New Leak Tester CETATEST 825 With the new CETATEST 825, CETA Testsysteme GmbH introduces the fourth generation of differential pressure leak testers, as a variant of the new series of test devices CETATEST x25. Following the x15 series, known for the quality, reliability and durability of its devices, the new x25 series features a large number of technical innovations. The device housing in 4 height units stands out by its innovative design. The integrated 7” touch screen with intuitive, clearly arranged user interface enables the display of a wide range of information (such as measurement curves, histograms). The device can be operated both from the touchscreen and from a dual jog dial. Separate start/stop keys ensure operational safety even in harsh industrial environment. An alternative model with offset control panel for integration in a test stand is currently in development. Combining the advantages of a real-time microcontroller for measurement processing and industrial PC architecture offers various possibilities to increase the functionality of the device. For example, it allows flexible configuration of additional test phases. An event-driven test process can be achieved through the integration of external sensors (such as temperature sensors). User-oriented functionalities facilitate the setup of the device (for example conversion to other units of measurement). The ring buffer can store over 1 million measurements. A total of 256 test programs are available. The pneumatic system has been flowoptimised and the inherent volume of the measuring circuit significantly reduced. Integrated security functions are provided for the detection

of internal system errors. This ensures a high degree of production reliability. Various bidirectional wireless connections (Bluetooth, wireless LAN, NFC) are provided in addition to the usual industrial interfaces. A special app for tablets and smartphones is to be launched in the near future. The x25 series is fully interface-compatible with the x15 series. The established application software „CETA Soft 2G“ can also be used with the new devices. The x25-series is all set to meet Industry 4.0 demands. As in the previous series, all leak testers of the CETATEST x25 series will be delivered with DAkkS calibration certificate (in accordance with the standard DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025) and 3-year warranty. CETATEST 825 will be available in the 4th quarter of 2019. Further models (volume flow and mass flow measurement) and multichannel devices will follow in the near term. Smart Clothing Just Got Smarter Have you seen the video asking which is the most pointless IoT (internet of things) device (i.e.: smart dental floss, smart underwear, smart wine bottle, smart stroller, etc.)? In the end, the “internet of things dental floss” received the most points for being the most pointless. Thanks to IoT, there has been a fast development between electronics and textiles, giving way to “seamless and massive integration of sensors into textiles and the development of conductive yarn”. Smart fabrics are communicating with smart phones processing heart rate, breathing, movement, stress, body temperature, hormone levels, and even acceleration. Since smart clothing adjusts to our everyday lifestyle and gives us immediate and useful biometric feedback over a long period of time, it could become THE NEXT interface between the digital world and the real world (see academic review by Fernandez/Carames and Fraga-Lamas, University of Corona, Spain). Smart clothing could be the next smartphone (or at least an extension of the smartphone or other portable connected devices). Now, researchers at the University of Maryland, have created a new fabric that changes its insulating properties based on its environment. This goes way beyond sensors in clothing. This is a first-ever fabric that allows more heat to pass through in warm and moist conditions. It also reduces heat escape when conditions are cooler and dryer. The secret in the sauce is really in the string! The fabric’s yarn is made of two different synthetic materials and coated with carbon nanotubes. University of Maryland physics professors say this fabric is a true bidirectional regulator, “…for all of history, the only way to regulate our bodies’ temperatures has been to take clothes off or put clothes on.” This new fabric will automatically cool or insulate depending on conditions, thus cooling or warming the human body. Just imagine – a future without intraoffice thermostat wars – or a jobsite where electricians are cooled or warmed without removing or adding coats because of varying environmental temperatures. The possibilities are endless! www.necanet.org S12 | REFRINOTICIAS Magazine | March 2019
