On Friday, July 4, the City of Rising Sun will light up the night sky with fireworks on the river. The traditional event is being moved from the park to the river and it’s more than just a brilliant aerial display. You’ll want to come early. The party starts at 7 p.m on Front Street with music and food. Chuck Brisbin and The Tuna Project along with Deja Blue will pound out toe-tappin’ tunes for nearly three hours. The Rising Sun Lions Club will serve up concessions. So leave the coolers behind and support a great organization that supports your community. There will be plenty of bicentennial merchandise for sale too like caps, bucket hats, polo shirts and travel mugs. A complete list of

merchandise and pricing is available at www. risingsunbicentennial.com. At 10 pm, fireworks will fill up the sky. The launch point will be from the banks near the old boat docks at the foot of First Street. Wherever you sit, you'll want to face the old boat docks. Councilman Dill Dorrell questioned about abatements and was told 99 percent of businesses will ask “what can you give us?” Cooper emphasized that railroad connection is a must. Road improvements were discussed including a decade long discussion of a connector road to bypass Lawrenceburg. If a port would be developed it would be owned by the state. Afterward Dorrell noted that this project could be the most important economic development project ever for Southeastern Indiana. In an e-mail, Dorrell emphasized, “We need cooperation and funding assistance from Dearborn County, their EDC, including Aurora and Lawrenceburg, and the City of
