The Regis
Reflector School of Physical Therapy Newsletter
Summer 2018 Volume 1, Number 1 Dean’s message: Welcome to the inaugural Regis Reflects newsletter from the Regis University School of Physical Therapy! Special thanks to Dr. Ira Gorman and Ms. Gemma Hoeppner for their hard work in the design, authoring, and editing of this issue. Our plan is to provide two newsletters each year for the alumni, clinical educators, and friends of our school. We are doing so to keep in better touch with you, and to keep you informed of the happenings within the school and each of its four programs – the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, the Health & Exercise Science undergraduate program, the Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy, and the Regis cohort of the Creighton University Occupational Therapy Doctorate program. As I complete my third year as the school dean, I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with our amazing and committed faculty and staff. I am particularly proud of the hard work of the faculty and staff in creating a future vision of the school. At our school retreat last winter, we developed a new school vision: Our collaborative programs will cultivate individuals who champion optimal health throughout the world by igniting ingenuity in education, scholarship, and sustainable community partnerships. To realize this vision, it truly takes a village, and that village includes our school faculty, staff, students, alumni; the university administration; and the clinical sites across Colorado and the United States that provide clinical experiences for our students. Whether providing clinical support and education in Peru, serving the unsheltered population at Father Woody’s, offering health fairs in Alamosa, or engaging in community based research in rural Colorado, our school focus is on learners becoming leaders and championing optimal health in our world. Enjoy the stories and pictures in this issue, and we would love to hear from you about personal or professional accomplishments for a future issue! Live the magis! Mark F.
