PROFILE Hello, this is Reethu, I am currently seeking a position as an architectural intern from Jan 2024 - April 2024(4 months), after completing nine semesters of undergraduation program of Architecture.

My design philosophy is rooted in the belief that architecture should be more than just functional structures; it should be an embodiment of human aspirations, culture, and sustainability. I approach each project as an opportunity to craft spaces that not only serve their intended purpose but also evoke emotions, inspire creativity, and positively impact the lives of those who interact with them.

01 “COHE-CITY” The project brief was to create a space that focuses on LIVE, WORK and PLAY. It is silk tourism based project located in Ramanagara, to boost it’s economy and can act as an emerging satellite town of Bengaluru. The project is a blend of two sites. The first site is a commercial hub supporting the economy of the town whereas site two is a housing community for the workers of site one and the immediate residents.

The site two is surrounded by agricultural lands and cottage industries dealing with silk.

CONCEPT MASSING DEVELOPMENT

VALLEY POINT OF THE SITE IS THE MAJOR STARTING POINT OF MASSING. IT IS MAIN CENTRAL POINT OF ATTRACTION WHERE ALL THE ACTIVITIES HAPPEN IT IS THEN SURROUNDED BY LIVE SPACES LIKE THE QUARTERS, HOSTEL, LODGE AND COTTAGE INDUSTRIES. 02 “SCHOOL OF DESIGN” The project brief was to design a educational campus for school of design. The objective of this project is to design and create a modern and innovative campus that fosters creativity, learning, and collaboration.

The campus should provide an inspiring and functional environment for students, faculty, and staff in the field of design.

CONCEPT THE AXIS IS A PHYSICAL OR VISUAL LINE THAT DEFINES THE PLACEMENT AND ORIENTATION OF A STRUCTURE. SEVERAL AXES DEFINE THE ARRANGEMENT OF THE BLOCKS. THE AXIS IS NOT CENTERED. THE BLOCKS ARE PLACED ALONG BOTH PRIMARY AND SECONDARY AXIS. THE BUILDINGS ARE PLACED ALONG BOTH PRIMARY AND SECONDARY AXIS. 03 “AALAYAM” The project brief was to design a home for family of six members consisiting a old couple, son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren.

The site was located in Melkote, a small town in Karnataka, known for it’s historical and cultural significance, particularly in the context of Hinduism and temples.

04 INTERIOR DESIGN The project brief was to design a lobby for a 5-star hotel with various fuctions .

The spaces is to be designed based on selected theme with an entrance, ceiling and furniture.

05 “RAW - Holistic Living” The project brief was to design a PrimaryHealthcare Centre for a selected village along with an ancillary function that is necessary for the general health and wellness of the population.

CONCEPT MASSING DEVELOPMENT

R – Rejuvenate A – Appealing W – Web(Inspired) “The job of buildings is to improve human relations: architecture must ease them, not to make them worse.” - Ralph Erskine Rejuvenation through Architecture involves those built spaces that have the ability to communicate wellness to their users.

An interesting concept is the use of local materials, in a raw state.

By combining the raw materials with aesthetically appealing products, the idea is to achieve a façade with amiable interiors that still maintain its raw aesthetics.

The ultimate aim of the project is to create a web in which the environment can be rejuvenated with their own unorthodox design without compromising on sustainable aspects such as better acoustics, natural climate control, energy efficiency, and materials

SUSTAINABILITY MATERIALS AND METHODS 1. BAMBOO BUILD

3. WATER CONSERVATION METHODS

The engineering qualities of Bamboo and it’s intrinsic structure anticipate the principles of many high-tech materials, making it economically efficient, with it’s attractive appearance an added bonus.

Special water conserving installation: water conserving fixtures, recycling and treatment treated water for flushing, washing, gardening etc. The overflow goes to the recharge well of the bore well.

2. RAMMED EARTH BLOCKS

4. RECYCLE AND REUSE

Traditional rammed earth is made of a mix of clay-soil rich, water and a natural stabiliser such as animal urine, animal blood, plant fibres or bitumen. It is then compacted inside temporary formworks that are removed after the mix has dried and hardened.

The structure of the RAW with its roof is it’s most unique feature. We allowed the roof to define it’s own shape as per the flow of the forces naturally, like a stretched fabric. This resulted in a highly efficient structure with minimal energy and material usage.
