02. VISITOR’S CENTER

Project Duration: 2 weeks

Assigned to develop a quick, conceptual design for a visitor’s center in New Orleans, LA that represents the city’s resilience throughout the years. New Orleans is a city full of life and spirit. The goal of this space is to represent the city’s spirit through various design elements, and give a preview to what visitors will see when they step out onto the streets of New Orleans. The concept of spirit is seen through warm, natural, energizing, and guiding elements. Dim, flickering lighting contributes to the warmth of the space, and creates an environment similar to walking through the streets of the French Quarter in the evening. Displays are lifted off the ground to give a floating appearance, like the houses that are in the French Quarter. There’s also iron detailing and hanging plants above the displays, mimicing the balconies in the French Quarter. These energizing elements add to the concept of spirit, creating the experience of vitality throughout the space.
