Your heart pounds. Your palms sweat. You’ve done nothing wrong, but you still feel guilty. Like a criminal. We’ve all felt it, as we approach Border Control, even if we ’ re … “legal”? Haven’t we? Or is it just me? And people who look like me?

In this post-Brexit age of ‘No Small Boats’ and heightened xenophobia, entering the country triggers one man ’ s reflections on his journey to a new country and the privileges that he was able utilize along the way.

Running Time:

Yet these privileges only exist because of his parents’ much more difficult immigration journey, and our hero contemplates why anyone leaves one home to create another, and what it takes to survive and thrive in a new world

He spends most of his days desperately trying to recreate his old routines but is never able to capture the magic of his younger self due to his struggle with arthritis. This desperation drives him to reach out to an ex-lover who runs the local drag scene, while also forcing himself to go on hookups as a distraction. How do you show and receive love as a Black man, especially a Black, openly gay roadman, when you have no guide?

Aidyn and Kairo are perfect together; they figured it out and have something strong that works for them. But one night after a party, the strength of their love is put to the ultimate test, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy and changing their relationship forever.

A queer, romantic multiverse drama about first love and jealousy Ashley Byam explores the complexities of Black masculinity, the queer experience and what it means to have the perfect relationship. As the story unfolds and challenges arise, the play asks – what aspects of ourselves are we prepared to sacrifice to pursue the picture-perfect “ romcom ” ending?
