Where Excellence Meets Purpose

YOUR GENEROSITY IS CHANGING LIVES

The scholarships I received helped shape my life and career trajectory by reducing financial barriers and empowering me to pursue my dreams.

ADVANCING GOD’S KINGDOM THROUGH FILM

Regent partners empower future filmmakers to impact culture for Christ.

From Navy service member to Kingdom filmmaker—that’s the journey of Armond Brundridge (CAS ’26), a senior in Regent University’s CinemaTelevision (CTV) Program.

“A growing childhood interest in filmmaking, but an uncertain sense of the timing, led me to enlist in the Navy to pay for film school,” Armond explains. Near the end of his four-year, active-duty contract in Norfolk, Virginia, he had an “intimate and sobering encounter with the Kingdom of God through the on-base ministry there.”

“I made a commitment to trust Jesus with my life,” he recalls. “I realized God had used my time in the Navy to bring me into something of a ‘spiritual greenhouse’ for developing a closer relationship with Him. The decision, therefore, to remain in ‘good soil’ by going to Regent University became crystal clear.”

Your investment is preparing Armond to shine the light of Christ through film.

“What’s great about the undergraduate CTV program at Regent University is its holistic approach to learning the craft. By the time graduation year comes around, the vast amount of technical, professional, and spiritual growth will have thoroughly equipped me to become a ‘Kingdom builder’ in the world of media.”

This summer, Armond served as an intern at the Virginia Film Office in Richmond: “Already, I have been on location scouts and on sets with professional film crews. I gained valuable insight into the local and international film industry and contributed to the film office’s mission.”

Armond understands the vital role Regent donors play in his and other students’ success. “Thank you so much for your generous contributions,” he says. “I hope God continues to use your donations to equip the next generation of Jesus imitators for the glory and advancement of His Kingdom to the ends of the Earth!”

When Rev. Yeong-gwang Im left South Korea in 2004 to study at Regent University, he carried a vision from the Lord “to visualize God’s Word.” Thanks to generous and faithful donors like you, he found the perfect training ground at Regent’s School of Divinity and School of Communication & the Arts.

You helped equip Rev. Im with the message and method to reach the nations.

“I had the precious opportunity to study God’s Word and theology— and to learn how to communicate visually,” he remembers. “Through Regent's School of Divinity, I learned the fundamentals of ‘what to say,’ and through the School of Communication & the Arts, I learned ‘how to say it.’”

Today, your investment in this South Korean visionary spans the globe.

EQUIPPING A VISION

How donor generosity helped launch a media missionary to the nations

for all nations’ with a vision of reaching ‘Everywhere, for everyone.’”

Empowered by your partnership, Rev. Im is passing faith to the next generation.

“To the donors who enabled me to take the first step of faith and courage at Regent over 20 years ago, I extend my deepest gratitude and respect.”

“Above all, CGN is fully committed to passing on the legacy of faith to the younger generation,” he adds. He understands that his path to global ministry was made possible, in large part, by the generosity of Regent donors: “Studying abroad as an international student is a tremendous challenge. However, what truly gave me the courage to boldly take on that challenge was the scholarship and financial aid I received. Without this assistance, I wouldn’t have even dared to start my studies.”

Rev. Yeong-gwang Im

As Head Director of Platform & Content Production for Christian Global Network (CGN), a 24-hour, missiondriven media organization in South Korea, he leads a team of 90 staff members, producing Christian broadcasts and digital-media services that reach 170 countries in seven languages.

“My division covers all of CGN’s platforms and content,” he explains. “Its core mission is to be ‘The gospel channel

To Regent donors, he offers heartfelt thanks: “Their support acts as a crucial ‘first step,’ empowering students to boldly pursue God’s calling in faith. This initial step is incomparably vital, as it marks the very beginning of fulfilling a vision.”

Today, Rev. Im remains grateful: “To the donors who enabled me to take the first step of faith and courage at Regent over 20 years ago, I extend my deepest gratitude and respect.”

WHERE EXCELLENCE MEETS PURPOSE

How your support is fueling a top-20 film program to train tomorrow’s Christian storytellers.

In a darkened editing suite on Regent University’s Virginia Beach campus, light glows from a computer screen as students fine-tune the production of a feature-length documentary. Down the hall, others set up lights for a film shoot on a professional soundstage. The energy is palpable—and purposeful.

Excellence that Starts with your support

soundstages, and cutting-edge editing suites where students master their craft.

This is the new face of the School of Communication & the Arts (SCA), now ranked as a top-20 film and media program in the nation by the Broadcast Education Association. Regent is training the next generation of filmmakers and content creators, who are gaining national attention, international accolades, and—most importantly—preparing to change the world for God’s glory through excellence in media and storytelling.

“Thank you for helping SCA strengthen and maintain our commitment to academic excellence and spiritual development.”

Dr. Simon Tarr, Dean, Honors College Dean, School of Communication & the Arts

“We’ve won more than 800 national and international student film awards,” says Dr. Simon Tarr, dean of SCA. This excellence is made possible through donor support that provides state-of-the-art equipment, professional

“In addition, we have a new feature-length motion picture, Beyond Escape, that’s in production right now.” The film tells the harrowing, true story of four human trafficking survivors.

“It’s produced and directed by Regent faculty,” Tarr adds, “and Regent film students are serving in key crew roles as part of our newly redesigned film and television degree programs.”

Those efforts—coupled with the launch of the Regent Film Institute—mark a bold new era for Christian storytelling at the university. Feature films are no longer simply class projects; they’re real-world productions where students learn under seasoned professionals as part of their degree.

Attracting Hollywood experience to Regent

“We want to provide opportunities for our students to get practical, hands-on experience,” Film and Media Arts

Department Chair Alex Buffalo shares. “Filmmaking is more than just theory. It’s a craft—and God calls us to a standard of excellence in our craft.”

Buffalo, an award-winning producer, director, and videographer, understands both the power and responsibility of Christian media. A former atheist, he came to Regent after decades in secular media and education. Donor generosity enables SCA to attract accomplished professionals, like Buffalo, whose industry experience and faith-centered approach provide students with expertise and mentorship they can’t find in textbooks.

“We teach students who God has called here. It’s all in His providence. We’re here to shepherd them, train them, and lift them up,” Buffalo explains. “I tell students, ‘Practice makes permanent. You’ll never be perfect—only Christ is perfect—but you can make something good that glorifies God, as long as your heart is in the right place.’”

Where your gifts come to life: professional studios

Under Tarr’s leadership, SCA has adopted a deeper focus on storytelling that reflects biblical truth and cultural relevance. The school’s curriculum emphasizes not only film technique but also beauty, craftsmanship and biblical truth. The professional-grade studios and equipment that make this firsthand learning possible exist because of faithful supporters who believe in training Christian media professionals.

That new direction is bearing fruit, as SCA students continue winning film and media awards. Those achievements help cement Regent University’s

reputation in the industry and show that students are achieving at a high level.

“By the time they’re juniors and seniors, our students have options as filmmakers,” Buffalo adds. “Students can decide if they want to focus on cinematography, directing, producing, lighting, or visual effects. They can choose to create their own films or work on Regent Film Institute projects.”

From classroom to career: your impact continues

Regent graduates are finding meaningful work in film, television, journalism, and digital media across the country and around the world. But, Buffalo contends, other long-term fruit matters more than winning awards:

“Ten years down the road, if they’re waking up, going to a job, glorifying God in their work, providing for their family, being a member of a good church, that’s where our success is.”

The legacy you’re building through media

From the cameras students use to the soundstages where they create, every aspect of this program reflects

donor investment in Kingdom-focused storytelling. None of SCA’s outstanding accomplishments and growth would be possible without the generous support of Regent donors.

Your prayers and financial gifts help equip the next generation of Christian artists, writers, producers, and directors to serve others as leaders uniquely prepared to enter the marketplace with integrity and purpose.

In an entertainment industry that threatens to grow ever darker, Regent University is raising up bright lights to share the redemptive story of Jesus Christ with clarity, conviction, and creativity. The people who support Regent—financially and prayerfully—are a huge part of fulfilling SCA’s mission to teach students to glorify God through their gifts.

“There’s a ‘well done, my good and faithful servant’ thankfulness (Matthew 25) to every single one of the donors who have given—and the donors who will give,” Buffalo insists. “Thank you for giving to a school that focuses on glorifying Him.”

“Regent’s motto is ‘Christian Leadership to Change the World,’” Tarr says. “Our students’ integrity, excellence, and service are desperately needed around the globe. Thank you for helping SCA strengthen and maintain our commitment to academic excellence and spiritual development.”

God’s story continues to be told through Regent University’s School of Communication and the Arts. Thanks to faithful donors, like you, the best is yet to come

SHARING STORIES OF REDEMPTION

Regent partners helped this alum launch a career to inspire and uplift audiences.

Award-winning screenwriter, producer, and now children’s author Cheryl McKay (SCA ’95) has spent her career creating and sharing redemptive stories that inspire and uplift. Cheryl built the foundation for her success at Regent University’s School of Communication and the Arts.

To the donors who made her journey possible, she says, “Today, it’s more important than ever to raise up leaders with a Christian point of view, who are going to get the messages out there, whether it’s through media, news, or filmmaking.”

“Every book highlights a different part of self-esteem to show we’re perfectly and wonderfully created by God.”

Behind her impressive career is a deep gratitude for the generous donor support that made her Regent degree possible: “Scholarships are vital for people to be able to afford the kind of education that equips us to go out and change the world.”

“Today, it’s more important than ever to raise up leaders with a Christian point of view, who are going to get the messages out there, whether it’s through media, news, or filmmaking.”

Cheryl McKay (SCA ’95)

Your investment in Cheryl is now bringing biblical truth to mainstream media.

As Chief Creative Officer of Stone Impact Media, she’s the artistic force behind the award-winning, family-drama series These Stones—now available on UP Faith & Family, Redeem TV, and Amazon. “It’s like a modernized Touched by an Angel,” she explains. “But it features Bible characters who enter present day to help people through crises.”

Cheryl’s impressive Hollywood screenwriting credits include The Ultimate Gift (starring the late James Garner and Brian Dennehy), Indivisible, and Extraordinary. She also co-authored the Carol Award-winning novel Never the Bride, which she adapted into a screenplay franchise.

Thanks to the support of friends like you, God is using Cheryl to plant seeds of faith in young hearts.

Her latest venture, Potter Knows Best, is a faith-based children’s book series. “The heart of the whole series is how God makes us into who we’re supposed to be,” she shares.

Your gifts allowed Cheryl to graduate nearly debt-free and move to Los Angeles to launch her career.

“Had I not had those scholarships, it would’ve been so much longer before I could have worked on breaking into the industry.”

From Episode 102 of These Stones, filming at Circle

Friends, a cafe that employs adults with developmental disabilities.

But Cheryl envisions even greater kingdom impact ahead. She wants your help to see the university equip even more students who will transform culture for God’s glory:

“We need to have the right voices out there because there's a lot of noise in the media right now,” she insists. “We need to raise up the next generation.”

Being Light in Dark Places

The importance of shaping hearts and culture from a biblical perspective.

Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden” (NKJV). In those words, believers find both identity and calling. You and I are not merely to carry the light of Christ in our hearts (John 8:12); we are to be light in a world that desperately needs it.

Today, that charge has never been more critical. In Isaiah 42:6, we’re told the Lord calls us to righteousness, so we can be a light to the unsaved. But we live in a time when darkness dominates airwaves, streaming platforms, social media, and other areas of influence.

His people. We must step boldly into the spaces where culture and hearts are shaped.

At Regent University, we believe God has called us to a specific mission: to equip servant leaders who will create and shape media from a biblical worldview—not merely consume it. We are preparing students to be Kingdom influencers—journalists who report truth, screenwriters who craft redemptive stories, broadcasters who proclaim hope, and artists who point hearts toward Christ.

“You are the light of the world.”
Matthew 5:14 (NKJV)

Voices that distort truth, glorify despair, and blur moral boundaries have found vast audiences. Entertainment that once uplifted now often tears down. Even children’s programming subtly reshapes how the next generation understands identity, purpose, and truth itself.

This is not a time for the Church to retreat or remain silent. Just as a city on a hill cannot be hidden, neither can

Regent University takes Christ’s command to be light in dark places seriously. We refuse to hide our light under a basket (Mark 4:21). Through the School of Communication & the Arts, we’re shining it boldly in newsrooms, film stages, television studios, theaters, classrooms, and other media venues worldwide.

Will you join us in raising up the next generation of Kingdom influencers? The darkness is real, but John reminds us, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5, ESV). Our mission continues with urgency, and His light will prevail.
