dining THE K HOTEL
The Perfect Brunch This hotel is the new favourite place to spend the weekend for both locals and expatriates — and for good reason.
Many dining venues claim that you will be spoilt for choice. Having experienced it first-hand, we can guarantee that this holds true for Klouds Restaurant at The K Hotel. “It’s not about being better than others; it’s about offering something that is ‘K’ — something different, something unique,” says multipleaward-winning executive chef Sylvester Rozario. The lavish spread begins at the entrance, which eliminates the hassle of weaving through tables. At the entrance you will find an extensive sushi and cold cuts section along with a salad bar that also features canapés. On the right, you’ll find a concept unique to The K Hotel. The carving station features a variety of meat dishes, including shawarma and roast poultry. Watch a chef prepare various kinds of breads to order. Separating the two sections is the dessert station. If the endless options of cakes, Arabic sweets, tarts, chocolate fountain and pastries don’t take your fancy, then you can get pancakes or crepes made to your preference. Klouds is known for its lamb dishes, whether it is a rack or biryani. Start your brunch with the variety of soups and breads on offer. Pick your fish, shrimp, crab or lobster at the seafood market within the venue and have them prepare it to your liking. The casual ambience is complete with the live entertainment by the duo, Anett and Adam. With the happiness of your kids in mind, The K Hotel has arranged for an entertainer who plays card tricks and creates balloon animals. The Friday brunch is priced at BD14 (inclusive of soft drinks) and BD19.500 (inclusive of selected beverages). This automatically enrols you into a draw to win a complimentary dinner voucher for two. i Call 17 360-000.
LOLA’S CUPCAKES
Sugar Rush Everyone’s got a favourite cupcake flavour; this unique bakery has got it all and more. Discover what’s new in the dessert world and satisfy your sweet tooth.
Lola’s is a unique bakery concept, dedicated to achieving delicious cupcakes and celebration cakes, which began way back in 2006 when two friends in the UK, Victoria Jossel and Romy Lewis, started things the old-fashioned way. Originally they took orders at home and baked in their parents’ kitchens. The orders soon started flooding in and they had to move production to a commercial bakery at Primrose Hill. With their love for baking and passion for the finest, fresh ingredients, they grew the company from strength to strength. With concessions in Harrods, Selfridges and Topshop, a flagship store in Mayfair and a booming online store, the name Lola’s became synonymous with style and quality. In December 2011, the company was taken over by Asher Budwig, a fourth-generation baker, who was born into a family of sweet-toothed entrepreneurs. The cupcakes look fantastic, but it’s what lies inside that really counts. Lola’s Cupcakes use only the finest Belgian chocolate, pure vanilla and the freshest fruit, so you can really taste the difference. Most ingredients used are imported from the UK. Whether it’s for a special occasion, like birthdays or weddings, or it’s for a corporate party, these little delectable delights are a perfect offering. Choose from more than 16 varieties of classic flavours. Lola Cupcakes has a bakery/coffee shop in Umm Al Hassam, where people can walk in and place orders or pick up a freshly baked cupcake, and a cart in Najibi Centre in Saar. They also offer a variety of desserts, such as cheesecakes, layered cakes, brownies and muffins. They specialise in creating customised cupcakes and cakes. i Call 17 723-456, follow @lolascupcakesbahrain on Instagram or visit Facebook.com/lolascupcakesbahrain.
