EARLY ERA OF TAGS The Alliance were one of the most dominant tag teams in the early days of RPW. With a then record setting reign of 63 days after taking the titles off YerrDutch, they took the tag team division to an entirely new level having four defends (most by any tag) before finally dropping the titles to Gigantically Big at Beach Bash. The Alliance would eventually become Uprising which has now merged with The CURE to become Cured & Rising.
In this issue Let's dive into the tag team division history of RPW and where it has led to today. Take a look back at some of our older champions, rivalries and matches throughout history in appreciation of how far the tag team championships have come in the modern era of RPW.
Explore Our Former Tag Teams
Tag Team Growth RPW has seen many superstars team up to form a tag team in our first year. Some notable names include The Alliance, Yerrdutch, CrayZippy, The O's, The Originals and many many more. The tag team division isn't for everyone though, as a lot of these teams that form never actually hold the gold. CrayZippy and The O's for example are two tag teams that formed VERY early on in RPW and failed to acquire the titles, however CrayZippy are now #1 contenders on Friday's so maybe their run is finally here!
Tag Teams can form under weird and wonderful circumstances, sometimes superstars need someone in their corner, other times stables can merge together and form an unlikely partnership. Tag teams come and go in RPW but only the strong stick together through thick and thin. The tag team championships have come a long way, to the point where they are now a Main Event title held with extreme pride and prestige by all who have reached the peak.
