Lutheran Church of the Redeemer’s Statement of Welcome

We serve a God of abundant grace and generosity Our worship is centered on the invitation that Christ offers at the communion table: all are welcome in this place. That welcome flows through all we do and say We open our arms to everyone who comes to share our love of God and all God’s people. We affirm and value the lives of everyone, including all who have been marginalized by ability, age, gender, gender identity and expression, mental or physical health, poverty, race, sexual orientation, or any other circumstance Let our message be clear: all are welcome to participate fully in the life of our congregation.

Lutheran Community Food Ministry

· Wednesday Night Community Meals Pastor’s Discretionary Fund

Dear Friends of MAC,

Beginning on November 1st, over 40 million people will lose access to their SNAP benefits (food stamps) due to the government shutdown

This includes an estimated 1 4 million in the state of Georgia Food pantries and food banks were already struggling due to federal cuts, inflation, and need for services.

Without food aid benefits and the holiday season around the corner, more and more families will be turning to the Midtown Assistance Center for help with keeping food on the table

You can make a difference in the lives of these families by making a gift If you can tap into your network, organize a food drive at your work, neighborhood, or congregation

In the link below, we've highlighted the greatest needs in our food pantry and included QR codes to our donation page, Amazon wish list and Walmart wish list. You can shop from home and have your purchase sent directly to our pantry

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your support

Sincerely,

*MAC Bins will be available in the Sims Atrium beginning this Sunday

Government Shutdown

Beginning November 1, more than 1,200 refugees in Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee will lose access to SNAP food stamp benefits due to the ongoing government shutdown. These newly arrived families many of them parents working hard to rebuild their lives need our help to keep food on the table.

INSPIRITUS is working urgently to raise $240,000 to provide emergency food assistance.

Every gift matters: $100 feeds a family of four for a week, and $500 supports a household for a month.

Donate today to help ensure no family goes hungry during this critical time. Together, we can empower families to move from surviving to thriving

Christ the King Sunday Pastor Timothy Lloyd, preaching

The theme of the Day Jeremiah’s promise of the execution of “justice and righteousness in the land” finds ironic fulfillment in the execution of Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews It appears utterly contradictory that a king should be crucified with a criminal. This victory appears for all the world as humiliating defeat. Yet through the gate of death Jesus opens the door to paradise

Congratulations to the following members on their election to our Congregation Council for a 3-year term beginning in 2026:

Todd Larsen, Jana Thomas, Dana Norden, Mindy Tanzola, and Jenny Peterson. Join us for an installation service during worship on Sunday, December 7

Please join us at 10:00 am this Sunday, November 23 , as part of our ”Mysteries of Faith” Adult Faith Formation class, Room 121, when we will commence our study of Charles Murray’s 2025 book, ”Taking Religion Seriously”. This is Murray’s autobiographical account of the decades-long evolution in his stance toward the idea of God in general and Christianity in particular He argues that religion is something that can be approached as an intellectual exercise His account moves from the improbable physics of the Big Bang to recent discoveries about the nature of consciousness, from evolutionary psychology to hypotheses about a universal Moral Law His exploration of Christianity delves into the authorship of the Gospels, the reliability of Biblical texts, and the scholarship surrounding the resurrection story ”Maybe God needs a way to reach over-educated agnostics and that’s what I stumbled into, ” Murray writes. ”It’s a more arid process than divine revelation but it has been rewarding. And, if you ’ re like me, it’s the only game in town” ALL ARE INVITED Sundays 10 am | Room 119 |
