chance to engage with a community that values connection and originality.”

Today, Derivative Mixology operates as a blend of artistry and intimacy, offering tailored in-home cocktail experiences that feel as much like performance art as they do hospitality. From private dinners to corporate events, Ott and his team design occasions that reflect the client’s vision, grounded in precise technique and enriched by storytelling. Each cocktail tells a story, each ingredient plays a part, and each event forms a chapter in a broader narrative of human connection. “A well-crafted drink isn’t just about what’s in the glass,” Ott says. “It’s about who you’re sharing it with, how it makes you feel, and the story it conveys.”

A well-crafted drink isn’t just about what’s in the glass. It’s about who you’re sharing it with, how it makes you feel, and the story it conveys.”
-Derek Ott, Derivative Mixology

The process starts with a consultation, where Ott carefully listens to the client’s wishes, whether it’s a small gathering for a milestone birthday or a high-profile corporate event. From there, he creates a menu that captures the essence of the occasion, often using local spirits, seasonal ingredients, and custom garnishes that enhance the presentation. The result is an experience that feels both luxurious and deeply personal, as if the cocktail were made exclusively for the guest enjoying it. “We’re not just serving drinks,” Ott emphasizes. “We’re creating moments that make people feel valued, celebrated, and inspired.”

This focus on intimacy resonates strongly in an era when the hospitality industry is grappling with staffing shortages and rising costs. As restaurants adapt to these challenges, Ott has embraced the trend toward smaller, curated gatherings. “We’re entering a new phase of hospitality,” he observes, “one where quality outweighs quantity, and personal connection takes precedence over grandeur.” In-home experiences, he believes, are the future—a perspective that appeals to Cherry Creek’s discerning residents, who value exclusivity and authenticity in equal measure.

For private clients, Derivative Mixology offers a unique opportunity to transform their homes into venues for extraordinary evenings. Picture a dinner party where each course is paired with a cocktail that tells a story—perhaps a mezcal-based drink inspired by a client’s recent trip to Oaxaca, or a gin creation infused with herbs from their own garden. Ott’s attention to detail extends beyond the drink itself; he considers the glassware, the lighting, and even the music, ensuring every element works together to create a cohesive experience. “My goal is straightforward,” he says. “To create something unforgettable, whether it’s a single cocktail or a full-service event.” Ott’s approach has earned Derivative Mixology a loyal following among Denver’s elite, from tech entrepreneurs hosting private gatherings to corporations aiming to impress clients with custom events. Yet, despite the brand’s high-profile clients, there’s an approachability to Ott’s philosophy that sets it apart. He believes everyone deserves to experience the magic of a perfectly crafted cocktail, no matter the size of the event.

This inclusive spirit, combined with his technical skill and creative vision, has established Derivative Mixology as a leader in Denver’s private hospitality scene.

As Cherry Creek continues to grow as a center of culture and sophistication, Derivative Mixology is well-positioned to influence its future. Ott’s dedication to innovation—whether through experimenting with molecular mixology or partnering with local artisans—keeps his brand at the forefront of the industry. But at its heart, Derivative Mixology is about more than just cocktails. It’s about building connections, igniting joy, and reminding us that even in an uncertain world, a shared drink can tell a story worth savoring.

a new canvas for CHERRY CREEK

ATELIER BY RELEVANT GALLERIES

by

In the heart of Denver’s Cherry Creek North, where luxury boutiques and culinary hotspots hum with cosmopolitan energy, a new cultural landmark is set to illuminate the art scene. Atelier by Relevant Galleries, slated to open this month, promises to redefine how Denverites engage with fine art. This venture, an ambitious extension of the AD Galleries collective, is not just another gallery—it’s a bold statement about art’s role in community.

Opening in the former Clayton Lane Fine Arts space, Atelier is a daring experiment in creativity, a testing ground for artistic innovation, and an energetic hub where art breathes in real time. As the latest venture from AD Galleries, a family-owned collective with over a decade of galleries in elite destinations like Aspen, Vail, Santa Fe, and Scottsdale, Atelier is set to become a cornerstone of contemporary art, not just for Denver but for the entire AD Galleries network. With its focus on emerging artists, experimental work, and a revolutionary artist-in-residence program, Atelier promises to be a gallery where boundaries are tested, new voices emerge, and the evolution of art unfolds before our eyes. A space where innovation meets accessibility and where the avant-garde shakes hands with the approachable.

A Visionary Concept for a Storied Collective

AD Galleries has long been a titan in the art world, curating collections that blend the timeless with the cutting-edge across its portfolio of ten-plus galleries. Its Denver outpost, Relevant Galleries at 170 Clayton Lane, has earned acclaim for its focus on fine art photography by David Yarrow and bronze sculptures by Gib Singleton, cultivating a loyal following of collectors who value its intellectual rigor and curatorial depth. Yet, Atelier by Relevant Galleries marks a bold departure from this established formula. Conceived as a concept gallery for the entire AD Galleries network, Atelier is a laboratory for artistic risk-taking, designed to push boundaries and test new ideas that will reverberate across the company’s prestigious roster.

A Legacy of Artful Ambition

To understand Atelier, one must first appreciate its roots. Relevant Galleries, a jewel in the crown of AD Galleries, has long been a tastemaker in Denver’s art world. Yet, Relevant is more than a showcase; it’s a mission-driven enterprise that fosters long-term relationships with artists, ensuring their work resonates with audiences for years to come.

AD Galleries, the parent company, is no less impressive. A family-owned collective with ten galleries across opulent locales like Aspen, Vail, Santa Fe, and Scottsdale, AD Galleries has spent half a century shaping the art world. Its portfolio spans the works of modern masters and contemporary visionaries, blending tradition with innovation. The launch of Atelier under the Relevant Galleries banner is a natural evolution for AD Galleries, reflecting its commitment to pushing boundaries while staying rooted in curatorial excellence.

Atelier, however, is not a carbon copy of its predecessors. It’s a fresh canvas, designed to capture the zeitgeist of Cherry Creek North—a neighborhood that AD Galleries CEO Michael Olson calls “the predominant shopping district in the Midwest.” This new space will diverge from Relevant’s focus on Yarrow and Singleton, instead casting a wider net to spotlight emerging talents alongside established names. Think of it as a gallery that’s equal parts laboratory and salon, where experimentation and dialogue are as essential as the art itself.

The Atelier Ethos: Art as Conversation

The name “Atelier” evokes images of artists’ studios—places of creation, collaboration, and unfiltered creativity. It’s a fitting choice for a gallery that aims to be more than a static display of objects. Atelier by Relevant Galleries is envisioned as a dynamic space where art sparks conversation, not just admiration. Atelier will pri-

oritize “long-lasting exhibitions” that explore specific themes or concepts, curated with an eye for emerging trends. This approach aligns with Relevant’s broader mission to develop deep expertise in its artists’ collections, fostering a connection between creator and audience that goes beyond the transactional.

What sets Atelier apart is its commitment to accessibility without sacrificing sophistication. While the gallery will showcase works by names like Russell Young that carry weight in contemporary art circles—it’s also dedicated to nurturing brand new voices. This balance is deliberate. By juxtaposing established artists with rising stars, Atelier creates a dialogue that invites both seasoned collectors and curious beginners.

The choice of name—“Atelier,” derived from the French term for a working studio— signals this ambitious ethos. Traditionally, an atelier is a space where artists create, collaborate, and hone their craft, a place of raw creativity and unfiltered experimentation. Atelier by Relevant Galleries embraces this spirit, transforming the former Clayton Lane Fine Arts space into a dynamic environment where art is not just displayed but actively made. Under the curatorial vision of Courtney Olson, the driving force behind Relevant Galleries, Atelier will serve as a launchpad for collectors seeking accessible yet provocative works by lesser-known artists, while also offering a platform for emerging talents to develop their voices.

Art in Motion: The Artist-in-Residence Program

At the heart of Atelier’s mission is its groundbreaking artist-in-residence program, a first for AD Galleries. Up-and-coming artists—whether young, undiscovered, or simply poised for a breakthrough—will be invited to live and work in Denver during their tenure, staying at the adjacent Hotel Clio and creating new pieces in the Atelier space itself. This residency model is a game-changer, allowing artists to immerse themselves in the creative process while engaging directly with the gallery’s audience. The works they produce during their stay will be showcased in Atelier’s exhibitions, offering collectors a rare opportunity to acquire art that is fresh, immediate, and deeply personal.

This approach reflects Atelier’s commitment to art as a living, breathing process. “Atelier is where boundaries are tested, new voices emerge, and art evolves in real time,” says Olson. “It’s about showcasing the in-between moments—the experiments, the debuts, the creative risks—that define contemporary art’s future.” By fostering an environment where artists can take chances and hone their craft, Atelier aims to bridge the gap between creator and collector, making the gallery a space of dialogue and discovery.

“It’s about showcasing the in-between moments—the experiments, the debuts, the creative risks—that define contemporary art’s future.”

The Language of Flowers: Russell Young’s Inaugural Installation Atelier’s opening exhibition, set for May 2025, will set the tone for its audacious vision. The gallery will debut with The Language of Flowers Series, 2025 by Russell Young, an artist whose work deftly blends historical reverence with contemporary edge. Drawing inspiration from the tradition of Dutch floral still-life paintings, Young’s series reimagines the genre through hand-pulled, four-color screen prints. Each artwork is a meticulous study in detail and vibrancy, capturing the delicate beauty of flowers while infusing the compositions with what Young calls “a sense of contemporary intrigue and introspection.”

“This technique allows me to capture the intricate details and vibrant colors of the flowers, while simultaneously infusing the compositions with a sense of contemporary intrigue and introspection,” Young explains. The result is a series that feels both timeless and urgently modern, a fitting introduction to Atelier’s ethos of bridging tradition and innovation.

The exhibition will also feature a selection of Young’s other works, including his pop culture iconography. Known for his bold, silkscreened portraits of figures like James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis Presley, Young has a knack for transforming cultural touchstones into meditations on fame, identity, and mortality. These pieces, with their gritty glamour and emotional depth, will complement the floral series, showcasing Young’s versatility and Atelier’s commitment to multifaceted storytelling.

Curating the Future: The Atelier Vision

At the helm of Atelier is Courtney Olson, whose curatorial acumen has made Relevant Galleries a pillar of Denver’s art scene. Olson envisions Atelier as a space that not only showcases art but fosters creativity at every level. “We’re creating a gallery that’s as much about the process as the product,” she says. “By inviting artists to work in the space and share their journey with our audience, we’re demystifying the creative process and making art more approachable without sacrificing its sophistication.”

Olson’s approach is both strategic and passionate. By focusing on emerging and mid-career artists, she aims to offer collectors access to works that are fresh, affordable, and poised to appreciate in value—a savvy proposition in a market often

dominated by blue-chip names. At the same time, she’s committed to maintaining the intellectual rigor that defines AD Galleries, ensuring that each exhibition is a thoughtful exploration of theme, medium, or concept. “Atelier is a place where collectors can discover the next big thing,” Olson notes, “but it’s also a space where ideas take center stage.”

A Ripple Effect Across AD Galleries

As a concept gallery for AD Galleries, Atelier’s influence will extend far beyond Denver. The artists, ideas, and curatorial strategies tested here will inform the company’s broader network, shaping exhibitions and acquisitions in galleries from Aspen to Scottsdale. This ripple effect underscores Atelier’s significance as a proving ground for innovation, a place where AD Galleries can take risks without disrupting the established excellence of its other locations.

For collectors, Atelier offers a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of emerging talent. The gallery’s focus on accessible price points and lesser-known artists makes it an entry point for new collectors, while its curatorial pedigree ensures appeal for seasoned buyers. “We’re not just selling art,” Olson says. “We’re inviting people to be part of a movement, to invest in artists who are shaping the future.”

Art as a Living Dialogue

Atelier by Relevant Galleries is more than a new space—it’s a manifesto for what art can be. By blending the intimacy of an artist’s studio with the polish of a world-class gallery, it creates a space where creativity is not just displayed but lived. Russell Young’s The Language of Flowers Series will set the stage, but it’s the artists who follow—those yet-to-be-discovered talents working in the Atelier’s residency program—who will define its legacy.

In a world where art can feel distant or commodified, Atelier offers a refreshing counterpoint: a place where art is in motion, where risks are celebrated, and where collectors and creators meet as equals. As the neighborhood prepares to welcome this cultural touchstone, one thing is clear: Atelier by Relevant Galleries is not just opening a gallery—it’s opening a conversation. One that Cherry Creek is eager to join.

The Wellness Routine That changed everything

The Wellness Wake-Up Call

As the editor of Cherry Creek Magazine, my days are a whirlwind of editorial deadlines, community engagements, and parenting two young children alongside my husband and business partner, Kevin. Our lives are full, and I felt the toll of fatigue, stress, and the subtle signs of aging. I’d tackled my weight and overall wellness by incorporating functional medicine and supplementation into my life, but in terms of fitness, recovery and aesthetics, something was still missing. My energy had waned, my skin lost its vibrancy, and finding time for myself amid our demanding schedule felt impossible. Quick fixes— occasional workouts, or store-bought creams—proved ineffective. I realized fragmented fitness and beauty approaches weren’t sustainable. I needed a comprehensive solution that addressed my fitness and skin holistically, tailored to my busy lifestyle.

The Turning Point

This year, I committed to prioritizing self care—not just to feel better but to be fully present. I sought an experience that was elevated, personalized, and efficient, delivering real results without requiring multiple providers. Working in Cherry Creek, I’d heard about innovative wellness destinations, but most offered only pieces of the puzzle—a gym here, a spa there. I craved a single, luxurious hub where fitness, aesthetics, and health could converge seamlessly, providing transformative outcomes with expert guidance.

Discovering Eden Health Club

A colleague’s glowing recommendation led me to Eden Health Club, located in Greenwood Village. The buzz around Eden was undeniable, with its promise of a whole-body wellness approach blending fitness, aesthetics, and advanced health services under one roof. From my first visit, Eden stood out. The sleek, serene space exuded luxury, but it was the personalized care that captivated me. Unlike traditional gyms, Eden focuses on prescriptive wellness, addressing root causes rather than symptoms. Their offerings, from science-backed fitness to medical-grade aesthetics, were designed for busy professionals like me.

My Eden Experience

I began with Eden’s introductory package, a curated experience tailored to my needs as a woman seeking energy and confidence. The process was seamless, with every detail designed to maximize results and fit my schedule.

Fitness and Recovery: A Holistic Approach

Eden’s fitness programming was a revelation. Their classes, led by elite trainers, are rooted in science and focused on longevity, strength, and total-body confidence. I joined the Sculpt classes, a 45-minute blend of slow, intentional movements and high-energy cardio, guided by instructors like Victoria, who ensured proper form while pushing me to my limits. The workouts were challenging yet accessible, leaving me stronger and more energized without joint strain. Unlike generic gym sessions, these classes targeted metabolism and endurance, aligning with my goal of sustainable health.

A pivotal moment was my InBody scan, a detailed analysis of my body composition. The scan revealed insights about my muscle mass, fat distribution, and metabolic rate, highlighting areas where I’d been unknowingly hindering my progress. With this data, my trainer customized my workout plan, emphasizing strength training to boost my metabolism and targeted exercises to improve my posture. The clarity from the InBody scan was empowering, providing a roadmap to measurable change.

Eden’s recovery services elevated my fitness routine. After workouts, I used their infrared sauna, which soothed my muscles and promoted detoxification, leaving me refreshed and relaxed. I also tried red light therapy, a cutting-edge treatment that reduced inflammation and accelerated muscle recovery while improving my skin’s tone. These sessions, seamlessly integrated into my visits, made each workout feel like a complete wellness experience, enhancing both my physical and mental well-being.

It’s not just a health club—it’s a sanctuary where I’ve reclaimed my confidence.

A Game-Changing Aesthetic Consultation

Eden’s aesthetic offerings took my journey to new heights. My comprehensive consultation with Christy Moore, RN, BSN, was transformative. Christy’s warmth and expertise put me at ease as we discussed my aesthetic goals, from addressing fine lines to restoring my skin’s radiance. She listened attentively, crafting a plan that felt indulgent yet results-driven.

Christy recommended Daxxify, a longer-lasting neuromodulator, to smooth my glabella, forehead, crow’s feet, and chin. Nervous at first, Christy put me at ease and assured my that I would have natural, lasting results, aligning perfectly with my desire for subtle enhancement. The Tox Club, which I later joined, offered access to these services with added benefits, making Eden even more appealing.

and reduced muscle fatigue, perfectly complementing my active lifestyle. These additions, seamlessly integrated into my IV sessions, elevated the experience, delivering immediate benefits without disrupting my schedule.

Real Results

Within weeks, the results were undeniable. The Sculpt classes, paired with sauna and red light therapy, increased my strength and energy, making me feel more capable in my daily life. My skin, thanks to Christy’s regimen, began to glow, with improved texture and fewer fine lines. The Daxxify treatment set in quickly and in all the right places, enhancing my natural features without making me look or feel overdone. The BrainTap and leg compression during IV therapy left me refreshed and focused, qualities that enhanced my work and time with my children.

What’s Next

My introductory experience at Eden was just the beginning. I’ve since joined as a member, enjoying fitness classes, access to aesthetics, and recovery therapies. The membership’s flexibility and value make it a seamless fit for my lifestyle.

The Wellness Routine that

Beyond neurotoxins, Christy designed a transformative skincare regimen using medical-grade products. My morning routine included a cleanser, HA5 hydrator, TNS Advanced+ Serum, C+ Correcting Complex, and most importantly, sunscreen. At night, she added retinol, which I introduced gradually to build tolerance. The products, paired with Christy’s guidance, were a revelation, promising to rejuvenate my skin over time. However, the improved texture and glow were almost immediate.

Eden’s aesthetic menu also included options like PRF, dermal fillers for cheeks, lips, and jawline, and microneedling. The comprehensive approach, delivered in a spa-like setting, made every visit feel like a luxury.

Functional Medicine: A Holistic Approach

Eden’s Functional Medicine offerings provide a prescriptive approach to health, addressing hormones, gut health, and energy through comprehensive lab work and consultations with nurse practitioners. Services like GLP-1 therapy, vitamin injections, and IV nutrient infusions support metabolic health and vitality, offering tailored solutions for long-term wellness. These options, available to all members, underscored Eden’s commitment to addressing root causes, complementing their fitness and aesthetic services.

IV Therapy: Enhanced with Recovery

I tried Eden’s IV therapy, a 45-minute vitamin infusion that boosted my energy and immunity, customized for skin health and stress relief. During these sessions, I used BrainTap guided meditation, a headset-based system that combined light frequencies and audio to promote relaxation and mental clarity. The meditative experience calmed my mind, making the IV therapy feel like a mini-retreat. I also used leg compression therapy, which enhanced circulation

Eden Health Club has redefined wellness for me, blending science-backed fitness and transformative aesthetics in a luxurious, personalized setting. It’s not just a health club— it’s a sanctuary where I’ve reclaimed my confidence.

For anyone seeking a comprehensive approach to wellness, I can’t recommend Eden enough.

elcome to Cherry Creek Home, an extension of Cherry Creek Magazine that celebrates the heart of home and the art of entertaining. This issue is a personal one for me, as it shines a light on the women whose friendships and talents make my life—and our community—brighter.

Home should be personal, a canvas for your story, and this magazine follows suit. Several features in this issue are anchored by women I know and love, whose talents and spirits bring light to our community. Among them is Jess Knauf, a dear friend from my early publishing days over a decade ago. Jess’s design sensibility— bold yet timeless—graces our pages with her stunning Cherry Creek showroom (page 88). Her ability to craft spaces that feel both chic and sentimental mirrors the warmth of our enduring friendship.

Then there’s Natalie Kakaty, a fellow mom I met at my sons’ school, whose journey from fashion to interior design has culminated in a breathtaking Littleton residence (page 92). Natalie’s home, crafted for her young daughters and infused with modern minimalism, is a testament to her meticulous eye and warm heart. Our bond, forged through school pickups and shared laughter, makes her story all the more special to share with you.

This issue also holds a piece of my own heart: a brunch I hosted to celebrate friendship (page 94). This gathering, filled with thoughtful details and the women who light up my life, was a reminder that entertaining is about creating moments of connection. From personalized champagne flutes to a “bow bar” sparking joy, the event was a testament to those who make my home feel alive.

These stories—of Jess’s daring designs, Natalie’s soulful spaces, and a brunch that brought women together in love and laughter (and lots of bubbly)—reflect the essence of Cherry Creek Home. This magazine is not just about design; it’s about the people who make our spaces meaningful. As you turn these pages, I hope you’re inspired to infuse your own home with the personal touches and cherished friendships that make life extraordinary.

Yours in style,

Sharing a laugh with my longtime pal, Jess Knauf, outside of her darling Cherry Creek studio.

Originating in ancient textile traditions and gaining prominence in the early 20th century Arts and Crafts movement, block prints have experienced a revival in modern home décor. Their handcrafted charm and intricate patterns surged in popularity during the bohemian aesthetic of the 1960s and 1970s, and now they are reemerging as a favorite for adding artisanal flair to contemporary spaces. From throw pillows and curtains to wallpaper, table linens, and even upholstered furniture, block prints offer a timeless, tactile elegance that infuses homes with warmth and individuality.

Phillip Jeffries, the luminary of luxury wallcoverings, is set to dazzle Denver’s design scene with a chic new chapter. The coveted brand will be available to the interior design trade across Denver, Wyoming, Montana, and Utah, backed by a local concierge team.

Come summer, Denver’s design aficionados can immerse themselves in a temporary pop-up at the Denver Design Center, a tantalizing prelude to the October 2025 grand opening of a 2,600-square-foot showroom. This chic sanctuary will be a masterclass in innovation, featuring dramatic installations, state-of-the-art technology, and over 100 display wings showcasing Phillip Jeffries’ vast, exquisite collections. Intimate design work areas will invite creators to explore a curated array of wallcoverings, from handwoven grasscloths to shimmering metallics, each a testament to the brand’s unrivaled craftsmanship. It’s a space where inspiration meets accessibility, designed to spark creativity.

For 15 years, Phillip Jeffries partnered with Town to bring visionary wallcoverings to the region, a collaboration marked by friendship and innovation, particularly under Town’s founder, Eddy Doumas. As the brands part ways, Phillip Jeffries expresses deep gratitude, carrying forward a legacy of trust with Denver’s design community. Founded in 1976 by Eric and Susan Bershad with just 10 grasscloths in their family garage, Phillip Jeffries has evolved into a global icon, now boasting over 2,200 ready-toship wallcoverings from its 75,000-square-foot headquarters. Renowned for its artisanal collaborations and trendsetting designs— like the iconic Riviera grasscloth or the luminous Moonlight collection—the brand marries timeless elegance with cutting-edge style, earning accolades from Elle Decor to Architectural Digest.

Under CEO Jeffrey Bershad’s visionary leadership, Phillip Jeffries remains a family affair, weaving heritage and innovation into every fiber. Committed to the industry’s fastest delivery, largest selection, and most inventive designs, the brand continues to redefine luxury with a playful, approachable edge.

A GOOD idea ...

Your dinner table just got a jolt of brilliance thanks to Good Eaters, a passion project from former Clayton Members Club tour de force Lydia Howerton that’s as bold as it is sustainable. Founded by the active mom of two, this isn’t just another foodie venture—the healthy meal delivery service is a love letter to Denver’s palate and penchant for real, whole, healthful foods. Lydia, a Cherry Creek legend who turned Clayton into the neighborhood’s chicest hotspot, brings that same electric energy to Good Eaters. Her vision? To make sustainable dining as irresistible as a perfectly plated dish. Good Eaters is all about real food—local, organic, and bursting with flavor. Think pop-up dinners that feel like a party, meal kits that don’t skimp on soul, and workshops that get you cozy with Colorado’s farmers. Lydia’s not here for fussy or preachy; she’s curating experiences that are as inclusive as they are delicious, whether you’re vegan, gluten-free, or just hungry for something good. It’s food that hits the mark, with a side of zero waste.

This is Howerton’s rebellion against the processed, the bland, the disconnected. She’s betting Cherry Creek’s ready to slow down, savor, and dig into meals that feed more than just your stomach. From farm tours to plates that tell a story, Good Eaters is her call to eat smarter, live greener, and maybe sneak in a little fun while we’re at it. Trust us, you’ll want a seat at this table.

Tucked into the quirky charm of the Barn at Castle Rock, the newly opened Old Soul is a grandmillennial’s dream come true—a boutique that’s equal parts time machine and treasure chest. The brainchild of Jenna Starko, the shop is a refined, highly curated edit of the Southern belle-turned-Coloradan’s most covetable finds. Starko, whose love for bows, brass, and chinoiserie runs deeper than a mint julep, found her passion for the past while transforming her mid-century modern home into a wonderland of vintage gems. Inspired by her experience, Old Soul isn’t your grandma’s dusty antique shop—it’s a curated love letter to the rare and ravishing, handpicked from estate sales, auctions, and secret nooks across the country. Picture ginger jars winking at cheeky needlepoint pillows, brass candlesticks flirting with antique armchairs, all with a modern twist that feels like a warm hug from your fashionable aunt. showroom JESS KNAUF DESIGN

Let’s talk about your fab new space! It’s absolutely darling. And I hear there’s a sentimental tie to it as well? Elaborate…Oh my gosh, yes! We had been looking for the perfect space forever, and when we happened upon this ideal little spot in Cherry Creek, my dear friend and now work neighbor, Alex Nielsen (who owns the fabulous Artisan Center next door), reminded me that this is actually where I had my first date with my now husband! It had formerly been a custom frame shop, and when he heard I was a decorator, he swindled some design time before going to dinner.

Your designs dance between bold and timeless. If you could bottle the “Jess Knauf” vibe into a single cocktail, what would it be and why? A Gin Gimlet- classic, chic, balanced, floral, quirky and poured into a charming glass.

Growing up in Pasadena and soaking up Laguna Beach summers, how do your childhood memories inspire you when you’re dreaming up a new space? I am deeply sentimental, and I think how I grew up is a reflection of that. Pasadena is a beauti-

ful city, that holds design and architecture in high regard. Growing up in such a sophisticated community taught me that you can live amongst gorgeous things. Your home shouldn’t be a museum, it should be lived in. I am passionate about helping people make their homes a reflection of the multifaceted lives they live. Laguna is a heaven for artists and surfers, such a cool mix of so many things unique to California. My grandmother was raised on Main Beach, and her aesthetic definitely adhered to casual living, and color, and has informed by fearlessness for color and patten mixing, which you often find in the most playful, old school beach houses.

If you could teleport into any design era— say, the Roaring ‘20s or the groovy ‘70s—what’s your pick, and how would you remix it for today’s Denver? I am in a Gatsby mindset right now. Maybe it’s because my kids are exiting the baby phase, and I feel like I can entertain again. I want grand dinner parties, living rooms that can accommodate a crowd, and lots of time making memories at home. Denver has been very focused on open concepts, and I am more of a fan of separate rooms. I don’t want anyone seeing my kitchen post party, I want it hidden away so the fun never endsout of sight, out of mind!

Your love for pink rooms is infectious! What’s another color or quirky element you’re obsessed with right now, and how are you sneaking it into projects? Animal print never goes out of style! From Virginia Kraft’s updated Bagha tiger print, to a fab stair runner, I think animal print should be in every home.

Imagine your dream design collab—dead or alive, any creative mind. Who’s your partner, and what wild project would you tackle together? I just got back from the Ojai Valley Inn, so I will say Wallace Neff, my most favorite 1920’s architect, who most perfectly personified “California Style”. While Neff was CA based, I think a mountain retreat would have most certainly been a welcome challenge for him, one where we could bring our keen eye for interesting textiles to balance his exceptional rooms.

Denver’s design scene has its own pulse. What’s a local spot or hidden gem that inspires your work, and how does it sneak into your designs? This is probably a little out there, but my favorite bar from my youth, The Thin Man, has the most unique design perspective that really transports. I don’t like spaces that look cookie cutter, or everything else you see, and their perspective is one of a kind- a little New Orleans, a little Voodoo, and a delicious cocktail. What could be better?

Denver has been very focused on open concepts, and I am more of a fan of separate rooms. I don’t want anyone seeing my kitchen post party, I want it hidden away so the fun never ends- out of sight, out of mind!”

You’re a master at mixing high and low-end pieces. What’s a budget find you’re loving right now that looks like a million bucks? Absolutely! I love a cheap and cheerful moment. I pride myself on being prudent with client’s investments, and welcome anywhere we can save without sacrificing quality. Etsy has been a fun resource for me for sourcing inexpensive fabrics. They are often not sturdy enough for upholstery, but great for a laundry room café curtain or shades in a child’s bedroom.

As a kid, you were rearranging furniture at sleepovers. What’s a design rule you’d tell your younger self to break with abandon? All of them! I really think most rules are meant to be broken, and when it comes down to it, you can do whatever the heck you want in your home if it makes you happy. Don’t let anyone (even me) tell you what your home should look like.

If Jess Knauf Design had a theme song that played every time you unveiled a project, what would it be?

“Are you Having Any Fun?” by Elaine Stritch.

Your portfolio radiates fun, from campy chic to timeless elegance. What’s a design trend you’re secretly hoping makes a comeback? I am pretty casual, but I could do with a smidge more approachable formality. The sweatpant lifestyle of Covid times sort of converted to interiors, and I want to get myself and my rooms dressed up every once in a while!

For a quick dose of your style, what’s one “quintessentially Jess” decor swap you’d suggest to a homeowner to zhuzh up their space? Swap out your lighting and dim the bulbs! Even if you are in a rental, you can swap out fixtures with something affordable (again, Etsy is incredible) and swap for a low voltage soft white bulb. People are happier in rooms they can’t see their wrinkles in. Bright white bulbs are my enemy.

What’s the most exciting adventure on the horizon for Jess Knauf Design? We have some beyond gorgeous renovations coming to fruition as we speak, which we will photograph soon. It is such a pleasure to see all of our hard work come to reality, and our lovely clients and their families enjoying these incredible spaces!

to bring you the world’s finest linens.

A DESIGNER’S OWN COLUMBINE VALLEY

HOME BLENDS MINIMALIST ELEGANCE WITH PLAYFUL, FASHIONABLE FAMILY LIVING

In the tranquil expanse of Columbine Valley, interior designer and fashion stylist Natalie Kakaty has crafted a modern haven that marries minimalist elegance with the spirit of family life. Kakaty, whose career in fashion styling saw her shaping campaigns and editorials for industry titans such as Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, and Vogue, honed her ability to craft compelling visual narratives while living and working in New York City. This rigorous foundation in fashion, rooted in texture, proportion, and storytelling, became the cornerstone of her eponymous firm, Natalie Kakaty: Interiors –Fashion. After many years on the east coast, a career opportunity prompted Kakaty and her family to relocate to Colorado, where they settled into a newly constructed residence in Littleton. With two precocious young daughters, the couple sought a space that balanced their minimalist aesthetic with the practical and playful needs of raising children, a vision Kakaty executed with precision.

Kakaty’s design philosophy, deeply informed by her fashion background, views interiors as a form of storytelling, where every element—from a tailored seam to a custom light fixture—elevates the narrative. “Fashion and interiors both demand an eye for proportion and texture,” she explains. “They’re about creating something that feels personal yet timeless.” The designer’s experience working under the pressure of tight deadlines for elite clients, taught her the power of intentional details, a principle that guided the 13-month transformation of a Littleton new build into a bespoke sanctuary. The homeowners’ aesthetic, rooted in neutral tones and modern simplicity, provided the foundation, but Kakaty infused it with warmth and individuality, ensuring the space would endure as a long-term home for her family, including their spirited young girls. Her transition from fashion to interiors, sparked by a desire to apply her styling expertise to spatial design, allowed the designer to craft a residence that feels both current and timeless, a testament to her ability to adapt her creative instincts across disciplines.

The residence is a study in modern minimalism, with Kakaty’s favored materials—wood, marble, stone, and velvet— creating a polished yet inviting atmosphere. Custom lighting, including a grand, sculptural chandelier in the staircase and understated sconces throughout, casts a soft, ambient glow that enhances the home’s serene ambiance. Floorto-ceiling custom sheer drapery, selected for its gossamer weave, softens the clean architectural lines. The living room,

a standout space, features built-in shelves crafted from a honey-hued wood, their surfaces adorned with curated objects that blend function with artistry: hand-thrown ceramic vases, rare art and fashion books, and a unique sculpture sourced from a small gallery. The dining room, equally refined, is a stage for both intimate family meals and grand gatherings, its bespoke walnut table paired with chairs upholstered in crisp white linen, their gold hardware and sleek legs echoing Kakaty’s fashion-trained eye for detail.

The primary suite offers a serene retreat, its sumptuous textures—an upholstered headboard in soft cream bouclé, rare hand-painted throw pillows, and a travertine accent wall—enveloping the space in quiet luxury. The main-level guest suite, designed for visiting family, reflects a precise vision. Kakaty kept the space minimalist, focusing on a unique bedding design to make a statement: custom draping cascades dramatically, paired with a line of corduroy round throw pillows that draw the eye, alongside vintage black stone table lamps. This intentional departure from conventional bedding, with its emphasis on texture and form, ensures the room feels both simple and striking. The powder bath, with its tiled wall in a herringbone pattern of hand-cut marble, feels like a jewel box, its bold yet harmonious design showcasing Kakaty’s ability to balance statement-making elements with cohesion. Each room reflects her meticulous attention to detail, with every material, finish, and textile chosen to contribute to a unified, elevated aesthetic that feels both sophisticated and livable.

“Every room in this home tells a story, but the children’s spaces are where joy takes center stage.”

Yet it is the children’s spaces that truly capture the home’s youthful heart. Designed for Kakaty’s daughters, Olivia and Noella, the bedrooms are modern yet playful, crafted to evolve with the girls from toddlerhood into young adulthood. Kakaty’s design process begins with wallpaper, a critical choice she believes sets the tone for a unique, standout space. For Olivia’s room, a floral watercolor in yellow and green evokes a serene, natural elegance; for Noella’s, a dramatic yet subtle geometric print boasts all shades of rose pink and metallic tones. Both patterns, originally selected for the family’s Connecticut home, were so beloved that Kakaty repeated them in Colorado, a testament to their timeless appeal.

These spaces eschew fleeting childish motifs, embracing sophisticated furnishings like rod iron bedframes that promise longevity. The playroom, a vibrant counterpoint, blends bold colors—bright accent pillows, a sleek rug—with chic black-and-white touches, its modern, kid-friendly artwork, including abstract prints by emerging artists, adding youthful exuberance. This room, like the bedrooms, integrates seamlessly with the home’s overarching style, ensuring the children’s playful personality coexists with the refined modern haven of the adults.

“The goal was to create spaces that feel cohesive yet allow the girls’ individuality to shine,” Kakaty says. “Every room in this home tells a story, but the children’s spaces are where joy takes center stage.”

Remarkably, Kakaty faced no significant hurdles during the project, her clarity of vision driving a seamless process. “I knew exactly what this home could become,” she asserts, a confidence honed by her fashion background, where rapid decision-making for high-profile clients demanded precision and adaptability. Her ability to source unique pieces—each chosen with the discernment of a couturier—lends the residence a distinctive character. The powder bath’s statement tile wall, the custom lighting throughout, and the thoughtful curation of the living room shelves exemplify her meticulous attention to detail, ensuring every element feels deliberate and memorable.

The home’s architecture serves as a canvas for Kakaty’s artistry, allowing her curated furnishings and thoughtful details to shine. For the family, this residence is more than a house—it’s a reflection of their new chapter in Denver, a space where their daughters’ laughter mingles with the quiet elegance of modern design.

Kakaty’s masterpiece is a testament to her belief that true style is intentional, blending craftsmanship with the needs of those who inhabit the space. Here, every detail is a stitch in the fabric of a life well-lived, a home where sophistication and playfulness coexist in perfect harmony.

“Fashion and interiors both demand an eye for proportion and texture. They’re about creating something that feels personal yet timeless.”

A BRUNCH TO REMEMBER: CELEBRATING FRIENDSHIP IN STYLE

s the editor of Cherry Creek Magazine , I’ve always found joy in the art of entertaining. It’s a passion inherited from my mother, the consummate hostess, who taught me that a home filled with happy people is life’s greatest luxury. For me, every detail in my home— from the perfect shade of blue grasscloth on the walls to the gleam of brass accents— is a brushstroke in a larger canvas of hospitality. So, when the winter doldrums loomed and the promise of spring beckoned, I seized the opportunity to host a brunch in our new home, itself a cherished family heirloom passed down from my parents. Tucked in the serene foothills, yet close to the city’s pulse, this house is where my family’s memories have been woven for over three decades. Now, with touches of coastal charm and traditional elegance, it’s the backdrop for a new generation of gatherings.

This brunch, timed fortuitously the day after International Women’s Day and doubling as my birthday celebration, was a tribute to the women who light up my life. It was also a tender homage to a dear friend, whom we lost just months earlier. Her absence left an ache, compounded by the cruel irony that she passed on the day I was to host her own birthday luncheon. This gathering, in many ways, was a love letter to her— a way to channel grief into beauty and to transform unfulfilled plans into moments of connection.

Planning this event was a cathartic escape. I partnered with my longtime friend Bria Valdez of Bria Blair Creative, Denver’s darling of luxurious party design. Together, we envisioned a space brimming with feminine charm, anchored by my signature blue-and-white palette, accented with soft greens, block prints, and oversized bows. The aesthetic felt like an extension of my home— and, I like to think, a nod to my friend’s indelible beauty and unmistakable charm.

The invitation, custom-designed with a hand-lettered fishtail font and bow motif, set the tone for a day of thoughtful details. As guests arrived, they were greeted with personalized light-blue champagne flutes, each etched with their name— a chic favor that doubled as a social icebreaker. To add a playful touch, I created a “bow bar,” where silk hairbows in the party’s colors were displayed against block-print wallpaper, crowned by a grand fabric bow. It was a festive flourish that sparked smiles and made for stunning photos.

The décor was equal parts elegant and inviting. A boxwood wall, adorned with a structured blue-and-white gingham bow, served as a photo backdrop, while a lush wall of white silk

garden roses, accented by a floppy blue floral bow, elevated the bar area. My dear friend Erica brought her floral artistry to life with a custom arch of hydrangeas, roses, delphinium, and delicate chamomile— flowers that felt feminine and timeless. Erica also helped craft a bouquet bar, where guests could arrange their own take-home bouquets from vases overflowing with ranunculus, hyacinth, and more. It was both an activity and a memento, a way to extend the day’s beauty.

The bar, masterminded by Derek Ott of Derivative Mixology, was a highlight. Derek’s craft cocktails were as enchanting as they were delicious. “Spring is in the Air,” a martini-style sip, married peach-infused vodka with a lemongrass-scented air, finished with a smoky bubble that delighted the senses. “Flower Power” brought green tea-infused gin and honeydew sweetness, topped with Prosecco for sparkle. For a non-alcoholic option, “Health & Harmony” offered a vibrant blend of Seedlip, mint, and seltzer. Each drink was a work of art, served with a flair that matched the day’s elegance.

Personalization was the heartbeat of this gathering. My friend Morgan Walton, a monogram virtuoso, added custom embroidery to everything from server aprons to the hand towels in the powder room. Each guest received a monogrammed tote, their initials rendered in the same font as the invitations, perfect for carrying bouquets and other favors. Even my young sons sported monogrammed blue oxford shirts for their photo op with me— a sweet moment of family amidst the festivities.

The food, crafted by Skye Braxel of Braxie Bites, was a feast for the eyes and palate. Skye’s grazing boards elevated the brunch concept with colorful, bite-sized offerings: traditional crudité and charcuterie, a brunch board with waffles and syrups, and a dessert board bursting with treats. My friend Amy’s hand-decorated sugar cookies— featuring boxwood topiaries, monograms, and bows— were almost too beautiful to eat, but too delicious to resist.

This brunch was more than a party; it was a celebration of friendship, resilience, and the power of beauty to heal. As I watched my guests laugh, sip, and arrange flowers, I felt warmth and pure joy. Our home, steeped in family history and now infused with new memories, proved the perfect stage for this moment.

Here’s to more gatherings, more beauty, more celebrations, and, most importantly, more joy.

for MEMORABLE ENTERTAINING

Choose a cohesive palette: Select a color scheme that naturally integrates into your home’s aesthetic, enhancing what’s already there. For my brunch, blues, whites, and greens echoed my home’s coastal charm, making the décor feel like an elevated extension of the space.

Welcome guests with a drink: Set the tone by offering a signature cocktail or glass of champagne as guests arrive. This thoughtful gesture helps everyone relax and signals that the day will be fun. Our personalized champagne flutes were a hit, doubling as favors and conversation starters.

Make a statement with florals: Large-scale floral installations, like a flower wall or lush backdrop, deliver instant impact and serve as a stunning photo op. Customize them with bows, greenery, or neon signs to match your theme. Our silk rose wall and floral arch were unforgettable anchors for the event.

Embrace small DIY moments: You don’t need to be a crafting expert to add personal touches. Arranging flowers with a friend, as I did with Erica over a bottle of wine, can be a joyful pre-party ritual. It’s a chance to bond, create something beautiful, and build traditions that make hosting special.

Add wearable favors: A favor guests can wear, like hairbows, tiaras, or feather boas, instantly elevates the festive mood and makes for great photos. Our “bow bar” was a playful hit, encouraging guests to embrace the theme and connect with one another.

Personalize with monograms: Monogrammed touches show guests they were thoughtfully considered. From glassware to totes or even dinner napkins that double as place cards, personalized favors add meaning. Our monogrammed totes were both functional and sentimental, used long after the party ended.

Simplify the menu: Opt for bite-sized, visually appealing food that doesn’t require formal seating. Grazing boards, like Skye’s colorful crudité, charcuterie, and brunch boards, feel elevated yet approachable, keeping the focus on connection rather than logistics.

Create a photo-worthy moment: Ensure your décor includes at least one Instagram-worthy element, like a floral wall or a beautifully set table. These details not only elevate the aesthetic but also give guests a way to capture and share the memory. Our boxwood wall with its gingham bow was a guest favorite.

parting WORDS

May you celebrate each moment, no matter how small.

May you dance on the table and dine on the dance floor.

May you remember that style cannot be bought.

May you embrace tradition and make every day lovely.

And may you always have the courage to live the life you love.
