Each step in construction has been carefully scrutinized to assure comfort, performance, reliability and safety for both your passengers and yourself.

Your boat is certified by the National Marine Manufacturers Association. It also complies with the applicable standards set by the United States Coast Guard, and the International Marine Certificate Institude. Your Regal boat was built with the same attention to detail and quality of construction that we would expect in a boat we would purchase ourselves.

Whether you’re a veteran boater or a newcomer, we strongly urge you to read this boat owner’s manual thoroughly. Familiarize yourself with the various components of your boat, and heed the safety precautions noted herein.

Your Regal owner’s manual has been compiled to help you operate your craft with safety and pleasure. It contains specific details of the craft, the equipment fitted, its systems, and information on its operation and maintenance. Please read it carefully and familiarize yourself with the craft before using it.

This manual is not to be thought of as a complete shop technical guide. Your Regal dealer has received special factory training on our complete product line and his services should be employed to solve technical problems.

In addition to your Regal owner’s manual, we have provided the appropriate engine and generator manual (if applicable). All of the manuals along with vendor equipment information are located on board in the owner’s document box. Keep this document box in an area that is easy to access.

Please ensure that you obtain handling and operating experience before assuming control of your boat. Your dealer will be pleased to advise you of local training organizations such as the Power Squadron and United States Coast Guard Auxillary.

Contact your local dealer if any of the above material is missing. In keeping with its commitment to continued improvement, Regal notes that all specifications, models, standard and optional equipment referred to in this manual are subject to change without notice. Some of the equipment in this manual may not be installed on your vessel.

Owner’s Document Box In your Regal owner’s manual, many references are made to the Owner’s Document Box. In this portable box, you will find owners manuals and warranty information for the various components of your boat. This information supplements the Regal Marine owner’s manual.

Hull Identification Number (HIN) The United States Coast Guard has established a universal system of numerically identifying vessels by using a hull identification number or “HIN.” This number identifies a boat’s make, model, model year, hull number, month, and year of manufacture.

The HIN is found on the boat’s transom. Look for it on the starboard side, just below the rub rail or on the transom platform. Provide your Regal dealer with the boat’s HIN when contacting them for parts or service. The HIN consists of 12 alpha or numeric characters. See the illustration below for typical HIN location.

Owner’s Registration & Systems Checklist Please note that your Regal boat requires the proper registration by your authorized Regal dealer.

To initiate the warranty your dealer must complete the owner’s registration form and systems checklist at the time of delivery. The owner must sign the paperwork to acknowledge that the dealer has reviewed the boat systems and warranty provisions with the owner. The owner should keep the original paperwork that features a temporary warranty registration. A warranty certificate will be sent approximately 6 weeks after receipt of the paperwork at Regal headquarters.

COMMODORE LAUNCH & CRUISE CHECKLIST

Obtain a current weather report.

Inspect the hull and propeller for damage. Excessive dirt or marine growth will affect your boat’s performance and fuel efficiency.

Check the electrical system and navigation lights.

If your boat has been in the water, run the bilge pump until the flow of water stops.

If your boat has been out of the water, check to see that all bilge water has drained out. Install the garboard drain plug.

Check that all required safety equipment is on board and in good working condition.

Examples include personal flotation devices (PFD’s), horn, fire extinguishers, visual distress signals, etc. Take along a gallon of drinking water.

Check that all other equipment is on board such as mooring lines, first aid kit, tool kit and extra parts.

Open engine compartment. Inspect for fuel odors and visible leaks in the fuel, oil, coolant, exhaust and power steering systems.

Visually inspect engine for cracked hoses, defective belts, and loose fasteners such as bolts, nuts or hose clamps.

Check fuel level. Fuel tanks should be filled to slightly less than capacity. Allow for fuel expansion.

Make sure all navigation charts, equipment and vessel registration paperwork are on board.

Check operation of bilge blower, steering system, navigation lights and horn.

Make sure passengers and crew know how to operate safety equipment and react to an emergency.

File a float plan with a responsible party ashore.

Dealer’s Responsibilities Your boat has undergone rigid quality assurance inspections before leaving the factory.

However, your dealer has been trained to perform final pre-delivery checks and to service your Regal boat prior to your pick-up. Your dealer’s responsibilities include: ♦ A complete orientation in the operation of your Regal boat, including matters relating to the safe operation of your craft.

♦ To return the boat after the recommended hours of engine operation for the proper dealer service inspections. ♦ To provide proper maintenance and periodic servicing of your boat and equipment as set forth in the various manuals supplied.

Throughout this manual many precautions and symbols identify safety related infor mation items. They are recognized as caution, warning and danger.

♦ Completion and mailing of your boat registration warranty form to Regal. ♦ Warranties, registration materials, operation, installation and maintenance instructions for all auxiliary equipment supplied with or installed on your Regal boat.

striking an underwater obstruction, it may indicate a damaged propeller. If you run aground, seek help by radio or flares.

General Boating Safety We understand that you’re eager to get your new boat on the water! However, we strongly suggest that you thoroughly familiarize yourself and friends or members of your family with the safe boating practices before setting out.

Remember that along with the freedom and exhilaration of boating comes the responsibility that you have for the safety of your passengers and other boaters who share the water with you.

Boating regulations vary from state to state.

Check with your state and local authorities for the regulations pertaining to your area. ♦ Check with local weather stations, the U. S. Coast Guard, or weather station broadcasts for the latest conditions. Remember, getting caught in severe weather is hazardous. Check weather conditions periodically while you are boating and before your outing. If you are forced to operate your boat in a storm condition, take common sense precautions; wear PFDs, store gear, reduce speed and head for a safe refuge. ♦ It is best to avoid operating your boat in foggy weather. When fog sets in, take bearings, log courses and speeds. You are required to emit a five second blast from your horn or whistle once every minute. Also, have your passengers wear PFDs and observe for oncoming vessels. ♦ Operating in shallow water presents a number of hazards including sand bars and water levels influenced by tides. If the vessel strikes an underwater hazard, check for boat and engine damage. If the engine vibrates excessively after

♦ Make sure your boat and equipment are in top condition. Do this by frequently inspecting the hull, engine and all the gear. ♦ You must provide a Coast Guard approved personal flotation device (PFD) for every person on board. These PFDs, should be in good condition and easily accessible. ♦ It’s the law. Insist that non-swimmers and children on board wear a PFD at all times. Any time you encounter rough weather conditions, make sure everyone on board is wearing a PFD, including yourself. Instruct your passengers in how to put on their PFDs and be sure they know their storage location on the boat. Remember, in an emergency, a PFD that cannot be quickly located and worn is useless. ♦ Never allow anyone to sit anywhere on the boat not specifically designated for sitting. While underway, ALWAYS insist passengers sit in the provided seating and set an example by doing this yourself. ♦ Use maximum caution when fueling.

Never allow any smoke or flame nearby while you are fueling. ALWAYS check for fuel leaks and fumes when fueling is completed.

The spoken word “MAYDAY” is the international signal of distress and is for emergency use only. They are so noted for good reason.

Sensible boat use, plus courtesy, equals enjoyable and safe boating. ♦ It is your responsibility to stay abreast of all state and local rules, as some laws may differ from state to state or change at times. Remember, there are no brakes on your boat, and the water current and wind velocity all affect your ability to respond. The driver must use caution at all times to maintain control of his boat and especially to maintain a safe distance from other boats and obstacles. ♦ Always keep all safety gear in optimum condition. Pay special attention to attached tags and plates indicating expiration dates on equipment such as fire extinguishers and personal floatation devices. The following is a list of common causes of boating accidents. Be aware of them and take the necessary steps to ensure that yourself and crew are educated and prepared to act in an emergency.

♦ Choosing a boating outing day with inclement weather, especially with high winds and thunderstorms in the forecast or staying out when bad weather is approaching..

♦ Keep the VHF weather channel keyed in and check the weather frequently while underway.

♦ Disembarking without checking all fluids or systems,and especially fuel system componets. ♦ Not monitoring the boating traffic or possible obstructions around you. ♦ Emergency communications equipment, signaling devices, and navigation lights not working. ♦ Improper boat handling especially high speed turns in rough water. WATER SPORTS Besides learning the safety precautions for safe boating, as well as understanding and knowing required rules and regulations, you are obligated to be particularly careful around other water sportsman, such as scuba divers, water skiers, wake boarders, and fisherman.

Whenever you see a “Diver Down” flag, maintain a distance of at least 200 feet. The flag indicates a diver in the water. If a diver is operating from your boat, be certain to use this flag and post a lookout on board. Also, be sure your engines are turned off !

Most boaters fish from time to time. With the propulsion systems of today it is possible to fish in out-of-the -way places. When crusing, stay clear of fisherman. They may have lines or nets out which might be cut or get caught in your propeller if you come too close in. Slow down when approaching fishing boats.

Do not return to cruising speed until the boats have been passed. If a fishing boat should be anchored, a large wake could flip or swamp the boat, upset fishing gear, pull the anchor loose from the bottom or worse yet cause someone to fall overboard.

CAUTION

Swim Platform On integrated or optional platforms you should make periodic inspections of the swim ladder and hardware that supports the platform to ensure that all connections and fittings are tight and in good When fishing from your boat, never anchor in shipping channel or tie up to any navigational aids.

These must be kept clear of at all times.condition.

Use heed when operating the boat in reverse to insure that water does not accumulate excessively on the platform or transom especially in rough seas or strong currents.

Exhaust & Carbon Monoxide Carbon monoxide(CO) in exhaust can be hazardous. It is important for you and your passengers to be aware of the potential safety hazard created by exhaust gases. Familiarize yourself with the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.

For safety sake avoid the following: 1. Do not allow the boat to remain stationary with the engines idling for an extended period of time.

2. Do not disable the carbon monoxide alarms that come with your Regal boat.

3. Do not operate the engines or the generator for extended periods of time while in a confined area or where exhaust outlets face a wall or bulkhead.

4. Do not operate the engines or generator for an extended period of time with the canvas in the upright and installed position.

5. Have the engines and generator exhaust system inspected when the boat is in for service.

6. Persons sleeping can easily be overcome by carbon monoxide without realizing it.

Sleeping while the engines or generator are running is not recommended.

Blockage of exhaust outlets can cause carbon monoxide to accumulate in the cabin and cockpit area even when the hatches, windows, portholes and doors are open.

Exhaust from another vessel alongside your boat, while docked or anchored, can emit poisonous CO gas inside the cabin and cockpit areas of your boat.

The “station wagon effect” or backdrafting can cause CO gas to accumulate inside the cabin, cockpit or bridge areas when the boat is underway, using protective weather coverings, high bow angle, improper or heavy loading, slow speeds, or when the boat is at rest.

DANGER CARBON MONOXIDE (CO) IS A COLORLESS AND ODORLESS POISONOUS GAS WHICH IS EMITTED IN ENGINE AND GENERATOR EXHAUST.

To help prevent carbon monoxide accumulation, ventilate your cabin and cockpit while underway. Open a forward hatch, porthole or window to allow air to travel through the boat’s interior. See the illustration below for desired airflow.

PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO CO CAN RESULT IN UNCONSCIOUSNESS, BRAIN DAMAGE, AND DEATH.

In high concentrations, CO can be fatal in minutes. However, the effects of lower concentrations can be just as lethal.

Symptoms of excessive exposure to carbon monoxide are: • Dizziness • Drowsiness • Nausea • Headache • Ringing in the ears • Throbbing temples

• Watering, itchy eyes • Flushed appearance • Inattentiveness • Incoherence • Fatigue or vomiting • Convulsions

Carbon monoxide accumulation requires immediate attention! Thoroughly ventilate cabin and cockpit areas. Determine the probable source of the carbon monoxide and correct the condition immediately. General Rules of Seamanship

♦ A vessel engaged in fishing; these include boats fishing with lines, trawls or nets, but not trolling lines.

1. Cross waves at right angles.

♦ Sailboats; they have the right-of-way over powerboats. However, if a sailboat is using a prop to move forward, it is considered a powerboat even if the sails are up.

2. When caught in heavy water or squalls, head either directly into the waves or at a slight angle.

Reduce speed, but maintain enough power to maneuver your boat safely.

3. Keep your speed under control. Respect the rights of boaters engaged in fishing, swimming, waterskiing or diving. Give them “wide berth”.

4. When meeting a boat head on, keep to the right whenever possible.

5. When two boats cross, the boat to the right or starboard has the right of way.

6. When overtaking or passing, the boat being passed has the right of way.

Florida Manatee Sign In Florida, you may see a special sign: “Caution, Manatee Area.” When you see this sign, slow down to idle speed. Manatees, an endangered species, are passive, large, slow-moving mammals. Many manatees are seriously injured or killed each year by boat propellers. They should be given the same right-of-way respect as a less maneuverable vessel.

Right Of Way In general, boats with less maneuverability have right-of-way over more agile craft. In your Regal powerboat, you must stay clear of the following vessels: ♦ A vessel not under command or aground; due to their circumstances, these vessels have no maneuverability. ♦ A vessel restricted in its maneuverability; these vessels are performing work which limits their maneuverability such as surveying,

NAVIGATION RULES The Navigation Rules set forth 3 types of crossing situations- crossing, meeting, and overtaking. In each case, both boats are governed by special procedures.

In a head-on meeting, both vessels must sound a single blast to give way toward starboard and pass to port.

These rules appear when there is a risk of collision. In a crossing situation be aware of the other craft’s position. For safety, there should be a noticeable change in the angle, bow or stern; a gradual change in position indicates possible danger.

NAVIGATION RULES An overtaking boat is burdened, and is not the priveleged craft, enen though it approaches the danger zone of the overtaken boat.

The overtaking boat first signals with a single blast if that boat desires to pass on the starboard side of the boat ahead, or a double blast if passing to port. The overtaken craft responds with the same signal if it is safe, or with the danger signal (5 short blasts or more) if unsafe. The boat overtaking must not pass unless the appropriate signals are sounded.

Crossing Situations In a crossing situation, the boat on the right from the 12-4 o’clock position has the right-ofway. It must hold course and speed. The boat without right-of-way must keep clear and pass to the stern.

Overtaking The boat overtaking the one ahead must yield the right-of-way to the boat being passed. The overtaking boat must make any necessary adjustments to keep out of its path. The boat being passed should hold its course and speed.

Right Of Way Rule The general rule regarding right-of-way is that if a collision appears unavoidable, neither boat has right-of-way. As prescribed in the Rules of the Road, both boats must act to avoid collision.

Night Running Boats operating between sunset and sunrise ( hours vary by state), or in conditions of reduced visibility, must use navigation lights. Nighttime operation, especially during bad weather and fog, can be dangerous. All Rules of the Road apply at night, but it is best to slow down and stay clear of all boats regardless of who has right-of-way.

To see more easily at night, avoid bright lights when possible. Also, it is helpful to have a

passenger keep watch for other boats, water hazards and navigational aids.

To determine the size, speed and direction of other vessels at night, you should use the running lights. A green light indicates starboard side, and a red light indicates port side. Generally, if you see a green light, you have the right-of-way. If you see a red light, give way to the other vessel.

DOCK LINE BASICS Most skippers use dock line terminology fairly loose but there ia more to the basics than just bow or stern lines. There are several lines that can be secured to the bow and stern and depending on their direction and use, can be called other names.

Remember that “forward” and “aft” refer to the direction that a spring line runs from the vessel, and not where it is secured onboard.

Bow & Stern Lines There is only one true bow line. It is secured to the forward cleat and run forward along the dock to prevent the vessel from moving to the stern. The stern line leads from a rear cleat to a piling or cleat on the dock astern of the vessel. This line keeps the boat from moving ahead. For small vessels these are the only lines needed for normal wind and current conditions. If located in a tidal environment, keep slack in the lines.

Breast Lines These lines are attached to the bow and stern that lead to nearly right angles from the center of the vessel to the dock. They help keep larger vessels from moving away from the dock, or are pulled in to help people board the vessel. Bigger vessels may use bow or quarter breast lines.

Spring Lines Most boats use two spring lines although it is possible to have four. They are called the forward bow spring, the after bow spring, the forward quarter spring and the after quarter spring. Bow springs are secured at the vessels’ bow area. Quarter springs are fastened at the stern. Forward spring lines lead forward from the boat to the dock and control movement sternward. After springs stem aft from the vessel, and stop movement ahead.

Spring lines are used to prevent movement in a berth, ahead or astern. They are really useful in controlling the effects of a real active tidal surge.

Spring lines are useful where fenders need to be kept in place against piles.

Sizing Dock Lines Most dock lines for recreational vessels today are made of nylon, either of twisted rope or braided core and cover. The most often used material is nylon because of its stretching abilities absorbing shock loads. It is chafe resistant for extended life and is easier on hands.

The lin’s size varies with the vessel. Normally, a vessel in the 20’ to 40’ boats will use 1/2” diameter nylon lines. Larger yachts use 5/8” and 3/4” diameter nylon lines. Smaller boats can use 3/8” nylon lines.

Dock lines need to have the strength to hold the vessel and have enough density to resist chafing.

They shouldn’t be too heavy that they lose their shock-absorbing capabilities. Use the right size line for the vessel since a line to large for the boat will pull hard against the vessel since it won’t be forced to stretch. If the line is too small for the vessel, there is no margin for wear when under strain

Securing Lines

Included here are 8 possible types of docking lines for a vessel. The stern line is probably best run to the offshore side of the boat to gain improved control while still securing the stern into the pier.

Above is a boat showing crossing spring lines which allows greater line length. This is especially useful in significiant tidal ranges.

Boat Mooring Most boats can be secured to a dock using four lines.The after bow spring is crossed with the forward quarter spring and secured to individual dock cleats or pilings. This ensures longer springs and can be snugged up tighter for more efficient tidal control.

position the vessel so this point is opposite admidships. Run both spring lines to it. These lines will be shorter but still useful.

The bow and stern lines should be relatively at a 45 degree angle with the dock. The stern line can be attached to the near-shore quarter cleat, but will work more efficiently to the offshore quarter cleat. The longer line will allow the boat to flow with the tide.

When mooring your boat, make sure the dock lines are secured at both ends. Depending on your situation you may need to loop the eye splice of the dock line around a piling. Sometimes the mooring line will lead down sharply from the piling to the deck cleat. Loop the eye splice around the piling twice to keep it from being pulled up off the pile. Pull the line through the looped eye if the mooring line is too small to go around the piling twice or too small to fit over once.

If you must drop a line over a piling that already holds another boat’s line, run the eye of the line up through the first eye from below, then loop it over the pile. This will allow either line to be removed without disturbing the other. If another line is dropped over yours, simply reverse the process. Secure a little slack in the other dock line, then slip your eye up through its loop and over the top of the pile. Your line can be dropped through the other eye.

When debarking from a dock, it is easier to release the line from a cleat or piling, from on board the boat, as soon as you leave the dock.

Loop a long line around the cleat or pier and leading both ends on board you can release the line easily. Slip one end around the cleat or pile, the pull it back on board. Release the line without the eye splice, so it will run freely from around the pile without hanging up on the splice.

To throw a line to a person on the dock, coil the line in your weak hand (left hand if you are right handed) looping in a clockwise direction. Keep the line coiling smoothly avoiding any figure 8’s, the transfer about half of the loops to your throwing hand and throw them with a strong swinging style motion, while letting the coiled loops out of your other hand as they are needed. Hold on to the bitter end and if possible tie it to a cleat.

Dock lines usually have a spliced eye on one end, but not on the other end. You must decide whether to use the end with a loop on the dock or on the cleat. If you are going to be on board, it is better to keep the unlooped end on board. This means you can make adjustments without leaving the boat. If ther will be no one on the boat, use the spliced eye on board; the plain end on the dock will allow adjustment without the necessity of boarding the boat.

Fender Types The illustration below shows a variety of fender styles and types, each selected for specified uses. When choosing fenders, contact a marine dealer or supply house. Explain how you moor and use your vessel so they can recommend the best fender type for you. We suggest the ones with fill plugs so you can inflate them with a hand pump like the ones used for bicycles.

Fender Usage Fenders are normally made of a rubberized plastic and are usually filled with air. Most have a fitting like a basketball so they can be inflated or deflated. Fenders are available in a wide range of sizes and shapes to fit both small and large vessels.

Fenders are normally designated in inches. They are used between piers, docks, sea walls and the boat.

They protect the topsides of the boat from rubbing against rough objects. Most fenders have eyes of attachment which allow a line to be inserted vertically or horizonally. This will permit the fender to be tied off to fit a variety of marina, dock and tidal situations.

Be sure the fender is correct for the vessel size. It is a good idea to carry extra fenders but half a dozen is normally an acceptable number. Remember to store fenders on board so they can be easily accessed.

Some people incorrectly call fenders “bumpers”.

TWIN SCREW (INBOARD) MANEUVERING Twin-screw (sometimes called twin-inboard or V-drive) boats use twin rudders located directly behind each propeller. These propellers are counterrotating which will balance steering torque. On Regal twin-screws the port propeller is left-handed and the starboard propeller is right-handed. Mark the propellers in case they need to be changed or repaired at some point as they could be mismatched on reinstallation since they both fit the shaft.

Moving forward with the starboard engine for a port turn, the propeller offset from the centerline enhances significiently to pushing the stern to starboard.

In reverse, the starboard propeller throws it thrust energy toward the starboard side of the hull to assist in turning the stern to port. The port propeller reversing, throws its thrust against the port hull side to assist the pivot of the stern to starboard.

The important ingredients in turning and steering are combined by the outward turning propellers. The steering result is used in the same direction as the turning movement caused by the off centerline propeller location.

Gathering Headway As opposed to a boat with a single propeller, if the V-drive transmission of a twin-screw vessel are put in gear together, the vessel will make headway without the tendency to pull to the port or starboard.

Of course the throttles must be in the same rpm range as read on the tachometers. This factor is very basic to this type of vessel having superior handling and control in tight spaces along with being able to handle wind and current much more adequately than single screw or outdrive boats.

Turning When you have two propellers available it provides the skipper a means of shifting one propeller or the other forward or reverse without the assistance of the rudder. When manuvering at slow speeds the steering wheel is not normally used; the skipper uses the shift and throttle controls to control the vessels actions.

A vessel’s stern may be pushed to one side or the other by moving ahead or reversing with just one propeller. A bit of headway or sternway does accompany the turning motion. You can gain the most turning effect by energizing one propeller forward and the other propeller in reverse.

One advantage of a twin-screw becomes evident when you can turn the vessel in a circle just larger than the vessel itself. As an example, to turn to starboard, the rudders can be centered, while the port engine moves forward and the starboard engine reverses. If you want an even tighter turn, use the rudders.

Begin this type of turn with the engines at idle or in gear at the same rpm ( revolutions per minute).

For a starboard turn, put the port shifter in forward and the starboard shifter in reverse. When the vessel starts to turn, it may begin to make headway. This relates to the boat and propeller design. As a result, you may have to advance the port throttle abit to increase the rpm of the reversing starboard propeller.

When the port engine speed is increased abit, the circle is bigger and the vessel makes headway. If the port engine speed is decreased, the circle becomes larger, but the vessel goes sternway as the reversing starboard propeller pulls it around, stern to port.

Backing Down The skipper of a twin-screw vessel has a great advantage over other boats because they can be steered with the rudders when backing down. The benefits are less than moving forward because the propellers thrust is directed away from the rudders rather than at them.

Furthermore, besides the rudders, the twin-screw vessel skipper can use the throttles to slow down an individual or both engines as a help to steering when maintaining sternway. As a option, the skipper is able to stop one propeller or go ahead on it for a higher control factor in reverse.

Stopping The best way to stop a twin-screw vessel is by reversing the propellers, This action will not push the stern to one side like other type powered vessels.

The skipper of a twin-screw boat can use the following approach idea in both port and starboard situations; with the boat stopped, the skipper can reverse the propeller so the stern will be pushed toward the dock. With the starboard approach, reverse the outboard engine propeller to check headway when approaching parallel to a dock, the stern will move in. With the port approach, the reversing starboard right-hand propeller will move the stern toward the port. When approaching to put the vessel’s starboard side to the pier, the reversing port propeller will move the stern toward starboard.

STEPS TO TWIN-SCREW DOCKING Twin-screw (sometimes called twin engine) boats can be maneuvered in tight quarters which is always a plus in winds, currents, or busy marina environments. Depending on the conditions, stop the boat in front of the dock, slightly to windward or up current. The rudder can be used as needed.

Use the examples below as a guide since each situation can be unique.

As the boat begins to back, it will track in a port direction. By moving in a forward direction with the port engine the boat will be forced to turn and align with the dock. When you reach a comfortable alignment, the port engine is put in reverse which will allow continued backing to the dock.

Some adjustment in tracking can be realized by putting either gear momentarily in neutral or forward. Going forward on the port engine pushes the stern to port; the starboard engine going forward pushes the stern to starboard. Again, keep your calm and do not overract to the situation.

B. When the boat is fully in the dock insert both engines in forward gear momentarily to stop all stern motion. Secure the boat.

Towing In case you find yourself aground or in need of a tow, or should you want to tow another vessel, keep in mind that you should never use deck hardware to secure lines for towing!

Deck hardware is intended for mooring and anchoring, and is generally not designed to withstand the strain and pull of towing. Rather than tie the line to your cleats on deck, it is suggested that you tie a bridle by passing a line completely around the hull of your boat, to avoid structural damage.

When towing, always stand clear of a taut line, as any type of line breaking under stress can be extremely dangerous. The perferred line for towing is double-braided nylon, as it has sufficient elasticity to cushion shock loads.

When towing, remember to move slowly and cautiously. Always keep an eye on the lines to avoid collision in case of snapped lines.

ABOVE ALL, MOVE SLOWLY AND CAUTIOUSLY!

Anchoring Selecting the correct anchor is an important decision. The anchor style in part depends on the usage and boat type. Regal boats designate an anchor type and or model. Some models incorporate chain, line with an optional windlass. Contact an authorized Regal dealer for more information.

Anchoring is easier with another person on board.

First be certain that the line for the anchor is properly attached, to avoid losing the anchor and anchor line overboard.

For most anchors to perform more efficiently, you should attach 3 to 6 feet of chain. The chain will stand up to the abrasion of sand, rock, or mud on the bottom much better than a nylon line. It should be galvanized to reduce corrosion. Next, attach a length of nylon line to the other end of the chain.

Chapter 1

The nylon will stretch under a heavy strain cushioning the impact of waves or wind on both the boat and the anchor.

To anchor, select a well protected area, preferably with a flat bottom. Contrary to modern belief, you do not throw the anchor over while the boat is making headway, or moving forward. In fact, the bow of the boat should be bought slowly backward, while easing the anchor slowly over the side of the boat until it hits the bottom. To “snub the line” means to stop its outward “pay” or movement. Usually the length of anchor line used should be 5 to 10 times the depth of the water.

After you have anchored, check your position with landmarks if possible. You need to continue to monitor these landmarks to make sure you are not drifting. Since anchoring can also be an emergency procedure, the anchor and line should be readily accessible.

For increased holding power in windy conditions, two anchors are sometimes set. If your primary anchor drags, you can run out your secondary anchor without picking up the primary one. The important thing is to lay them out at an angle. When setting two anchors, make sure they are fastened to separate rodes or cleats.

This is done in case you need to adjust one later so the line is accessible.

If two anchors are used ahead of a boat, make sure to set the rodes at an angle than in a straight line to reduce the chances of tangeling as the boat moves in wind and current. See the above illustration.

Each engine has a breaker located on the engine that protects the gauges and ignition switch (check the manufacturer’s manual for more information. Each switch located on the dash is protected in most cases by the dash main breaker located on the distribution panel as well as a breaker located next to each switch. In order to operate the electrical switches on the main dash you must turn on the battery switches and the dash main breaker at the distribution panel.

The helm station is equipped with a complete set of instruments that allows you to monitor the condition of the engines.

Tachometer

Fuel

The tachometer indicates the speed of the engine in revolutions per minute (rpm). The tachometer allows you to monitor the engine speed so you do not exceed the recommended limits of the engine manufacturer.

The fuel gauge indicates the level inside the tanks. It is recommended to keep the fuel tanks topped off when possible to reduce fuel vapors inside the tanks. It is recommended not to run the fuel level close to empty in order to leave an adequate “safety” factor.

Volt The volt meter monitors the battery condition as well as the alternator performance. Normal voltage is between 12.0 and 15.0 volts when the system is charging normally. Readings outside of this range may indicate a charging system problem.

Oil Pressure The oil pressure gauge indicates the pressure of the oil inside the engine lubrication system.

A drop in oil pressure may be an indication of low crankcase oil or a leak. Continued operation of the engines with low oil pressure could lead to engine damage. Refer to engine manual.

Engine Temperature The temperature gauge monitors the cooling system of the engine. A sudden increase in the temperature could be a sign that the cooling system may need service. Continued operation of the engines at high temperature could lead to engine damage. Consult the engine manufacturer’s owners manual.

Hour Meters Hour meters are provided to help you keep track of equipment use. It is important to turn the ignition switch off when the engines are not in use or additional hours will register on the hour meters regardless of whether the engine is actually running.

On the 4460 the hour meters are located on the lower dash breaker panel. On the 3880, the hour meters are found on the bridge breaker panel located behind the starboard forward cushion.

Depth Gauge: The depth gauge indicates the water depth under the keel of the boat. By monitoring the water depth closely, damage to props and underwater hardware may be avoided.

Ignition Switch: The ignition switch has three positions: off, run, and start. The start position is spring loaded and the key should be held in this position to engage the engine starter. Once the engine has started, release the ignition switch from the start position to the run position. Do not leave the key in the on position when the engine is not running.

Audible Engine Alarms: The engines installed in your vessel may have been equipped with an audible engine alarm system. It is designed to tell you when one of the sensors has detected a deviation from normal operating parameters. The system may monitor engine temperature, oil pressure, and transmission oil temperature. It is normal to hear an “alarm” when the key is turned in the on position until the engine starts and develops oil pressure, at which time the alarm should stop. Consult the engine manufacturer’s manual for more information.

Gas Vapor Detector : Instrument Lighting : Each gauge has a light inside the instrument panel that will illuminate the gauge at night. The “panel light” switch located on the dash controls this function. If condensation develops in the gauges, turn on the gauge lights for a period of time to exit the moisture.

Chapter 2

The gas vapor detector determines if there is a level of gasoline vapors that is unsafe in the engine room of the boat. If you have a gas vapor detector on your boat, turn on the unit and wait about one minute for it to do its safety test. If all is well it will give you a green light. You must run the test before you start the engines. In the event you don’t get a green light, you should investigate the bilge of the boat for gas fumes or signs of a fuel leak before starting the engines. If uncertain, consult a marine service professional.

Propellers:

It is important that you read the engine manual(s) carefully and become completely familiar with proper care and operation as well as necessary maintenance on the engines and drive systems. Pay careful attention to the sections on winterization if you live in freezing climates. Extensive damage can result if proper winter storage is not followed.

Consult your Regal dealer on winterization.

The propellers installed on your Regal boat have been tested during quality assurance inspections that every Commodore must pass.

We have carefully chosen the propellers to give your boat the best possible all around performance and have allowed for the additional weight in equipment and persons that might be added to the boat.

Engine Removal:

Transmissions:

In the event that the engines require major service the cockpit deck hatch can be disconnected to accomodate their removal. Consult your Regal dealer for additional information.

The transmissions on your Commodore aredesigned to provide years of reliable service.

The first scheduled maintenance is recommended after the first 50 hours of operation, and then on an annual basis. The transmission oil dip stick level should be checked before each outing.

Consult your closest Regal dealer for transmission service.

Engine Mounts: The engine is installed in the hull using rubber isolation mounts designed to help reduce the vibration that can occur during operation. The mounts are adjustable port and starboard as well as fore and aft to aid in engine and shaft alignment.

Alignment:

Stuffing Box: The propshaft stuffing box is lubricated by a water cooled shaft seal assembly. Unlike the traditional boxes with packing glands, there is no amount of water that needs to drip per minute.

Shaft alignment should be left to a qualified marine service technician. Alignment should be checked after the first 50 hours of operation and on an annual basis normally on recommissioning.

It should also be done whenever alignment has significantly shifted due to grounding or striking something underwater, or after the vessel is lifted or launched. Angular misalignment is corrected using the adjustments in the engine mounts. The coupler faces must be parallel within .003 inch. Contact a Regal dealer to arrange alignment service.

Seacocks:

Strainers: Sea strainers filter debris from sea water that is used by the engines, generator, or air conditioner If you suspect overheating, check the sea strainer for debris. Cleaning the sea strainer is accomplished by closing the seacock handle above the intake through hull ( to stop the boat from taking on water when the sea strainer top is removed), removing the top from the sea strainer, removing the strainer basket and cleaning it. Reassemble the sea strainer in the reverse order.

Your boat is equipped with seacocks to shut off water for the following systems: engines, generators, air conditioners, toilets and macerators if equipped. Close off seacocks for repairs and maintenance to the system or when your boat is unattended for an extended period of time.

Ensure that the seacocks are in the open position before operating the system or running the engines and generator.

CAUTION TURN OFF ALL ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION AND NAVIGATION EQUIPMENT PRIOR TO STARTING THE BOAT’S ENGINES.

Shift & Throttle Control: The remote control operates the engine’s throttle and shift functions from the helm. The Commodores use twin dual lever controls.The throttle controls are located on the starboard side of the helm and feature red handles. The shift controls are located on the port side of the helm and feature black handles.

Starting the Engines: Please read the blower information before attempting to start your engines. Also, refer to the owner’s document box for additional remote control literature located in the engine manual.

As a safety feature the shift lever must be in neutral, or straight up in the 12:00 position to start the engines. If the control was in gear the boat could start to move before you were prepared, causing possible damage. The control has a safety feature called the neutral safety switch. (See neutral safety switch for more information).

The engine starter will not engage unless the control is in the neutral position. The throttle levers should be in the idle position.

THE CHANGES IN THE CURRENT SUPPLY DURING ENGINE START-UP CAN DAMAGE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT.

Shifting Transmissions: The engines and transmissions should have a few minutes running time on them to allow the components to warm up and the engines to stabilize before shifting. Rotating the black shift levers forward (bow) engages the engines into forward gear. Rotating the shift lever backward (stern) engages the engines into reverse. When docking at idle speeds you may use one engine in forward and one engine in reverse to assist in the turning process. Shifting should always be done at idle speeds or transmission damage may result.

Throttle Controls: The throttle controls the engine speed.

Moving the throttle lever forward increases engine speed. Moving the throttle lever backward reduces engine speed. Docking maneuvers should be done at idle speed.

Remember that the boat has weight and inertia and will not stop immediately. There are no brakes on your boat. When cruising it is advantageous for both engines to be operated at the same speed (rpm). This reduces noise and vibration and increases efficiency.

Synchronizing the engines during cruising can be done by referencing the tachometers.

Steering System Advance the throttles and try to keep the tachs at the same rpm’s. The throttle handles may not necessarily be lined up when both engines are at the same rpm (synchronized).

REMOTE CONTROLS

The vessel utilizes a hydraulic steering system that consists of a hydraulic helm located at the dash.

Hydraulic hoses connect the helm to a steering cylinder located in the engine room. The steering cylinder controls the bronze rudders that are connected to each other by a large stainless steel tie bar and bronze hardware. For more complete information on the steering system, refer to the manufacurer’s information located in the owner’s document box and the illustration in this chapter.

Operation: The operation of the wheel is similar to driving a car; turning the wheel counter clockwise moves the boat to port, turning the wheel clockwise moves the boat to starboard.

Neutral Safety Switch:

Unlike a mechanical steering system there is no definite end to the travel of the steering wheel. The helm has relief valves that allow the wheel to continue turning after the steering cylinder has reached the end of its travel. You will feel a slight increase in effort to turn the wheel once this has occurred.

Refer to the manufacturer’s literature located in the owner’s document box for further information.

The shift control provides neutral start protection to ensure that the transmission is in neutral before the engine can start. This is a safety feature. If your engine starter will not turn the engine over, check to ensure the shift control handle is in the neutral position.

Chapter 4 Electrical System DC (Direct Current 12 Volt)

The DIRECT CURRENT (DC 12 volts) system on your Commodore uses the power stored in the batteries to operate numerous boat systems.

The majority of DC powered items on the boat will only operate from 12 volt DC current. The DC powered items on the boat include: the engines, optional generator, gauges, dash switches, lighting, refrigerators, water pump, shower pump, bilge pumps, electric head and optional windlass.

Besides the individual engine batteries, there is a deep cycle “house” battery. This battery is used to operate the other DC appliances and equipment on the vessel. All batteries should be inspected for water levels monthly.

If the battery switches and breakers are not properly set, the boat will not have DC power.

12 volt DC and 120/240 volt AC. are distributed, protected, and controlled by the AC/ DC. panel located in the salon. DC. circuits usually have secondary switches located throughout the boat such as light switches, and the DC. switches located by the helm. Helm switches also incorporate circuit breakers which are located below the dash switches.

The batteries are charged on your vessel by the engine alternators or the battery charger.

Chapter 4

CAUTION NEVER TURN THE BATTERY SELECTOR SWITCH TO THE “OFF” POSITION WHILE THE ENGINES ARE RUNNING. DOING THIS WILL DAMAGE THE ALTERNATOR OR ENGINE WIRING.

Alternators: The alternators charge all batteries through the battery isolator only while the engines are running. The isloator selectively charges each battery as needed. Voltage leaves the alternators, travels through the battery isolator, the breakers located by the battery switches, and then returns to the battery. A normal voltage on the dash volt meter is between 12 and 15. Lower or higher readings could indicate a charging malfunction or weak battery.

The alternators are normally internally energized above 1200 revolutions per minute. At idle speeds below 1200, the volt meter will show around 12 volts. For more information, refer to the manufacturer’s engine manual.

Battery Charger: A battery charger is located in the engine room. Its function is to keep all batteries fully charged ensuring prompt starts and supplying power to run accessory equipment. The battery charger operates on 120 volt AC. shore power or generator power to provide the AC source for the battery charger to function. The main AC battery converter /charger breaker needs to be activated for battery charging. The engine batteries are separated from the house batteries for safety. If the house

AC/DC Panel Switch & Meter Functions

batteries are fully drained by accident the engine batteries will still allow the engines to be started. The engines can then be used to charge the house batteries. It is critical to consider the warnings on carbon monoxide if the engines are run to charge the electrical system.

12 Volt DC Control:

DC Circuit Protection: Engine circuit protection is located on the engine itself. The engine breaker is resetable.

Consult the engine manufacturer’s manual located in the owner’s document box for further information. The engine breaker powers and protects the key switch as well as the dash gauges. It does not power the dash switches such as bilge pump, blower, etc..

House circuits make up the majority of circuit protection.

The 12 volt circuit breaker panel side of the AC/DC panel manages 12 volt electrical power. The 12 volt main distribution panel incorporates main circuit breakers for the dash, cabin, windlass, and electronics.

Fwd, Mid, Aft Cabin Lights: These breakers control power to the light switches throughout the cabin areas of the boat including all ceiling fixtures.

A/B Switch: The (A/B switch) black box allows a television signal through the arch mounted television antenna or through land sources via the marina dockside plug-in (if available). The A/B switch is located in the electronic circuit between the VCR/TV(s) and coxial cable boat inlet.

The A/B box features two buttons. Button A allows television viewing up to 155 channels.

The A coxial cable runs through the vessels shore power system and is connected to the marina dockside power supply.

Button B utilizes the radar arch antenna and normally allows several television channels depending on local recieving towers. Refer to the TV cable/antenna layout drawing for more information.

Chapter 4

Head: This breaker controls power to the standard vacuflush head (4460) and electric head (3880 & 3860).

Refrigerator: This breaker controls DC power to the refrigerator. It is also possible to power the refrigerator off the AC side of the panel. In the event both breakers are turned on simultaneously the refrigerator will automatically switch to the AC circuit and no damage to the refrigerator will occur. It should be noted that the refrigerator is a large power user when running off the DC side. Keeping

the refrigerator running on DC current without charging the batteries, such as the engines, running can deplete the batteries quickly. Whenever possible, utilize AC power to run the refrigerator.

Fresh Water:

CO Detector: This breaker controls the carbon monoxide detectors in the forward, salon and aft cabins.

Level Monitor:

This breaker energizes the fresh water demand pump which supplies water to the head, galley, entertainment center and transom shower .

This breaker powers the fresh water/waste level monitor and must be energized for the gauge to read each level.

Generator Remote Control:

Accessory: On the 4460 this breaker controls any after market 12 volt product added to the electric panel Make sure the amperage is within the correct specifications and the correct breaker is used when adding any equipment.. Read the paperwork carefully for electrical specifications. On the 3880, the equipment room lights are controlled by this breaker

Located on the DC side of the AC/DC panel is the generator control. Similiar controls are located on the generator itself.

CAUTION SEE THE OWNER’S MANUAL FOR DETAILED GENERATOR OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS.

Blower:

T.V. Antenna: This breaker supplies power to the radar arch mounted television antenna. This breaker need not be energized when plugged into a dockside TV coaxial plug.

Head Vent:

This breaker controls the engine room ventilation blowers. Also, there is a blower switch located on the dash. These switches control the same blowers. Check the engine compartment by sniffing and visually checking for gasoline vapors.

Operate the blower for at least 5 minues before starting the generator.

This breaker controls the aft head exhaust fan.

Stereo: This breaker controls power to the stereo components.

Start: WARNING BEFORE STARTING GENERATOR: CHECK ENGINE ROOM FOR GASOLINE VAPORS. TURN ON BLOWER FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES BEFORE STARTING GENERATOR. RUN BLOWER CONTINIOUSLY AFTER STARTING GENERATOR.

This switch controls power to the generator starter motor. The on switch immediately above the start switch will also have to be manually held to start the generator. After the generator starts release this start switch but momentarily hold the Start/run switch.

Stop: Off & On: Ensure 30 amp main breaker for the shore power is in the “OFF” position. This switch controls power to the generator start switch. It also disables a safety shutdown system on the generator that monitors oil pressure among other items on the generator. This allows the generator to run until it develops oil pressure at which time this switch can be released. This switch must be held in the “on” position while the generator start switch is pressed until the generator has run long enough to develop the proper oil pressure. If it is released too soon the generator will fail to start.

You should listen for the sound of the generator running and/or watch the AC volt meter on the panel.

To turn the generator “OFF” push the stop button. If the generator will not be used for an extended period of time, close the seacock and slide

CAUTION NEVER TURN THE GENERATOR SWITCH TO THE “OFF” POSITION WHILE THE GENERATOR IS RUNNING. DOING THIS WILL DAMAGE THE GENERATOR OR ALTERNATOR WIRING.

CAUTION THE GENERATOR ENGINE USES SEA WATER AS A COOLANT.

Shore Power Connections: The Regal Commodore uses dual 30 amp service, each powered by its own 30 amp cord.

Shore power cords can be stored in the transom locker area.

Volt Meter: This gauge shows the condition of the “house” battery. This gauge is controlled by the D.C. main cabin breaker located at the sump distribution panel. As the condition of the battery recedes the gauge will drop closer to the 12 volt level and below.

HAVE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM INSPECTED BY A MARINE

This amp gauge shows the amount of current that is being drawn out of the batteries. The higher the number the faster the batteries will run down. You can monitor the amount of current that each DC electrical device draws as you turn on the breakers. This procedure is useful in troubleshooting to see which appliances are using excessive current draw vs. their rated draw.

Electrical System (120-240 Volt) The AC/DC panel is devoted to controlling alternating current used on the vessel. AC power will come from shore power cords connected to a power source on a dock or from the optional generator. The AC panel controls and protects all AC circuits on the boat.

SERVICE PROFESSIONAL.

The shore power inlets and inlet breakers are also located inside this transom locker. When connecting the shore power it is recommended that all breakers be turned off including the breaker on the dockside power source.

Note: Always connect the cord to the power inlet receptacle of the boat before making connections to the shore power source. Always disconnect the shore power cord from the dockside first before disconnecting from your boat.

Note: The breaker labeled water heater needs to be in the “off ” position until the fresh water system including the water tank has been filled, pressurized and primed. Electrical power to an empty water heater may result in damage to the heating element located inside the water heater.

Some marinas are not equipped with twist lock-type receptacles. In this case an adapter available at most marine stores will physically fit the shore power cords to a variety of connector plugs. A popular version is the twist lock to a 3 prong grounded plug. See your Regal dealer for more information. Use only approved adapters.

To lock the power cord into the ship’s receptacle insert the cord end until it bottoms out and then twist the cord end clockwise to secure it. Turn the locking ring until it is fully threaded. Duplicate the same operation with the dockside receptacle.

When necessary, a single cord will operate the AC panel and all functions by utilizing the “transfer” breaker feature. However, service will be limited to 30 amps unless both cords are utilized together. For more information on the transfer feature of the AC panel see “transfer” in the switch descriptions below.

Once the shore power cords are properly connected to the dockside power source, the breakers on the dockside power source, and the inlet breakers on the boat can be flipped to the “on” position. Check to see that the reversed polarity indicator next to the inlet breakers for shore power 1 and 2 does not come on when the power cords are connected.

If the reverse polarity light appears this is an indication that there is a problem with the marina dock wiring. Contact marina personnel immediately.

CAUTION

Power Cords & Breakers: The shore power cord breakers are located inside the starboard transom storage area on the 3880. On the 4460, these breakers are located at the starboard cockpit. They must be switched on for AC current to travel to the AC panel main breakers. If there is no AC current shown on the AC/DC panel try to reset the power cord inlet breaker.

Generator: This is the breaker that supplies the AC panel power when the generator is running. The black plastic slider must be slid up toward the shore 1 breaker in order to be able to activate the generator breaker. The generator breaker should be in the off position when starting or stopping the generator. Once the generator is running, you can turn the generator breaker to the on position to power the AC panel. The “transfer” breaker should be used to supply generator power to the right side of the panel on the “shore 2” side.

Transfer:

IF THE REVERSED POLARITY LIGHT COMES ON DON’T TRY TO TURN THE MAIN BREAKER TO THE “ON” POSITION. DISCONNECT THE POWER CORDS AND CONTACT MARINA MANAGEMENT IMMEDIATELY.

The transfer breaker shifts power to the right side shore 2 of the panel from the shore 1 power, or from the generator which otherwise would only provide power to the left side of the AC panel. It is used when shore 2 power is being utilized or the generator is supplying AC power.

The slider bar must be slid up toward the shore 2 breaker to be able to activate the transfer breaker.

Note that only 30 amp service would be available when running the Commodore on one shore power cord. When using the transfer breaker to provide power to the right side of the panel, it is important to monitor power usage by utilizing the load current meter. There is a limited supply of power which may not be adequate to run all equipment at one time. Some devices may need to be shut off to reduce the total load.

Water Heater: The water heater breaker supplies power to the hot water heater. It is best to leave this breaker off unless hot water is needed. When using hot water it will also be necessary to activate the water pressure breaker on the DC side of the panel to have the necessary water pressure. Note that the water heater also uses hot water from the engines to produce hot water without using AC power.

Note: The hot water heater contains an element similar to a home unit. To prevent the element from failing make sure the water heater is filled before turning the breaker to the on position.

Forward/Aft Outlets: This breaker supplies power to the forward and aft cabin outlets. Outlets on this circuit have been equipped with a Ground Fault Interrupter (GFCI) sometimes called a GFI. The GFI outlets are designed to protect persons from being shocked, to protect equipment and wiring. If the GFCI outlets trip their breakers they will need to be reset before any outlets will work. Receptacles are capable of handling 15 amperes. GFCI outlets need to be tested weekly to ensure proper operation. Refer to the owner’s document box for more information.

Ice Maker (3880,3860 option): This breaker controls power to the ice maker.

Note that thefresh water pump breaker located on the DC side of the panel needs to be on in order to have water available to make ice. The ice maker owner’s manual is located in the owner’s document box. When not in use the ice should be emptied and the ice maker door left open to reduce moisture build up which can harm the unit.

The door latch has a special catch that will hold the door in a slightly open position when empty.

Battery Charger: The battery charger breaker supplies power to the charger located in the bilge equipment area.

The battery charger breaker controls the charging mode of the battery charger. The charger is normally left on when the boat is moored so equipment such as bilge pumps and other auxillary equipment can continually receive a charge.

Microwave/Stove:

Refrigerator: This breaker controls power to the refrigerator. The refrigerator also has a DC breaker that will power the refrigerator. It is recommended to utilize the AC refrigerator power whenever possible. In the event that both breakers are enabled, the refrigerator will automatically switch to the AC power and no damage will result. Refer to the owner’s document box for more information.

These breakers control power to the galley stove and microwave units. See the owner’s document box for more information.

AC Meter Functions AC Volt Meter:

Acc: A spare breaker (accessory) position is available on the main electrical panel. With the central vacuum(option) this breaker position is occupied on the 4460 and 3780.

Note: When installing additional options on the boat make sure the breaker amperage rating is able to handle the specific appliance.

The AC volt meter is located at the left top of the AC/DC panel. It measures the AC voltage coming to the panel from the shore power. If the voltage indicates a reading of 105 volts or less, contact marina management. If zero voltage is the indication, check your power cord(s) for proper attachment. Also, check the breakers at the power inlets to make sure they are in the “ON” position. If there is no voltage call marina management.

Aft/Forward AC These two breakers control the A/C compressors in the (forward cabin, salon, head), and aft cabin areas. As you select each individual breaker or both, turn on the A/C relay to ensure proper cooling water to each compressor

A/C Relay:

Load Current Meter: The load current meter (sometimes referred to as an amp meter) is located at the right top of the AC/DC panel. This meter indicates the amount of current (amps) being drawn by devices and appliances being used. It assists in managing power usage which is sometimes limited if a single 30 amp power cord or the generator is used.

This breaker controls the air conditioner water pump that supplies each compressor. with water. When the forward and/or aft A/C breaker is activated, the A/C relay needs to be turned on at the same time. If this procedure isn’t followed, the A/C system will not operate properly. See the air conditioning manual in the owner’s document box.

Chapter 5 Fuel System

Fuel Fills:

General: The fuel system used in your Regal boat is designed to meet the requirements of the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Marine Manufacturers Association at the time of manufacturer. The system consists of fuel fill fittings marked “gas” or “diesel,” fuel hoses, aluminum fuel tanks, anti-siphon valves, fuel distribution valves, fuel filters, fuel tank vents and fuel gauges.

WARNING USE OF ALCOHOL ENHANCED FUEL OR ANY FUEL OTHER THAN GASOLINE CAN LEAD TO DETERIORATION OF THE FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS AND CREATE AN EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS CONDITION RESULTING IN FIRE AND POSSIBLE EXPLOSION.

Fuel Tank(s): The 4460/3880/3860 use aluminum fuel tanks. Access plates are located to allow periodic inspections of the fuel system. On the 4460 there is an inspection plate under the cushion aft of the cockpit refreshment center and visible looking to the starboard side. You can inspect the starboard front tank fittings from this point.

All other fuel tank fittings can be accessed from the bilge (sump) area.

Chapter 5

The fuel fills are located on the aft section of the deck. They are labeled “gas” or “diesel” to make identifying them easier. You will find a fuel fill key included in the owner’s document box.

Always ensure that the correct fuel is added to the correct deck fitting and the fitting is closed tightly.

Fuel Vents: The fuel tank is vented overboard. While the tank is filled, air that is displaced by the incoming fuel and is relieved through the fuel vent. When the tank is near full slow the fuel fill rate to eliminate the chance that fuel will splash overboard through the fuel vent. The fuel vent fittings are designed to minimize any fuel spillage.

Periodically inspect the fuel vent screen for restrictions such as wax build up or spider webs etc.. A blocked fuel vent will cause a slow filling condition and backsplash through the fill.

Anti-Siphon Valves: The fuel supply line is equipped with an antisiphon valve where the fuel line attaches to the fuel tank. It resembles a hose barb. The valve prevents fuel from siphoning out of the tank in the event of a fuel line rupture or disconnected fuel hose. Anti-siphon valves are important safety components. DO NOT remove them from the fuel system. Clean or replace clogged or stuck anti-siphon valves. Contact a marine professional for more information.

Fuel Gauge & Sender: The fuel gauges are only a indication of fuel reserves in the fuel tank. They ARE NOT

calibrated instruments and an adequate supply of fuel should be maintained.

Fuel Filter: Fuel filters are installed on each engine.

Filters should be inspected on a regular basis.

Consult your engine manufacturer’s manual for fuel filter maintenance schedules.

Gasoline engines have a spin on style fuel filter that resembles an oil filter. These filters will trap water in fuel. It is a good idea to keep extra fuel filters on board as well as a filter wrench and materials to catch and dispose of residue fuel properly.

To transfer fuel turn the fuel transfer switch toward the fuel tank to which you want the fuel to flow. Monitor the fuel gauges and continue to transfer fuel until the tanks are equalized. Diesel Fuel System: Diesel engines have similar fuel filters as well as an independent fuel filter made by Racor.

The Racor diesel fuel filter and filter element are replaceable. They are available from Racor dealers and auto supply houses. See the typical fuel filter overview in the next column (Parts may vary by model).

Diesel propulsion systems utilize fuel “supply” and “return” lines. The supply lines feed fuel to the engine(s). Return lines transfer fuel not burned by the engine(s) back to the fuel tank.

Fuel Transfer Pump:(diesel) A fuel transfer pump is included within the diesel fuel system. The pump equalizes the volume of fuel between two fuel tanks.

Gas Vapor Detector:

Engine Ventilation:

A gas vapor detector monitors the engine compartment for accumulations of gasoline vapors. In the event of vapors, an alarm will sound at the helm. The operator must take immediate action to avoid the possibility of an explosion. Gasoline vapors will collect low in the engine room. If an alarm sounds, inspect the engine room for traces of gasoline or signs of gasoline fumes and take appropriate action.

The boat is equipped with a ventilation system designed to evacuate potentially dangerous gas vapor fumes from the engine compartment.

The boat has ignition protected ventilation blower motors that remove gasoline vapors that can accumulate in the engine compartment. The blower switch is located on the dash near the ignition key. An additional blower switch is located on the AC/DC panel near the generator control.

This panel switch is found on both nongenerator and generator boats. Diesel boats are not required to have a blower because the fuel vapors are not explosive. Diesel boats feature a blower which supplies additional engine room ventilation to help cool the compartment.

WARNING GASOLINE VAPORS CAN EXPLODE! BEFORE STARTING ENGINES, OPERATE BLOWER FOR AT LEAST 5 MINUTES AND CHECK THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND BILGE FOR GASOLINE VAPORS.

Chapter 6 Water/Waste Systems Water System: Your Commodore is equipped with a fresh water supply system. It consists of a water tank, deck fill vent, water monitor system, pressure waterpump, distribution system, water filter, accumulator tank, dockside water pressure regulator and water heater. The system holds fresh water until it is energized with the pressure pump or with the dockside water pressure regulator system. The system will supply water to the galley, head, cockpit and transom shower. A system overview is included to illustrate the water system layout.

The system is winterized from the factory utilizing a product called “freeze ban”. It is best to completely drain the freeze ban before adding any water to the tank in order to minimize the taste of the freezeban. Freezeban will not harm you but it does have a peculiar taste. The system requires little maintenance except occasional cleaning of the water filter and winterizing during cold weather.

Fresh Water Tank: The water system should be disinfected prior to use and at the beginning of each season. Your marina may have products designed specifically for this purpose. An alternative is to use common household bleach. The formula used by the U.S. Public Health Service is to multiply the gallon capacity of the system by 0.13 to get the ounces of common bleach to add to the system. Mix a solution of common bleach with a gallon of water and add to the water storage tank through the deck

fill. Fill the tank with fresh water. All faucets should be turned on until a bleach odor is detected. The system will be sanitized in four hours at which time the system should be drained using the faucets and then refilled with fresh water.

Flush system by draining the tank again.Fresh water can be added to the tank by using a hose.

Make sure the dockside water supply is suitable for drinking. Since not all dockside water is not drinkable, check with marina personnel.

Overboard Vent: The overboard vent located on the deck is designed to relieve the air that is displaced by the water added to the water supply tank. As the tank nears full it is possible that water will be forced out of the vent. This should be considered normal. The screen on the vent should be occasionally inspected for inscets or spider webs, etc. Blockage of this vent can cause the water tank to fill slowly or in extreme cases to blow water back out the fill tube.

Fresh Water Pressure Pump: Your Commodore features a water pressure pump. It is important not to operate the pump unless there is water in the fresh water tank. The pump is controlled by a switch on the DC side of the AC/DC panel. Energizing the switch allows the pump to build the water pressure in the distribution lines to 35 psi’s.

When the pump reaches a level of 35 psi the pump should automatically shut off. If the system drops below a certain pressure then the pressure water pump will restart.

If the pump cycles on and off while no water being used, a leak in the water system is likely. Do

CAUTION NEVER

USING THE DOCKSIDE WATER HOOKUP.

Hot/Cold Washdown:

IF A LINE RUPTURES OR OTHER LEAKS DEVELOP,

Your Commodore features a hot and cold transom shower washdown. Note that the faucet controls are marked red for hot and blue for cold. A sprayer with sufficient hose is located in the faucet center.

Accumulator Tank: This tank supplies pressure to the water system during times of increased demands such as showering.

It looks like a propane tank but holds pressurized air and water. The tank features a tire type valve for filling and checking the recommended air pressure.

Dockside Water Inlet: Located in the transom shore power cabinet is the dockside water inlet. It allows an outside water supply to be connected to the inlet pressure valve by a hose. The purpose of the regulator is to allow only water pressures up to 35 psi’s to enter the boat.

This feature bypasses the boat’s fresh water tank, filter, and pump which won’t effect on board water supplies. It also eliminates excessive water pressure from bursting water lines and causing leaks in the boat’s water system.

LEAVE THE BOAT UNATTENDED WHILE

EXCESS WATER IN THE BILGE COULD DAMAGE THE ENGINES OR OTHER BOAT COMPONENTS. THE EXCESS WATER COULD SINK YOUR BOAT!

Monitor System: Your Commodore features a water level monitor system. The system includes a sender in the water tank and a gauge. The breaker must be “on” in order for the monitor system to work. Activating the upper rocker switch section indicates the fresh water storage tank level. Activating the lower rocker switch section indicates the waste storage tank level.

Hot Water Heater: The hot water heater features an eleven gallon capacity and has recirculating ability to keep water warm during cruising. This is accomplished by a set of hoses connected between the hot water tank and the circulating engine water pump. Engine coolant runs through a heat exchanger which keeps the tank water warm when the engines are running.

To initially fill the hot water heater, ensure the boat’s fresh water tank is full. When the tank is full water will be ejected from the deck vent. At the DC side of the main ship’s AC/DC panel, turn the fresh water pump to the “on” position. Make sure the water heater is full of water by opening a hot water faucet until a steady stream flows out. With the generator running or the shore power connected, switch on the hot water heater at the AC side of

the ship’s service panel. The heating element will now begin to heat the hot water tank.

Should the hot water heater reset button need resetting, turn off the hot water breaker at the AC side of the AC/DC panel first. Then remove the panel cover to expose the reset button. Press the red reset button. After refastening the access panel, flip on the hot water breaker to continue the systems operation. Should the need arise there is a drain valve located in the rear of the heater. Make sure the water is cold before attempting to open the valve. Never try to adjust the thermostat before turning off the AC breaker and disconnecting the shore power cord.

Overboard Discharge Pump: The overboard discharge pump option (macerator) circuit breaker switch is located on the DC control panel. The macerator pulls the waste from the holding tank, grinds the waste into small particles, and pumps the waste overboard through the hull opened seacock when the key switch on the level monitor is turned to the“on” position.

Vacuflush Toilet: Waste System: The waste tank has a deck fitting marked waste.

When the monitor system indicates that the system is near full it must be emptied. Most marinas use a pump out system that connects to this waste fitting.

The system vacuums the waste up through the waste fitting into a storage tank.

Do not overfill your waste holding tank.

Overfilling a waste tank could plug the vent or rupture the tank. To empty the waste tank, locate a dockside Chapter 6

The vacuflush head (3880/3860 option) uses a combination of vacuum suction and water flow from the fresh water tank to clear the head of waste.

Before using the vacu-flush system turn the head circuit breaker to the “on” position at the DC main panel.

Make sure that there is always a small amount of water left in the toilet head bowl. This acts as a trap and will reduce unwanted odors.

flush the head for at least 10 seconds. This ensures that waste has cleared the sanitation transfer hose and has entered the holding tank.

Waste left within the transfer hose tends to dry out and harden. This could restrict the internal size of the hose and hamper future operation. The system components including the hose are formulated for the transfer of sanitary waste only. Do not allow the following items in the system: Strong acid or caustics such as drain openers, petroleum solvents or fuels, alcohol based products such as antifreeze and pine oil products along with sanitary napkins and baby diapers.

System vacuum is monitored by a switch located on the outside of the vacuum generator’s tank. When the switch senses a vacuum drop, it automatically signals the pump to energize and bring the vacuum back to the operating level.

This is normally a two minute process. In a properly operating system, the stored vacuum will “leak” down between flushes, causing the vacuum pump to run for a short period. This is normal. The pump should not run for more than once every (3) hours after the last flush.

Refer to the materials supplied by the manufacturer of the vacuflush head in the owner’s document box.

Shower Sump Pump: The shower sump pump consists of a box housing, an automatic pump and strainer which routes shower water. When water within the shower pump reaches a predetermined level the automatic switch will engage the pump and discharge the sump water.

Winter Lay-Up: These instructions are found in Chapter 8 of this manual.

CAUTION THE FRESH WATER AND WASTE SYSTEMS INCLUDING THE WATER HEATER AND HEAT EXCHANGER MUST BE WINTERIZED PRIOR TO WINTER LAY-UP.

FAILURE TO WINTERIZE THE WATER AND WASTE SYSTEMS COULD LEAD TO DAMAGED PIPES, VALVES, FAUCETS, TANKS OR A RUPTURED WATER HEATER.

Water/Waste Monitor Panel The water/waste panel features a key switch which directs the macerator (option) to pump the waste overboard via the discharge seacock located in the bilge. You must be outside the 3 mile limit of the United States to pump waste overboard. Failure to open the seacock could result in a fractured hose due to excessive line pressure. The key switch does not need to be activated when the deck waste fitting is used for pump out purposes at a pump out station.

Refrigerator:

Cabin Safety Latches: Many of your boat’s cabin storage doors feature safety closures. To activate the positive latch feature simply press the center knob until the assembly clicks. This locks the closure. To deactivate, again press the center knob inward and it will automatically release.

Typical Dinette Table: To use as a table simply insert the taller leg and tighten the knob securely located under the table. To utilize the convertible sleeper feature use the shorter leg assembly. Be sure the leg is inserted completely in the floor pedestal. Add the table cushion and fasten in place. Use soap and water to clean the table surface.

Stove: The stove is a dual burner electric variety utilizing 120/240 volts AC. To operate, turn the stove breaker located at the ship’s AC/DC service panel to the “on” position. Then push the desired burner knob down to clear the safety lock and turn counter clockwise to the desired setting. An indicator light notes that one or both burners are on. Never leave the stove unattended while cooking. Use a cooking pan that fits the diameter of the burner. Be sure the pan sits on the burner surface flat. For cleaning everyday types of spills and residue use a damp cloth. For burned on Chapter 7

residue use a scouring pad. For further information, consult the stove informaation located in the owner’s document box.

Refer to the Chapter 4 electrical section for the refrigerator operation. Also, see the owner’s document box.

Microwave: Your microwave oven operates on 120 volts A.C. being usable from both shore power and optional generator power.The unit features a universal touch pad control for ease of operation. To operate, make sure the microwave circuit breaker located at the AC/ DC panel is in the “on” position. Read the owner’s guide before attempting to operate the unit. Never use metal dishes, utensils, or foils in the unit. They may cause electrical arcing.

Use only cooking utensils approved for microwaves.

Familiarize yourself with the cooking and safety information in the owner’s guide. Use a damp cloth to remove food stains and residue while they are fresh. Clean the outside unit with a mild detergent and water. Wipe with a dry cloth. Use only a damp soft cloth to clean the control panel unit.

Stereo System: The stereo system features a CD player, and upgraded speakers. See the owner’s document box for additional information.

Icemaker:

Water/Waste Monitor: The water-waste gauge operates on 12 volts DC power. There is a sender located in the water and waste tanks that transmit signals to the head.

To read either tank capacity simply depress the corresponding switch and the display head will light indicating that tank’s level. There is a key switch for waste discharge. Pump out the waste tank when full. For further information refer to the owner’s document box and chapter 6 regarding the optional overboard discharge pump.

Refer to the Chapter 4 electrical section regarding the optional ice maker operation.

Electronics: In reference to the Raytheon electronics package, please read the literature carefully on each component. If you are selecting your own electronics package, consult a marine professional or your Regal dealer for equipment recommendations and installation information.

Power Helm Seat: To energize the optional power helm seat fore and aft locate the switch on the switch panel. In addition, the 4460 seat includes a switch for up and down movement.

Cabin Entrance Door: The cabin entrance on selected models feature a screen door . Note that the screen door must be closed along with the entrance door to achieve a water tight door seal.

Chapter 7

To install the bimini top, unzip the top boot and remove it from the bimini top. Store it for future use. Unroll the canvas and install the narrow zippered canvas piece in the plastic track found at the forward edge of the radar arch. Pull the canvas assembly back toward the radar arch.

Attach the bimini canvas to the zippered narrow section and zip it closed. Now pull the bimini canvas assembly forward attaching the center nylon strap to the windshield clip.

Adjust the nylon strap as needed to tighten the bimini bow assembly. It may require two people for this operation. Install the side curtains and windscreen by attaching the canvas to all the zippers first and then engaging the snaps.

With the camper canvas assembly, install it first to the rear radar arch plastic track. Pull the canvas assembly aft, attach the extension tubes to the clips located on the deck and install the locking pins. Attach the remaining canvas parts to the zippers and attach to deck snaps.

Swivel Seat Operation Seat slider is featured on various models. It is located under the forward side of the helm seat.

Follow the diaphragm below to rotate or move the seat fore and aft. See the maintenance section for adjustment information.

Anchor Windlass The windlass if equipped is used when anchoring. It features a chain and anchor. There are dual operating controls. One set of controls is on the foredeck. They are called foot controls.

These foot controls operate the anchor up or down by stepping on the foot button and work independently of the dash windlass switch. The other control is a two way toggle switch located on the dash panel featuring a red lock-out button.

Note that the lock-out button in the “off ” position prevents the windlass from accidentally letting the anchor out. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the windlass owner’s manual before attempting to operate it. Be sure to keep all body parts and loose clothing clear of the chain and gipsy to avoid Chapter 7

personal injury. The windlass should not be the only means of releasing the anchor. Never use the windlass under power with the emergency handle inserted into the clutch nut or gypsy cap.

Before maintenance is performed, remove the chain from the gypsy and rope from the drum.

Use only chain and spare parts as recommended by the manufacturer. Refer to your owners manual, contact a marine professional or your Regal dealer.

To aid maneuverability, we recommend that the vessel’s engines are running when lifting the anchor. When mooring stern to a dock, drop the anchor at the required distance from the dock and gently ease off the gipsy clutch just enough to allow the chain to run out under the influence of the stern of the vessel. Maintain sufficient chain tension to control the vessel and prevent the bow from swinging. By engaging the clutch, the anchor chain can be used as a brake for the vessel as it approaches the dock. After securing the chain to a bollard use the boat engines in reverse as needed to break the anchor free instead of using the windlass.

Periodically spray down the outer casting of the anchor windlass. In salt water usage it may be necessary to disassemble the gipsy pawl and drum to clean.

Access to the windlass control box and solenoids is located behind the v-berth television cabinet (4460). On the 3860 & 3880 the solenoids are located in the forward deck anchor locker. Refer to the owner’s document box for maintenance information or the illustration on the following page.

Note that the anchor features a safety lanyard that must be released for the anchor to be operated through the windlass controls.

Bow Thrusters-General Bow thrusters are available as optional equipment on the 3860, 3880, and 4460. Their purpose is to provide quick bursts of energy during docking and anytime close maneuvering is necessary.

4. If applicable, use silicone grease on the propshaft to prevent mineral build-up. See owner’s manual.

5. Check any fasteners periodically for tightness.

6. Never run the unit out of water unless specified in the owner’s manual.

7. Always disconnect power to the thruster when performing any maintenance.

8. Make sure any cables are tight and free of corrosion periodically.

9. On units with dual propellers in the event they are removed for service be sure to reinstall the proper rotation propeller on the unit. Units with 2 propellers should be marked LH or RH on the propeller.

10. If applicable, change the drive unit oil annually.

On Max Power thrusters there is a 3 amp fuse located behind the dash panel. Also, located on the foward bulkhead in the engine compartment a 325 ampere fuse protects the current carrying wires to the thruster.

Volvo thrusters use a single 325 ampere fuse located on the forwardd bulkhead in the engine compartment.

They use a 12 volt dash control panel that allows the unit to be powered up and then distributes thrust to the port or starboard side depending on which control is activated. There is a red light or indicator for port and green light or indicatior for starboard operation.

Unlike standard engines all bow thrusters operate on 12 volt battery power similar to trolling motors.

Following are important points with regards to the operation and maintenance of bow thrusters.

1. Check the propeller(s) periodically for dings, straightness & fish line on the propshaft behind the propellers.

2. Change the zinc anode at least annually or at 40% of its life to help protect the unit from electrolysis.

3. Be sure to paint all outside surfaces annually with anti-fouling paint ( Do not paint the anode). See the thruster owner’s manual.

Spotlight:

Air Conditioner Operation:

The remote spotlight rotates up to 360 degrees.

The directional buttons are found at the dash panel.

The light also moves up and down approximately 60 degrees.

To activate the spotlight, flip on the dash switch.

By pressing two buttons at the same time you can r un up-down and left-right functions simultaneously. A reset breaker for the spotlight is located on the dash.

1) To use either air conditioner, locate and open the thru-hull seacock valve that supplies water to the air conditioner pump.The seacock is typically located in the sump area. Failure to open the seacocks could result in an overheat condition, a/c motor damage and possible system shut down.

Air Conditioner - General: The marine air conditioning system information outlined in this section applies only to factory installed equipment.

The air conditioner relies upon a source of AC power (supplied by dockside or optional generator) and a supply of sea water (salt or fresh). The AC unit has the potential to produce heat in the reverse cycle mode.

This reverse cycle operation is affected by the temperature of the sea water. As sea water temperature decreases so does the unit’s ability to produce reverse heat. The manufacturer has recommended that the reverse mode not be used when the sea water temperature is below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.

Chapter 7

2) A strainer is installed between the seacock and the AC pump. This strainer stops foreign matter from being ingested into the AC pump or air conditioning units.

Inspect and clean this strainer prior to using the pump.

3) The breakers that control the current to the air conditioning unit and the pump are located on the main A/C panel and are marked forward and aft air conditioners. If you are using shore power as an AC source, you must attach the SHORE #1 & 2 power cords to the dockside power source. If you are using a generator for AC power, it will automatically supply power to SHORE #1 and SHORE #2 panels.

4) Turn the MAIN breaker for SHORE #1 to the “ON” position. Turn the fwd. or aft air conditioner panel breaker to the “ON” position at the same time you activate the A/C relay. This will ensure the proper water to the compressor via the system water pump.

5) Turn the control panel power button to the “ON” position.See the illustration on the following page for a system overview. Set the desired cabin temperature. Check for a steady stream of water from the overboard discharge.

Chapter 8 General Maintenance Engines &Transmissions: The engine & transmission package on your vessel requires specific periodic maintenance.

Refer to your manufacturer’s owner’s manual and contact your closest Regal dealer for information.

There are in-line water strainers for each engine. These strainers must be opened, cleaned and checked periodically. A clogged strainer will restrict the intake of sea water which could lead to an overheated engine. Engine & transmission fluid levels need to checked at periodic intervals.

Generator: Read and become familiar with the generator owner’s manual. It provides a variety of operational, safety and troubleshooting information.

The output voltage under a full load can be easily checked by observing the AC voltage meter found on the AC/DC panel. The output voltage should be between 120 volts AC (60 hertz-US), and 240 volts AC at 50 hertz (International).

Voltages outside these specifications could indicate a generator malfunction.

Make sure all fluid levels are checked before starting the generator. Check to make sure the generator seacock is on and the sea water strainer is cleaned periodically.

When starting the generator remember the generator on switch provides power to the start circuit. The start switch energizes the solonoid and starter which cranks the engine. Make sure both the on switch and the start switch are depressed or the generator will not start.

Chapter 8

The generator features an automatic shut down system of sensors controlling high exhaust temperature, high water, low oil pressure, and high RPM. If one of these sensors engages, the generator will shut down. The source of the problem then needs to be determined. Use the owner’s manual troubleshooting section as a reference.

There is a fuel filter at the carburetor that periodically needs cleaning. Refer to the owner’s manual.

Disconnect the battery cables before doing any generator maintenance. Inspect and clean the carburetor flame arrestor periodically by blowing off with compressed air.

Inspect all fuel system fittings for leakage periodically. Be sure proper ventilation is present when servicing the fuel system components.

Inspect all water and heat exchanger fittings often for leaks. Repair or replace components as needed.

Be sure the generator is completely cold before performing any maintenance on the generator water system due to possible hot water and or antifreeze filled components. Be sure to catch and properly dispose of any antifreeze coolant. Refer to the generator owner’s manual regarding antifreeze recommendations for type and mixture concentrations.

There is a zinc anode located in the raw water part of the heat exchanger. Check it periodically for proper condition. Refer to the owner’s manual for determining replacement status. It is self sacrificing thereby reducing the effects of electrolysis to the generator water system.

Check the drive belt deflection with the generator stopped. At the longest span, push down at the center. You should see a movement of 3/8 to 1/2 inch. Refer to the generator manual for more information.

When refilling the crankcase follow the specifications given in theengine owner’s manual.

Dispose properly of used oil. Change the oil every 50 hours of operation.

Rudder Stuffing Boxes The engine compartment contains moving machinery. Inspect your rudder stuffing boxes ONLY when the engines are not running.

Check each stuffing box every month; it is not normal for seepage between shaft and packing glands. Tighten the packing nut ONLY ENOUGH to stop any seepage.

Propellers: Out-of-balance or nicked props will effect performance or cause vibration. Damaged props should be replaced, but those that are chipped or bent can usually be reconditioned by a marine dealer or a propeller repair facility.

When cruising, consider carrying a spare set of props onboard because many marinas do not inventory many replacement propellers.

Since the original propellers were a matched diameter and pitch, replacements need to be the same. Carry a swim mask onboard so while in the water you can inspect your props, shafts, and hull bottom. Be sure to make a note of the propeller diameter and pitch. They are pressed into the bronze prop for easy reading.

Transfer the numbers to your owner’s manual information sheet in Chapter 1.

Propshaft Seal Assembly: The shaft seal unit is located just in front of the engine where the output shaft exits the hull.

Notice there is a hose connected to the top of the seal housing. Check periodically to make sure there is water circulating through the hose when the engines are running. After testing, reconnect the hose and tighten the clamp securely. The shaft seal manufacturer recommends checking this hose periodically. With this system, there should be no seepage at the packin gland. See illustration below.

Batteries:

Check the electrolyte level at least every 30 days, more often in hot weather. The level should be maintained between the top of the battery plates and the bottom of the fill cap opening. Add distilled water as needed after charging the batteries. Do not overfill because sulfuric acid could run over and cause burns or an explosion.

Batteries should be charged outside the boat.

Do not smoke or bring flames near a battey that is being or has recently been charged. The hydrogen gas generated by battery charging is highly explosive.

Set batteries on a block of wood rather than concrete since this procedure will help the batteries from losing their charge.

Do not allow a metal object or loose wires to spark across battery posts while working close to the battery. Contact across terminals will cause a short circuit and electrical burns or personal injury may result.

Tighten all battery connectors securely. Check their tightness by pulling on the connectors. They should not move from their tightened position.

While using the boat, use the volt meters to monitor the charge level of each battery bank.

Monitor the charge with the engines turned off (static condition).

Use the onboard battery charger or the engine alternator to recharge the batteries. A fully charged battery will indicate between 12.3 and 12.6 volts on the voltmeter. Readings below this could indicate a dead battery cell or a charging system malfunction which should be checked by a marine professional.

Frequently check your battery terminals for corrosion build-up. If you find a greenish, powdery substance, remove the cable connections and clean both the both the terminals and the connectors with a wire brush. When the cleaning is finished reconnect the battery cables and coat the terminal with an approved grease or petroleum jelly to help prevent corrosion build-up.

Electrolysis Protection: As the owner of the vessel, you have the responsibility to periodically inspect and replace the sacrificial zinc anodes. Damage resulting from galvanic corrosion is not covered by Regal warranty.

Sacrificial zinc anodes usually found on shafts, rudders, and trim tabs protect the hardware that is exposed to the water. Electrolysis attacks the softest or least noble metals first. Because zinc is a less noble metal, it will decompose before other metals. Check these zinc anodes twice a month and have them replaced as required. See your dealer for parts and service and your engine manual for more information.

Zinc is also used to protect metal that is exposed to saltwater. The salt causes a galvanic action that decomposes metals. Zinc anodes in saltwater need to be checked more frequently.

Fire Extinguishing System: The fire extinguisher system canister located in the sump should be checked to make sure the hold down brackets are tight. The canister features a gauge that displays the level of agent left. The gauge should show a level in the green area. Any reading in the red area needs immediate attention or replacement. The dash monitor switch should show a green light indicating all systems are in the correct operation.

Air Conditioner: It is a good idea to inspect the thru-hull fitting for leaks before each outing and to make sure the seacocks are open. Also, the sea water strainer located in the bilge should be checked for foreign objects clogging the strainer. Unscrew the seacock fasteners, remove the wire strainer, and clean it as needed. Reinstall the strainer, make sure the gasket on the top of the seacock is centered, and tighten the fasteners. Check for leaks since sucking air into the system could cause the seawater pump to malfunction.

The air conditioner filter may be located in the return air grill framework or in some cases, on the a/c unit itself. Inspect the filter once monthly.

To clean the filter remove it and rinse with clean water.

WARNING ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD. DISCONNECT THE MAIN PANEL VOLTAGE BEFORE OPENING ANY COVER. FAILURE TO COMPLY MAY RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH.

Remote Controls: The remote controls at the dash control box and the cable attachment at the engine should be tight and shift without binding.

Shift and throttle controls at both the engine and helm areas must be checked on a periodic basis. At the engine end, make sure all control cable hardware is tight and control cable brackets are secure. An application of silicone spray on the cable ends periodically will keep control cables working freely and Chapter 8

Check the hose output located on the hull side insuring there is a full discharge when the a/c pump is running. If there is little or no discharge shutdown the unit and find the cause of the problem.

For decommissioning and troubleshooting, refer to the owner’s manual or contact a marine professional or Regal dealer.

Steering System: The steering system should be checked frequently. Periodically have the helm unit checked for leaks and hose tightness. Contact your nearest Regal dealer for further information.

Check all the rudder parts for tightness. This includes all related tie bars and rudder collar connections. Inspect all related packing nuts, cotter keys, nuts and bolts for wear.

There is a fill plug located in the helm unit for filling the steering system as needed; check for fluid leaks and loose hoses at this time. Filling the unit improperly could cause air in the system and possible loss of steering. Contact a marine professional or Regal dealer. The system uses a special hydraulic fluid and is filled at the factory. It should not need oil unless there is a leak. There is a large plug located on the top of the helm. The steering cylinder has bleed screws located on the cylinder in the engine room. Hyunautic Steering Fluid PN MCO-01 is the recommended oil. Shell Oil Tellis 15, Texaco # 15, or Exxon Univis # 14 are alternatives. In an emergency, Dextron II can be used to add fluid to a low system. If the system is using fluid it requires immediate attention from a Marine professional.

A periodic inspection of all hoses and connections should be made. Each rudder has a stuffing box that seals against water entering the boat. Should the need arise, the collar on the rudder stuffing box can be adjusted to eliminate leakage.

The steering cylinder has a zerk type fitting that is used to lubricate the pivot of the steering cylinder.

CAUTION ABRUPT TURNS ABOVE 30 MPH MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL. STEERING RESPONSE AT HIGH SPEEDS CAN BE VERY SUDDEN. ABRUBT TURNS MAY CAUSE YOU TO CROSS YOUR OWN WAKE. JUMPING A BOAT WAKE AT HIGH SPEEDS MAY CAUSE INJURY TO PASSENGERS AND DAMAGE TO YOUR BOAT.

SUDDEN TURNS AND INCREASES OR DECREASES IN SPEEDS MAY CAUSE INJURY TO PASSENGERS.

THE DRIVER MUST MAKE SURE THAT ALL PASSENGERS ARE SECURE BEFORE MAKING SPEED CHANGES.

Trim Tabs: Trim refers to the running angle of the boat while underway to achieve the most efficient planning angle. Check all electrical connections for tightness, corrosion, and chafing. All mechanical trim tab components should be checked periodically. If a malfunctioning tab is suspected, run each tab in and out while someone looks at each tab to make sure it is moving up and down the proper distance. Replace zinc anodes when at one half their life as determined by size. Check anodes twice a month.

Check the fluid in the hydraulic power unit (HPU) to make sure it is at the proper level. The pump is located in the bilge close to the transom. To refill, remove the lexan cover and filler plug. Fill with any type automatic transmission fluid (ATF). The fluid level should be 2" from the reservoir bottom.

The trim tabs may be painted for corrosion protection. Do not paint the anodes. Refer to the owner’s document box for more information.

Hot Water Heater: The hot water heater is located in the bilge.

The system uses a heat exchanger so you can shower without shore power or generator. All hoses should be checked periodically for leaks and chafing since any hose leaks can effect the engine cooling process.

Several of the connections are of the threaded type. You can check these with your hand for tightness.

Periodically operate the pressure relief valve located at the back of the water heater. Make sure the water heater is cool before performing the above procedure.

Flush out the water heater at least annually.

There is a plug located on the back of the unit.

Ground Fault Outlets: The GFI outlets should be tested monthly. To test them, depress the reset button. Then press the test button. The reset button should pop out.

If it doesn’t, contact a qualified electrician or marine professional.

Bilge Pumps: Check for foreign materials stuck in the strainer area or discharge hose. This require a visual inspection process. Both pumps are located in the keel area of the boat.

Check all clamps and electrical connections for tightness. A quick check of the bilge pump automatic float switch is afforded by lifting up on the float and listening for the pump operating.

Look around the float area for foreign debris and remove as necessary.

Anchor Windlass:

Carbon Monoxide Detector:

The most important maintenance especially for salt water environments is to spray off the outside casting with fresh water. This prevents damaging corrosion build up. Thewindlass manufacturer recommends that the gypsy and drum be disassembled at least once a year and cleaned as needed.

Make sure the gear housing is not leaking oil.

Fill as needed with SAE 90 weight oil. Replace any necessary seals.

Check all solenoids and relay box terminals for tightness and corrosion. On the 4160 they are located behind the V-berth television cabinet.On the 3760 and 3780 they are located under the port and starboard bow hatches. Refer to the windlass owner’s manual for additional information.

We strongly recommend that you fully acquaint yourself with the total operation of the C0 detector since it does measure accumulated levels. Normal maintenance should include frequent checking for the green power light glowing with the warning indicator and audible horn off.

Each detector should be returned to the manufacturer each year for recertification. Refer to the owner’s document box and chapter 1 for more information.

The CO detectors are located in the salon, forward and aft berths. See the illustration on the next page.

Bottom Paint (option): Check to make sure there is no algae or barnacle growth on the hull. In salt water areas it may be required to pull the boat and scrape the bottom periodically or divers can accomplish the task. Be sure not to paint seacocks since it could affect their electrolysis capability.

Touch up any scraped or abraded areas to keep growth from attaching to them.Contact your nearest Regal dealer for more information.

Hardware: TYPICAL (CO) CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR

Overboard Discharge Pump, Macerator (option): Do not pump garbage, rags, or sanitary napkins through the overboard discharge pump (macerator).

Flush the waste tank and pump with fresh water with each pump out. Do not run the pump dry or for extended periods of time since the impeller can be damaged. Pump the waste system out at decommissioning time and flush w/ fresh water.

Grey Water System: This system routes all used water discharges to the holding tank via a collector box and the shower sump pump. All the sink drains run directly to the shower sump box. The water then travels to a collector box . Lift the shower sump box float switch and check for obstructions. Do not discharge garbage and food remains down the drain as they may clog up the grey water system.

Inspect all mounted hardware often for tightness and deteriorated fasteners. Pay close attention to cleats and lifting eyes since they can be subjected to heavy loads.

Swivel Seat Adjustment: To obtain optimum fit between post and seat swivel the following procedures should be followed: 1. Place seat swivel on pedestal post.

2. Tighten adjustment bolt by using a 10 mm wrench until swivel will not rotate on post. Then back bolt off 1/2 turn. This will insure the proper clearance between the seat swivel and post.

3. Periodically you should retighten the bolt to keep proper clearance between the seat swivel and post.

Fresh Water System:

Winterization: Special preparations are needed to prevent and protect damage to your boat during winter storage.

IMPORTANT: Your warranty does not cover damage to your boat if it is not properly stored and winterized. We recommend that you check with a marine professional or your Regal dealer about winterization procedures.

1. Turn on the fresh water pump switch.

2. Open all faucets including transom shower and allow tank to empty.

3. Drain the water heater; shut off water pump switch.

4. Mix non-toxic antifreeze with water in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Engines & Generator:

5. Pour solution into the fresh water tank.

Have your dealer or marina winterize your boat engines and generator. All water must be replaced with a marine antifreeze solution; mix antifreeze according to directions for the lowest expected temperature. Refer to the manufacturer’s manual for off season decommissioning procedures.

6. Turn on fresh water pump switch.

7. Open each cold water faucet one by one beginning with the one furthest away from the tank and purge the system until a steady stream flows from the faucet.

Then close the faucet.

8. Repeat step 7 for hot water faucets.

Fuel System: Fill the fuel tank to minimize condensation but do not overfill. Leave enough space for fuel to expand and add a gasoline/fuel stabilizer to fuel prior to storage following the manufacturer’s recommended procedures.

9. Shut off water pump switch.

10. Pour a quart of antifreeze into shower drain. Run the shower pump until a steady stream flows from the discharge fitting.

11. Leave at least 2 gallons of antifreeze solution in the holding tank during storage.

Batteries: Check the battery electrolyte level. Store in a cool, dry place. Monthly recharging or continuous trickle charging insures your batteries life during storage. Before attempting to charge the batteries, remove them from the boat and charge them in a well ventilated area.

Air Conditioning:

Waste/Vacuflush System: 1. Pump out waste holding tank, flush the tank with fresh water and pump out again.

1. Open seacock and allow water to drain if boat is out of the water. Clean out the seacock and close it.

2. With antifreeze in fresh water tank operate head until antifreeze flows into bowl of head.

Allow time between flushes for the vaccum to build up.

2. Open top of strainer and fill with antifreeze solution.

3. Operate macerator (if equipped) until antifreeze has a steady flow coming from the discharge fitting. Pour antifreeze solution in head and flush the head as needed to produce enough flow to winterize the macerator.

4. Leave at least 2 gallons of antifreeze solution in the holding tank during storage.

3. Operate air conditioning pump refilling sea strainer with antifreeze as the level goes down.

4. Continue to operate pump until antifreeze flows out of thru-hull fitting.

5. Shut off air conditioning pump and install the sea strainer top.

6. Check all fasteners for proper tightness.

Chapter 9 Cosmetic Care

For maximum life, keep the vessel covered with a canvas or other covering when not in use.

Vinyl Upholstery:

Metal:

Cockpit and interior vinyl require periodic cleaning to maintain a neat appearance and to prevent the build up of dirt and contaminants that may stain and reduce the vinyl life if they are not removed. The frequency of cleaning depends on the amount of use and conditions to which the vinyl is subjected.

Most common stains can be cleaned using warm, soapy water and clear rinses. Scrubbing with a soft bristle brush will help loosen soiled material from embossed surfaces and under welting. If the stains are not removed with the above method use a mild cleaner such as Fantastic.This cleaner should be used only as needed and not the normal means.

With more stubborn stains, rubbing alcohol or mineral spirits may be tried cautiously. Widespread solvent use can severely damage or discolor vinyl. Try to remove stains immediately before they penetrate the surface of the vinyl, especially suntan products.

Powdered abrasives, steel wool, or industrial strength cleaners are not recommended for cleaning our vinyl. Lacquer solvents will cause immediate damage. Dilute chlorine bleach before using. Do not wax the vinyl as it may cause cracking. Always wear protective gloves and make sure there is sufficient ventilation when cleaning vinyl. Wear eye protection.

Remember that suntan oil will damage vinyl. Use suntan lotion instead of suntan oil. Exposure to the sun is a natural enemy of vinyl upholstery.

Keep all stainless steel and other metal parts rinsed and wiped dry. To maintain their finish annually polish the stainless steel and other bright works. Use commercially available metal products and read the labels carefully before use. Refer to the flyer in the owner’s document box.

USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN WALKING ON GELCOAT. USE HAND & BOW RAILS. Routine maintenance is the only practical way to keep the surface of your boat looking shiny and new. Most objects left outdoors will gradually deteriorate from exposure to the sun, water, dust and pollution. Such outdoor exposure can cause your boat’s gelcoated surface to change or fade. Darker colors tend to fade more rapidly than lighter colors because they absorb more of the sun’s rays (ultraviolet and infrared).

Basic maintenance includes monthly washing of the boat’s surface to remove normal accumulation of soil and stain. Use a mild detergent such as dishwashing powder or liquid. Do not use automatic dishwasher detergent. Avoid any kind of alkaline cleaners such as tri-sodium phosphate (TSP), abrasives, bleaches and amChapter 9

It is recommended that you wax the gelcoat surface twice yearly to prevent loss of gloss and to protect the finish. Use only waxes for fiberglass and follow the label instructions.

Apply a 3' x 3' section at a time using clean applicator cloths or a buffing bonnet. When a haze develops, use a power buffer at low speeds (1200-2000 rpm) to remove the haze. Keep the buffer moving to avoid heat build-up. The power buffer is very efficient at removing contaminants from gelcoat. Never wax gelcoat in the direct sun.

When the washing and waxing as recommended does not restore the shine it may be necessary to use a fine rubbing compound. Do not apply rubbing compound in direct sunlight.

A power buffer at low speed does an excellent job to remove impurities from the gel coat that cause dulling. Use light pressure and keep the buffer moving. Re-wax after compounding to buff the surface. Be sure to tape over any graphics while buffing to prevent damage due to heat & abrasion. You can purchase a blue painting tape at hardware that works great for buffing.

“Hairline cracks” or “spider webbing” could develop in the gelcoat surface of a hull

or deck. This can be caused by impact or other factors. Small air pockets or gouges may also occur through normal wear. These do not affect the strength of the hull or deck and can be repaired by yourself, a marine professional or a Regal dealer.

The affected area should be chipped or sanded away and a thin layer of color matched gelcoat applied. This layer is then sanded smooth and buffed to its original luster.

Most minor scratches, nicks, and dents can be removed by compounding the surface. Marine type compounds can be found at most auto body supply stores. Specify a number 25 which is a coarser compound up to a number 55 being less coarse. Various glazes and polishes are available as needed. Ask your marine professional or Regal dealer for more information.

Fiberglass hulls are strong but they can be damaged. A fiberglass hull has virtually no internal stresses. Thus when a part is broken or punctured, the rest of the hull retains its original shape.

A severe blow will either be absorbed or result in a definite localized break. A break of this nature should be checked and repaired by a marine professional or a Regal dealer.

4. In a separate container, measure only the amount of gelcoat you will need. Mix a ratio of 2% ratio of catalyst to the amount of gelcoat being used ( a spoonful of gelcoat will require only a drop or two of catalyst).

Do not pour any unused portions of the gelcoat/catalyst mixture back into either original container.

5. Apply gelcoat to area leaving a slight lift above the surface.

You will need the following materials for minor repairs:

polish and a finish wax. You may notice a difference between the repaired area and the original finish due to the natural weathering prcess.

Leather: Genuine leather is a natural product. Cattle encounter a variety of elements during their life on the range. These encounters leave scratches and scares on the hide which do not effect the performance of the finished product but which do serve as conclusive proof that this is genuine leather.

Leather is the easiest of all upholstery material to maintain if cared for properly and regularly. Dirt and spills must be cleaned immediately. To clean, wash with a soft cloth dampened in a solution of non-detergent soap and water.

Wipe dry with a soft clean cloth. Dust and dirt allowed to work it’s way into the leather will destroy the finish. Never use caustic household chemicals. Never use cleaners or conditioners containing alcohol, petroleum distillates, waxes or silicones. Failure to maintain the leather will void the warranty.

Interior Fabrics: Clean flat good interior fabrics with dry cleaning fluid style cleaners approved for use with soft fabrics. Allow adequate ventilation and follow the label instructions carefully. Use a soft cleanser with feldspar to clean stubborn marks or stains on wallpaper. Normal interior vinyl such as the headliner and head need a mild soap and water solution. Rinse immediately with clean water and wipe dry. Always spot test with a cleaner before applying it to a larger area.

Chapter 9

Solid Surface Countertops: Regal has chosen Corian countertop material because of its elegance and durability. Periodic maintenance will enhance its beauty.

Corian withstands heat much better than ordinary countertop materials but you must still use a hot pad or trivet when taking materials directly out of the oven or stove top to protect from damaging the surface. Avoid cutting directly on the surface.

Another feature of Corian countertops is they are non-porous. Therefore, dirt and germs do not penetrate it. Corian will not support the growth of germs and mildew. To disinfect, wipe the surface with diluted household bleach with a ratio of 1 part bleach to 1 part water.

To clean the surface of water marks, wipe it down with soap and water. Towel dry. For stains use soapy water or ammonia based cleaners. You can use a green Scotch-Brite pad to remove stubborn stains.

The Corian is a matte or satin finish. To remove scratches and nicks, sand the surface with 180-220 grit sand paper until the nick is gone.

To restore the finish use an abrasive cleanser and a green Scotch-Brite pad. If you wrap the sandpaper around a block of wood while sanding it will help sand the areas flat instead of creating hills and valleys.

Canvas: Boat canvas is in most cases subjected to more severe punishment than practically any other type of material. Moisture, dirt and chemicals from industrial fallout, heat, ultraviolet rays and salt water are all factors which accelerate the deterioration of your boat canvas. These elements may cause serious damage.

The boat top and other canvas supplied on your Commodore are manufactured from top quality materials to provide you with years of trouble free service. The following information on the care, cleaning and proper storage of the fabrics and fasteners that make up your marine canvas is being provided to help you maintain the appearance and ease of operation.

Sunbrella is used on most Commodore tops, aft curtains, camper enclosures, bow tonneaus and cockpit covers. Sunbrella is a woven fabric made from 100% solution dyed acrylic fiber. It is color fast and will withstand long term exposure to the sun (ultraviolet rays) without excessive fading.

Cleaning Instructions: Sunbrella should be cleaned regularly before substances such as dirt, roof particles, etc., are allowed to accumulate on and become embedded in the fabric. The fabric can be cleaned without being removed from the boat. Simply brush off any loose dirt, hose down, and clean with a mild solution of natural soap in lukewarm water.

Rinse throughly to remove soap. DO NOT USE DETERGENTS! Allow to air dry.

For heavily soiled fabric, remove the top from the frame. Soak the fabric in a solution that has been mixed to the following proportions.: 1/2 cup of Clorox bleach and 1/4 cup of Ivory or Lux soap (liquid or soap) per each gallon of lukewarm water. Allow the fabric to soak until the bleach has “killed” the mildew and the stains can be brushed out with a common kitchen scrub brush. Rinse the fabric throughly in cold water to remove all the soap. This may require several rinsings. Incomplete rinsing can cause deterioration of sewing threads and prohibit the fabric from being properly retreated. Allow the fabric to dry completely. DO NOT STEAM PRESS

OR DRY IN AN ELECTRIC OR GAS DRYER! Excessive heat can damage and shrink the fabric since it is heat sensitive.

This method of cleaning may remove part of the water and stain repellence that was applied to the fabric during its manufacture. It is recommended to retreat with such water repellency products as Apseal and Uniseal.

We do not recommend any wax based treatments such as Thompson’s Water Seal or any of the silicone products such as SC-15 or Aqua-Tite. Wax based products prevent the fabric from breathing, and encourage mildew growth while the silicone products interact with the original fluorocarbon finish and seem to cause a rapid loss of water repellency. Scotchguard has not been found to be very effective for restoring water repellence to Sunbrella. It seems to work well in the short run, but doesn’t maintain it’s performance very long.

Sunbrella Characteristics: Sunbrella is a woven fabric. Even though it is treated with water repellency some “misting” through the fabric is typical. With new canvas, the greatest potential for leakage is through the sewn seams. Because Sunbrella and the long term thread used is synthetic, the holes created by sewing will not swell up and seal when exposed to water as cotton does. Usually the movement of the fabric in use will move the fibers enough to seal the holes.

You may apply Apseal or Uniseal to the seams to speed up this process.

When the canvas is new, the fit will normally be tight. It is designed this way because Sunbrella stretches as it ages, The initial tight fit allows for a suitable fit for the life of the canvas. The fit Sunbrella will vary slightly in the heat, cold, and rain.

Canvas & Clear Vinyl Care:

Canvas Snap Fastener Care:

Never store canvas wet or in an unventilated, moist area. Always roll the canvas instead of folding. This is of particular importance on side curtains or any other part with the clear vinyl “glass”.

Roll the top carefully around the bows and cover with the storage boot provided.

The clear vinyl “glass” used in side curtains, aft curtains, visors, and camper enclosures is very susceptible to heat and cold. Keep vinyl curtains from touching the metal tubing to minimize burning the vinyl.

If the boat is stored with top, side curtains and aft curtain in place, heat build up inside the boat may discolor the vinyl.

To clean the clear “vinyl” glass, use a solution of Ivory or Lux soap, liquid or flakes, and lukewarm water. Allow to air dry. Never use any type of abrasive cleaner as it will scratch the “vinyl” glass. There are many cleaners and scratch removers on the market specifically for clear vinyl.

Never store the “vinyl” curtains wet or in an unventilated, moist area. Handle the clear curtains carefully. They are soft and prone to scratching.

Canvas snap fasteners should be unsnapped as close to the button as possible. Never remove canvas by pulling roughly on the edge of the material. This can damage the canvas by stressing the material as well as the fasteners. Use petroleum jelly on snaps to keep them from developing corrosion especially in harsh environments.

Canvas Zipper Care: Canvas parts are designed with zippers. When zippers are new they can be a little difficult to use. Zip carefully without forcing the zipper or the material. They will loosen with use. A zipper lubricant may be used to help new zippers as well as maintaining used ones. The most vulnerable part of the zipper is the starts. Use care when starting the zipper.

LIFETIME LIMITED STRUCTURAL HULL WARRANTY: Regal Marine Industries, Inc. warrants to the original retail purchaser of this boat if purchased from an authorized Regal dealer that the selling dealer or Regal will repair or replace the fiberglass hull if it is found to be structurally defective in material or workmanship for as long as the original retail purchaser owns the boat. For purposes of this warranty, the hull is defined as the single fiberglass casting which rests on the water. This limited warranty is subject to all limitations and conditions explained below.

FIVE-YEAR TRANSFERABLE LIMITED STRUCTURAL HULL WARRANTY: In addition to the Lifetime Limited Structural Hull Warranty, Regal offers a Transferable Five-Year Limited Structural Hull Warranty. Under the Five-Year Transferable Limited Structural Hull Warranty, Regal will repair or replace the fiberglass hull if it is found to be structurally defective in material or workmanship within the first (5) years after the date of delivery to the original retail purchaser. Any remaining term of this Five-Year Limited Hull Warranty may be transferred to a second owner if within 60 days of purchase, the new owner registers the transfer with Regal and pays the established warranty transfer fee. FIVE-YEAR LIMITED HULL BLISTER WARRANTY:

Regal will Warrant to the original retail purchaser, any underwater gelcoated surfaces of the hull against laminate blisters which occur as a result of defects in material or workmanship within (5) years of the date of delivery, provided that the original factory gelcoat surface has not been altered. Alternation would include but is not limited to damage repair; excessive sanding, scraping, sandblasting; or from improper surface preparation for application of a marine barrier coating or bottom paint, any of which shall void this Five-Year Limited Hull Blister Warranty. Regal Marine shall repair or cause to be repaired any covered laminate blisters based on the following prorated schedule. Less than two (2) years from delivery date - 100%, Two (2) to three (3) years from delivery date - 75%, Three (3) to four (4) years from delivery date - 50%, Four (4) to five (5) years from delivery date - 25%.

Reimbursement shall be limited to one repair, not to exceed ($80.00) dollars per foot of boat length prior to prorating. Regals prior authorization for the method and cost of repair, must be obtained before repairs are commenced. All costs to transport the boat for repairs are the responsibility of the owner.

LIMITED GENERAL WARRANTY: In addition to above hull warranties, Regal warrants to the original purchaser of this boat if purchased from an authorized dealer that the dealer or Regal will repair or replace any parts found to be defective in materials or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of delivery, subject to all limitations and conditions contained herein.

LIMITED EXTERIOR FINISH WARRANTY: Regal warrants that the selling dealer or Regal will repair cosmetic defects in the exterior gelcoated finish including cracks or crazing reported to Regal within 90 days from the date of delivery to the original purchaser, subject to all limitations and conditions contained herein. All warranty work is to be performed at a Regal dealership or other location authorized by a Regal Customer Service Manager after it is established to Regal's satisfaction that there is a defect in material or workmanship.

CUSTOMER OBLIGATIONS: The following are conditions precedent to the availability of any benefits under these limited warranties: (a) The purchaser must sign and the dealer must submit to Regal the "OWNER REGISTRATION AND SYSTEMS CHECKLIST FORM within ten (10) days of the date of delivery and such information must be on file at Regal. (b) The purchaser must first notify the dealer from whom the boat was purchased of any claim under this warranty within the applicable warranty period and within a reasonable period of time (not to exceed thirty (30) days) after the defect is or should have been discovered. (c) Regal will not be responsible to repair or replace any part, (1) if the use of the boat is continued after the defect is or should have been discovered; and (2) if such continued use causes other or additional damage to the boat or component parts of the boat. (d) Based on the dealer's knowledge of Regal's warranty policy and/or consultations with Regal, the dealer will accept the claim and arrange for appropriate repairs to be performed, or deny the claim if it is not within the warranty. (e) The dealer will contact the Regal boat owner regarding instructions for delivery of boat or part for warranty repair if it is covered by the limited warranty.

ALL COSTS TO TRANSPORT THE BOAT FOR REPAIRS ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER; (f) If the Regal boat owner believes a claim has been denied in error or the dealer has performed the warranty work in an unsatisfactory manner, the owner must notify Regal's Customer Service Department in writing at the address listed for further consideration.

Regal will then review the claim and take appropriate follow-up action.

WARRANTY EXCEPTIONS: THIS LIMITED WARRANTY does not cover and the following are not warranted: (a) Engines, metal plating or finishes, windshield breakage, leakage, fading and deterioration of paints, canvas, upholstery and fabrics; (b) Gelcoat surfaces including, but not limited to, cracking, crazing, discoloration or blistering except as noted above; (c) Accessories and items which were not part of the boat when shipped from the Regal factory, and/or any damage caused thereby; (d) Damage caused by misuse, accident, galvanic corrosion, negligence, lack of proper maintenance, or improper trailering; (e) Any boat used for racing, or used for rental or commercial purposes; (f) Any boat operated contrary to any instructions furnished by Regal, or operated in violation of any federal, state, Coast Guard or other governmental agency laws, rules, or regulations; (g) The limited warranty is void if alterations have been made to the boat; (h) Transportation of boat or parts to and/or from the REGAL factory or service location; (i) Travel time or haul outs, loss of time or inconvenience; (j) Any published or announced catalog performance characteristics of speed, fuel and oil consumption, and static or dynamic transportation in the water; (k) Any boat that has been repowered beyond Regal's power recommendations; (1) Boats damaged by accident and boats damaged while being loaded onto, transported upon or unloaded from trailers, cradles, or other devices used to place boats in water, remove boats from water or store or transport boats on or over land; (m) Water damage to, dry rot to, condensation to, or absorption by interior surfaces, wood structures or polyurethane foam; interior wood including, but not limited to, bleeding and/or discoloration as a result of condensation or moisture or water continually contacting the plywood causing staining to upholstery, carpet or other interior surfaces; (n) Costs or charges derived from inconveniences or loss of use, commercial or monetary loss due to time loss, and any other special, incidental or consequential damage of any kind or nature whatsoever.

WARRANTY EXCEPTIONS: The terms, conditions, limitations and disclaimers contained herein cannot be wavered except by the Customer Service Manager of Regal. Any such wavier must be in writing. Neither the dealer, nor the customer, nor any service, sales and/or warranty representative of Regal is authorized to waive and/or modify these conditions, limitations and/or disclaimers.

GENERAL PROVISIONS: ALL GENERAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL AND/OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARE EXCLUDED FROM THIS WARRANTY AND ARE TOTALLY DISCLAIMED BY REGAL. IT IS THE INTEREST OF THE PARTIES THAT THE OWNER'S SOLE REMEDY IS THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE VESSEL OR ITS ALLEGEDLY DEFECTIVE COMPONENT PARTS AND THAT NO OTHER LEGAL OR EQUITABLE REMEDIES SHALL BE AVAILABLE TO SAID OWNER. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES SO THE FOREGOING MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

THIS IS A LIMITED WARRANTY; REGAL MAKES NO WARRANTY, OTHER THAN CONTAINED HEREIN; TO THE EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARISING IN STATE LAW ARE EXPRESSLY EXCLUDED TO THE EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW. ANY IMPLIEDWARRANTY CHANTABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE PERIOD OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY. ALL OBLIGATIONS OF REGAL ARE SPECIFICALLY SET FORTH HEREIN. REGAL DOES NOT AUTHORIZE ANY PERSON OR DEALER TO ASSUME ANY LIABILITY IN CONNECTION WITH REGAL BOATS. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you. Regal's obligation with respect to this warranty is limited to making repairs to or replacing the defective parts and no claim for breach of warranty shall be cause for cancellation or rescission of the contract or sale for any boat manufactured by REGAL MARINE INDUSTRIES, INC. Regal will discharge its obligations under this warranty as rapidly as possible, but cannot guarantee any specific completion date due to the different nature of claims which may be made and services which may be required. Regal reserves the right to change or improve the design of its boats without obligation to modify any boat previously manufactured. This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which may vary from state to state. Regal shall in no way be responsible for any repairs not PRE-AUTHORIZED by a Regal Customer Service Manager or repairs performed by a repair shop not PRE- AUTHORIZED by a Regal Customer Service Manager.
