GUEST SERVICES Activities If you have any questions regarding the Vail area or any activities available, contact our Concierge or the Front Desk.

Athletic Amenities All children must be 14 years of age or accompanied by an adult to use the amenities. Equipment and key check-out are at the Front Desk.

Exercise Room hours of operation 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Game Room hours of operation 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Racquetball court hours of operation 7:30 a.m. to 10:45 p.m.

Swimming pool and Jacuzzi hours of operation 7:30 a.m. to 10:45 p.m.

Tennis court, volleyball court, pickleball court, 1/2 basketball court, and mini golf (summer only).

Barbecue Grills Gas grills are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are located on the patio by the volleyball court in summer and by the north side of the Clubhouse in winter. Grills must not be moved. No grills of any type are allowed in the unit or on the unit patio or deck.

Bicycles Bicycles are not allowed in the units. Bike racks are located outside the Clubhouse. Inside bike storage is across from the Front Desk. Bike locks are required.

Check-In / Check-Out Check-in time is 4:00 p.m., check-out time is 10:00 a.m. Due to the inability to accept any late check-outs, the Board of Directors has imposed a $75.00 per hour penalty for any parties not vacating their unit after 10:00 a.m. In addition, there is a $75.00 plus one day’s non-owner rental rate penalty for any parties not vacating their unit by 12:00 noon.

GUEST SERVICES DVD Movie Rentals Movies are free. A late fee will be charged if movies are not returned by 5:00 p.m. of the following day. A list of movies can be found at the Front Desk. All movies must be returned by 10:30 p.m. Friday night. Movies may be checked out on a first-come basis. You may check out 2 movies at a time.

DVD Players DVD players are in the living room and bedrooms of each unit.

View Sonic TVs in living rooms except 1st and 4th floors of Bldg. 2: 1. Turn on TV and DVD Player.

Exercise Room Is located upstairs in our Clubhouse. You must be 18 years of age or older to use this facility. The exercise room key is at the Front Desk. Signature on waiver required each time you check out a key. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Fax Service Our fax number is 970-476-8225. Guests may send and receive faxes for a nominal fee. If expecting a fax greater than 20 pages, please notify the Front Desk ahead of time.

GUEST SERVICES Fire Alarms If your fire alarm is activated due to excessive smoke, caused by cooking, and it is not an emergency, DO NOT OPEN THE HALL DOOR OF YOUR UNIT! This will activate the master alarm and the entire building must be evacuated. Instead, open the sliding glass door and turn on the fan over the stove. Please call the Front Desk immediately. Fire alarms should be taken seriously. You should evacuate your unit taking your unit key with you, upon the alarm sounding. The fire department will arrive, assess the situation, and notify when it is safe to return to your unit.

Fireplaces This unit has a GAS fireplace with a timer. To turn fireplace on, press 30, 60 or 120 minutes on the timer control. To turn fireplace off, press off on the timer control.

This fireplace has a blower with a thermostat. The blower may continue to operate after the fireplace is turned off.

Front Desk / Clubhouse The Front Desk is open 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. 7 days a week. Dial “0” Furniture The Club has cribs and highchairs for rent at a nominal fee. Please ask at the Front Desk.

Housekeeping Services A complimentary mid-week service is provided for your unit. Please check the notice posted on your refrigerator for your scheduled day. We regret that the midweek service cannot be rescheduled. Additional housekeeping services are offered for a fee. If the unit is found unusually dirty during the mid-week clean or upon departure, there will be a charge of up to $100.00.

Humidifiers Are located in the entry way closet and master bedroom closet of all condominiums. Sorry, we have no extras. Additional humidifiers can be rented locally at Humid-Air 970-777-1979.

Ice and Vending Machines Vending machines are located between buildings 1 and 2 on the second floor. Ice is available at Front Desk.

GUEST SERVICES Internet Café Guests may access their e-mail on our guest computers located in the back lobby of the Clubhouse. You must be 16 years of age or older to use these computers.

There is a printer for printing boarding passes.

Internet In-Room Service Wi-Fi Service is available for free. The weekly password is available at the Front Desk and in your Welcome Package.

Connecting to the Wi-Fi Network Open your Wireless network and connect to Sandstone Creek Club. If you cannot see any wireless networks, make sure your wireless button or switch is turned ON. If you have successfully connected, you will see a Welcome Screen. When prompted in the Welcome Screen, enter the weekly password, provided to you at check-in in your Welcome Letter. If you have followed the instructions in this User Guide and still cannot connect, please call Customer Support toll-free at 1-877-208-4141.

Irons and Ironing Boards Are located in the entry way closet of condominium units in building 1 and in the washer/dryer closet of units in building 2 and 3. If the unit does not have one, one may be obtained through the Front Desk.

Keys Please keep your unit key separate from your cell phone as the cell phone can erase the key.

Laundry Room Is located on the first floor of building 1. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and free for guests.

Lost and Found Please call Front Desk. Sandstone Creek Club is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. Safes are located in each unit.

Maintenance If you find a maintenance issue in your unit during your stay, please notify the Front Desk. They will notify the Maintenance Department to schedule any necessary repairs.

Noise We request that occupants and guests refrain from making any objectionable loud noises. Quiet hours shall be from 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. Continued violation of this policy will result in fines and/or eviction from the property.

Parking Complimentary parking is available for all registered guests. Sandstone Creek Club cannot be responsible for items left in vehicles. Parking passes are required and are available at the Front Desk.

Pets Sorry, no pets allowed! Kennels are: Eagle Vail Animal Hospital 970-949-4044, Avon Pet Center 970-949-6467, and Castle Peak Vets 970-328-5444.

Safes Safes are located in the hall closets and/or in the master bedroom closets. You can set a combination number of 3 to 6 digits or use a credit card with a magnetic strip. If you attempt to open the safe with the wrong combination or credit card four consecutive times, there is a safety feature that will not allow the safe to be opened for 30 minutes. Instructions for operating the safe are located on the front of the safe.

Sales Office Sandstone Creek Club has a resale office located in the lobby Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. If you have any questions about resales, please contact Linda at 1986 or drop by the office or Front Desk during operating hours.

Security Cameras Are in use around our common areas (game room, pool, upper and lower lobby, library). Should you witness anything suspicious, please notify the Front Desk of the incident, date, and approximate time.

GUEST SERVICES Skis No skis or snowboards allowed in units. Lockers are located across from the Front Desk, keys are also available at the Front Desk. Ski boots are not allowed in the Clubhouse or in the common hallways.

Smoking Policy Smoking is NOT permitted in any indoor area, nor on balconies or decks at Sandstone Creek Club. Cigarette smoking only is permitted outside the Clubhouse and away from all buildings. Marijuana smoking is NOT permitted on the property.

Sports Equipment Policy Sports equipment is available at the Front Desk free of charge. You must have a credit card imprint on file with the Front Desk.

Swimming Pool Is located on the lower level of the Clubhouse. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 10:45 p.m.

You will need your unit key to access the pool area.

Swimming Pool Towels Towels are located between the locker rooms in the pool area. Please return towels to the used towel hamper prior to leaving the pool area. Units found with pool towels may be charged a $2.00 towel fee.

Supplies Available Facial tissues, paper towels, coffee filters, toilet paper, garbage bags, dishwashing soap, SOS pads, and laundry detergent are available at the Front Desk.

Please empty your trash at the trash receptacles prior to check-out. Recycle bins are located next to the trash receptacles and are for aluminum cans, newspapers, glass and plastic. PLEASE RECYCLE! Wake-Up Calls You can set a wake-up call directly on your unit telephone. Lift the handset, press the wake up button and ENTER the four-digit military time.

ALTITUDE SICKNESS INFORMATION The mountains of Colorado are among the most beautiful parts of America and we hope you will enjoy every minute of your visit. But some of the very features which make the high country so attractive may cause problems unless you recognize and know how to prevent them. Here’s why:

sunburn can spoil your stay. No matter how tanned you may be, use a protective cream. “Cold sores” are aggravated at high altitudes but might be prevented by a medication (Acyclovir) which your doctor can prescribe.

Snow blindness – which is sunburn of the eyes – is a real danger, especially on new snow, and even on foggy or cloudy days. Wear sunglasses or goggles with ultraviolet protection.

As you go higher, barometric pressure decreases, the air is thinner and less oxygen is available. It’s also colder and drier, and the ultraviolet rays from the sun are stronger. Each of these changes may have an unpleasant effect on your body.

Temperature falls about three degrees Fahrenheit for every 1,000 feet of altitude, and it can get cold very fast.

Take extra clothes. Hypothermia (low body temperature) can occur even in the summer if you are wet or windchilled, hungry, tired, or poorly dressed. The warning signs are clumsiness and trouble thinking or talking clearly, irritability and confusion. Watch for these signs in each other. If in doubt, stop, warm up, eat and drink – and if necessary send for help.

Altitude Many popular resorts are 8,000 to 9,500 feet above sea level, and the mountain summits rise a mile higher.

You will probably notice that your breathing is faster or deeper and you may feel short of breath, especially when you exercise. This is the body’s first and most effective response to altitude. Your heart is likely to beat faster also; this too, is a helpful normal reaction.

Most people dress appropriately in winter, but be sure boots and gloves are not wet or too tight. If you lose sensation in your face, fingers or toes, stop, look for frostbite (numb, cold, white areas) and take time to warm up.

However, you may also develop a headache, a touch of nausea, or unusual tiredness; some people even have trouble sleeping. Depending on the altitude, 20 to 30% of all visitors from near sea level have one or several of these symptoms, which we call acute mountain sickness or AMS. Children are slightly more susceptible; the older you are, the less likely you are to be affected.

Water The crisp mountain air is exhilarating, but it’s also very dry. You lose much more water than you realize in exhaled air and from sweating. It’s very important to maintain the body water, so drink two or three times more than usual. Fill your canteen in the hotel. Don’t drink from streams. Juices and water are better than tea, coffee or alcohol. Remember that at high altitudes, one alcoholic drink does the work of two.

These symptoms usually go away in a day or two. If they grow worse, or if you are worried, be sure to consult a doctor. If you develop a worsening cough, increasing shortness of breath or feel like you have fluid in your lungs, see a doctor at once! Altitude illness, though usually minor, can become serious quite rapidly, so don’t take it lightly or try to tough it out!

Injuries Accidents can happen at any time to anyone, but they are more common when you are cold, tired or hungry. Remember that lack of oxygen can impair your judgement, leading you to do foolish things. Whether hiking, skiing, playing golf or tennis, give your body plenty of food and water to function efficiently. Don’t keep going when you’re very tired; quit while you’re ahead.

Before you leave home, you can do a few things to decrease the effects of altitude. Our studies show that spending two nights at a modest altitude like 5,000 feet decreases symptoms of altitude sickness at higher altitudes. Eat more foods which are high carbohydrates, drink more water and reduce your sodium intake.

Diamox1 is a prescription drug which prevents the unpleasant symptoms for many people. Ask your doctor about its use.

Illness Of course you are as likely to get a cold, flu or upsetstomach in the mountains as you are at home. But altitude illness feels very much like flu, or a hangover, and it can be a lot more serious. If you have any doubt, get medical help. Don’t let ignorance or carelessness spoil your stay.

Once you arrive, take it easy for the first day or two.

Reduce alcohol, caffeine, and salty foods. Drink more water than usual. Salt causes your body to retain fluid (edema), which increases the severity of altitude illness.

Above all – listen to your body! Don’t push. If you feel worse and worse, get help! Minor altitude symptoms occasionally become life threatening.

There is great personal joy, beauty and spiritual peace to be discovered in the mountains. Treat yourself with respect and enjoy your stay.

AREA ATTRACTIONS Vail – The largest single-mountain resort in the U.S. with 5,289 acres of skiable terrain, including Vail’s Front Side, famous Back Bowls, and Blue Sky Basin.

Beaver Creek – Located just 10 miles west of Vail. Offers great skiing with virtually no lift lines. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, you’ll find everything you want at Beaver Creek plus a genuinely friendly atmosphere.

Adventure Ridge – Located on Vail mountain at Eagle’s Nest. Among the winter activities offered are: ice skating, tubing, ski biking, kid’s snowmobile tours, and snowshoeing. In the summer: climbing wall, rebound trampoline, pony rides, disc golf, and more. Adventure Ridge offers a variety of restaurants and operates during the day as well as most evenings. Walking Mountains Science Center – Located in Avon, this five-acre site provides the community with a place for hands-on learning and discovery. The campus boasts a wetland area, Buck Creek, aspen forests, and an indoor discovery center. For class schedule or hours of operation, call 970-827-9725.

Nature Discovery Center – Discover the wild side of Vail at this high mountain yurt next to the Eagle’s Nest gondola.

Summer nature hikes and winter snowshoe tours available. Open seasonally. Call 970-754-4675 x 10 for schedule.

Vail Nature Center – Located across Gore Creek from the Ford Amphitheater. This five-acre preserve features trails and a visitor center that hosts daily programs on topics such as wildflowers, birds, and beavers. Call 970-479-2291 for hours of operation.

Children’s Programs Vail: Children have their own special mountain areas such as Coyote Crossing at Lionshead, and Animal Kingdom at Golden Peak in Vail. Three to six-year-olds can join the Mogul Mice beginner’s class or the Super Stars class for those who are more advanced. Six to 13-year-olds can join an all-day class including lunch. Non-skiing children from two months to six years can spend the day at the Small World Day Care at Golden Peak (970-754-3200 x 1).

Beaver Creek: Beaver Creek offers lessons with grouping by age and ability so everyone has a great time (970-7545462). There are specially designed areas for children only with magical mountain adventures featuring fun ski-through attractions and NASTAR races. Non-skiing children from two months to six years receive excellent professional care and enjoy plenty of indoor and outdoor exercise at the Small World Play School. Call 970-754-5325.
