The Master of Arts in Law is a 30-credithour program that equips professionals to navigate the increasingly pervasive law and regulations affecting business, government, policy and various other fields. With a comprehensive post-graduate degree in law from a nationally recognized university, students will be well-qualified to apply legal expertise in their unique roles in business, administration, law enforcement, human resources, and other professional settings. What are the Program Benefits? Regent’s M.A. in Law meets the need for legal studies with less time and expense than the J.D. Engineered for professionals who do not desire to practice as an attorney, the M.A. can be completed full- or part-time, on campus or online, in one to three years. This program is ideal for professionals who desire an advanced credential, and therefore a competitive advantage, for career opportunities including employment or promotion in a government position in homeland security or criminal justice; a private for-profit company or nonprofit agency; a human resources department in government or the private sector, and various other professional settings. Why Do I Need a Master’s in Law Degree? According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, occupations typically requiring postsecondary education are projected to grow exponentially during the 2010-20 decade. Occupations classified as requiring a master’s degree are projected to grow at a rate of 21.7 percent, followed by doctoral or professional degree occupations at 19.9 percent (Figure 1).
