Welcome to Big Fish Bay Ahh . . . take in that ocean breeze! Here’s a spot on the pier and an extra fishing pole. Almost feels like we’re on board that tall ship, doesn’t it? What a great day for us to take a sailboat into the bay. We’re bound to see a whale jumping or otters playing. Everything God made in Big Fish Bay is amazing, but that rocky point of land with the lighthouse reminds me of God’s mercy. Many ships were doomed to sink in the storms out there in the ocean, but that lighthouse warned the sailors to safety. Overview God wanted His prophet Jonah to warn the people of Nineveh, but Jonah sailed the other way. Then God sent a fierce storm that almost sank Jonah’s ship—and Jonah was thrown into the sea! Even so, God showed compassion to Jonah by sending a big fish to rescue him. At last Jonah brought God’s message to Nineveh. But when Nineveh repented, Jonah still had to learn about God’s compassionate heart for people.

Jonah failed to show mercy, like we sometimes do. But the Lord Jesus showed compassion in the best way: He died and rose to life again so that now everyone can receive God’s mercy. Not only will students see God’s mercy at Big Fish Bay, but they will also learn to share it with others.

Every day, churches around the world show God’s mercy and love by providing funds for the orphanages that care for these orphans. When you give to Operation Safe Harbor, you are also helping these orphans and saying “Jesus loves you!” in a way that counts.

Feeling safe . . . feeling loved . . . these are priceless! But many children around the world are not safe and do not have anyone to love them. Disease and war and crime have caused the deaths of many parents in Myanmar, India, Haiti, Uganda, and Bangladesh and have left many children as orphans. The only hope for these children is the orphanages that take them in and provide for their needs.

• An offering of $40 will cover a school uniform and the first month of school for an orphan.

• An offering of $50 will provide an orphan with food for a month.

• An offering of $70 will give two orphans a bunk bed so they don’t have to sleep on the floor.

• An offering of $200 will provide an orphanage with a set of cookware to prepare food for the children.

By giving to Operation Safe Harbor, you will have an important part in showing God’s mercy to needy children and in helping them learn about Jesus!
