Red Wolf goes gray with three new pups
the three pure gray wolf puppies who arrived at the Red Wolf Sanctuary Sunday, May 4. Two are females, one is male. Two are brown and were born April 9; they BY CHANDRA L. Visits to the pups are limited until they’ve been immunized against parvo, distemper and other canine diseases, but soon folks will have a chance to have their photo taken with the wolf puppies for a fee. Bluegrass favorite Rural Route 2 will headline the City of Rising Sun’s 200th Birthday Party on May 30 at the Rising Sun History Museum from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The group was formed in the late 80’s and has been performing around the Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky tristate area ever since. They play traditional songs from the masters of the early days of Bluegrass to the newer sounds of today as well as songs from other genres such as Rock, Folk and Country with a Bluegrass “twist”. Rural Route 2 is known for solid musicianship, tight harmony singing and a “rehearsed” sound with good song selections. The band has recorded three CD’s over the years but really take pride in having a good

live show and giving people their money’s worth. They have played shows with Bill Monroe, J.D. Crowe, Ralph Stanley, The Osborne Brothers, Larry Sparks and many others. The band members are all good friends and love playing music together. In addition to the great music. free cake and ice cream will be served, and the Rising Sun Rotary Club will be serving a smoked pork chop dinner for $8. Dinner tickets are available in advance from any Rotary member and at the Ohio County Visitors’ Center on the corner of Main and Walnut Streets.
