Lent 2022: Journeying Together We’re going on a trip together this Lent. Journeys, whether physical or spiritual, often provide moments of discovery and illumination. Our Lenten book study will lead us on a spiritual journey through the wilderness. We’ll also be taking some physical journeys, including using our prayer labyrinth and taking a pilgrimage through our neighborhood. But no matter how or where we travel, we often find that it was God who was accompanying and leading us all the time.

Journeying our Neighborhood Sundays after the 11 AM Service As we consider our personal journey's this Lent and their impact on our lives, we will also be offering actual an actual journey through Midtown as we reflect on the impact of Redeemer in the community and pray for our partners in ministry and people we serve together. You can join a pastor shortly after the 11'oclock service and walk with a group or there will be handouts available so that you can walk by yourself. The total distance will be right around 1 mile.

Midtown Prayer Wall Our Midtown Prayer Portal, Redeemer's Prayer Wall is now in place along Peachtree St. The prayers of our neighbors and the Midtown community began filling up the wall on Shrove Tuesday after Pastor Mark blessed and prayed over the wall and our community. Our Community Engagement Team, led by Co-chairs Carol Maxwell and Carol Swisher, and other members and friends began to welcome and engage in conversations with our neighbors over Krispy Kremes, Cokes, and Mardi Gras beads and by inviting them to write their prayers for peace and healing on the wall. Christina, a young Jewish woman with family in Kyiv, Ukraine was the first to take the chalk and write a prayer to God for her family and people in Ukraine.

Many others followed offering prayers for new jobs, relief from debts, healing for friends and family, for humanity, and world peace.

One person prayed: God Please Come Back! expressing, perhaps, the pleas of many in our neighborhood and world today. The frightening war in Ukraine and its people is especially on our hearts and minds today. We know that people everywhere have a need to pray and our Prayer Wall offers another portal. Each day, pictures are taken of the prayers to be incorporated within the prayers of Redeemer and its Prayer Warriors. Also, Mary Howle developed and placed a QR Code on the wall which, by placing one's smartphone camera over the code can open up Redeemer's prayer portal which can be utilized when and wherever one is at the time. Please pray for those who post prayers for God on the wall and visit the Prayer Wall when you are in Midtown during Lent and Holy Week to offer a prayer and even meet a neighbor at the wall.

Ensemble Chaconne: “Measure for Measure: The Music of Shakespeare’s Plays.”

Sunday, March 6 | 2:00 PM The Redeemer Concert Series continues with a free concert presented by Ensemble Chaconne: “Measure for Measure: The Music of Shakespeare’s Plays.”

The program is a rare and compelling view of the music Shakespeare's audiences would have heard, including music by the leading composers of his day (Thomas Morley, Robert Johnson, John Dowland, others) and anonymous tunes of the period. Music from As You Like It, Twelfth Night, Henry V, The Winter's Tale, The Tempest, Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, and other plays. It is performed on renaissance flutes, viola da gamba, and renaissance lute, with vocalist Burcu Gulec.

Free parking is provided, and there will be a light reception following the concert. Donations to the Friends of Music will be accepted at the door.

​ Journeying the Labyrinth Wednesdays, 10:30-12:30, 6:00-8:00 In the Sims Atrium As early as the 4th century, labyrinths have been included in Christian settings as a tool for prayer and meditation. The ancient imagery of the circle and spiral combine into a meandering but purposeful journey to our own center and back again out into the world. You are invited to walk Redeemer's Santa Rosa Labyrinth this Lent. The Labyrinth will be set up every Wednesday throughout the season of Lent, beginning on Ash Wednesday, March 2, through April 6. Open hours for walking the Labyrinth are from 10:30 am-12:30 pm and 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. Read more about walking the Labyrinth on our website.

Hunger Walk Run 2022 is here!

Join us on Sunday, March 6, at the Home Depot Backyard next to Mercedes Benz Stadium. The weather forecast is warm and sunny, a perfect day to walk in support of hunger relief in our community. The funds raised by Team Redeemer will support the Lutheran Community Food Ministry, Inspiritus, and the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

Event Details: Noon: Event opens, onsite registration and entertainment begins, plus there will be a wide selection of food trucks for lunch or snacks.

2:00 pm 5K Fun Walk and Run begins 4:00 pm Event ends Onsite registration is $30 to walk and $40 to run and includes a Hunger Walk t-shirt.

Paid parking is available around the stadium, and MARTA is an excellent option to get to the event. Donations to Team Redeemer are also welcomed, and there are matching funds available for the first $250 donated to the team.
