The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to close State Road 56 at Thuermer Hollow Road in Randolph Township of Ohio County during overnight hours on Monday, July 21, to facilitate a traffic shift in the construction zone. The state’s 14-hour closure is being scheduled between the hours of 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. to minimize inconvenience to motorists along this popular route between Aurora and Rising Sun. In case of inclement weather, the traffic shift would occur Tuesday night, July 22, or postponed to the following Monday or Tuesday night. While S.R. 56 is scheduled to reopen at 9 a.m. after the overnight closure, Thuermer Hollow Road will remain closed until construction of the new alignment has been completed. Tenfoot width restrictions remain in effect on S.R. 56. Trucks with wide loads are being routed around the construction zone via S.R. 129 and U.S. Highway 50. J.R. PG Gentrup, Ohio County Veterans Officer, is making sure today’s veterans (young and old) are not forgotten. He has taken many on honor flights and trips to Washington D.C. over the years. If there is a special event involving veterans (like Memorial Day, Veterans Day and fourth of July), PG is there. PG is in the news a lot for his trips which veterans have shared their experiences. Many people have received purple hearts and other honors because of PG’s efforts.

But when all the pomp and circumstance is over, one person is there... PG Gentrup. It may be, for example, Aug. 14 or Dec. 4, or March 11 when PG is there for veterans needs, from getting rides to the V. A. Hospital, having a ramp built, or making sure they get honors they deserve. PG will be getting an honor well deserved as the Lawrenceburg native is recognized on Tuesday, July 29 as a Hometown Hero at the Cincinnati Reds game as part of Lawrenceburg Community Night. Tickets can be purchased at www.reds.com/lawrenceburg, passcode is PGGENT.
