PRINCIPALS' WELCOME

WELCOME TO REDDAM HOUSE SYDNEY

I extend a very warm welcome to our new students joining us for the first time, as well as to our current students who are already valued members of the Reddam House Sydney family. We are excited to have you with us and are looking forward to the upcoming academic year with great anticipation.

In this Information Guide, you will find all the essential information to assist you in navigating your child’s school journey with us. From key dates and uniform requirements to details on our Global Camps and Global exchanges. This document is designed to help you and your child feel prepared and confident as you start the new school year.

I also welcome you as parents and guardians and encourage you to look

out for a number of community events we have on offer throughout the year. These events provide wonderful opportunities to connect with other families, engage with the school community, and be involved in your child’s educational experience.

I thank you for taking the time to read through this document and for entrusting us with your child’s education. We are committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where each student can thrive academically, socially, and personally. I wish you all a successful and rewarding start to the school year ahead, and we look forward to supporting you every step of the way.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO WALKING THIS JOURNEY WITH YOU

A very warm welcome to all our new and returning families. It is always a joy to see our community grow, as new faces join our Reddam House Sydney family and returning students continue to build on their learning journey with us Each year brings new opportunities, fresh challenges, and moments of celebration that we are proud to share.

At Reddam House Sydney Primary, we believe that happy children are the best learners When children feel secure, valued, and supported, they develop the confidence to explore ideas, embrace creativity, and take ownership of their learning. Kindness underpins everything we do; it shapes how our students treat one another, how they respond to challenges, and how they celebrate success. These values, combined with curiosity and resilience, create an environment where children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

This year will be filled with exciting opportunities across every area of school life. From building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy to immersing themselves in music, art, drama, and sport, our students will be encouraged to explore a rich and balanced curriculum.

They will also have the chance to connect with the broader world through excursions, camps, and global opportunities that broaden their horizons and develop their independence.

As parents and guardians, you play a vital role in this journey. We invite you to join us at community events, performances, information evenings, and annual celebrations. These moments of connection strengthen the bonds between home and school, reminding us that education is a shared partnership built on trust, respect, and collaboration.

Thank you for placing your confidence in us to guide and nurture your child. Together, we will ensure this year is filled with growth, discovery, and joy. On behalf of the Reddam House Sydney Primary staff, I wish you a rewarding and memorable year ahead, and I look forward to walking this journey with you.

SCHOOL LIFE

Behaviour through positive reinforcement

Whilst the Reddam House philosophy is structured to create a sense of freedom within which individuality is encouraged, personal growth and self-confidence promoted, and freedom of expression allowed, the extent of that freedom is defined by the Discipline Code. Responsibility is placed on the student to enjoy freedom within the parameters of this code, which is a partnership between Reddam House North Shore, parents, and students. Within the Reddam House approach, students who contravene the discipline code are awarded demerits

They may also earn credits, which can cancel out demerits for minor infringements. The Discipline Code is signed by students and their parents, allowing students to actively take responsibility for their behaviour.

Regular testing

Students are tested on a regular basis, and this forms an essential part of our unique teaching programme. The tests are conducted under exam-type conditions and provide invaluable practice in being able to complete a set task within a limited timeframe and performing successfully in examinations The tests are also used as diagnostic tools to let teachers, students, and parents know what has been mastered and to flag areas needing further consolidation.

Class sizes

Reddam House is committed to maintaining optimal class sizes based on research, which has demonstrated that smaller numbers are one of the most effective ways to increase the learning capacity of each individual student.

CO-CURRICULAR PROGRAMME AND SPORT

Reddam House Sydney provides a vibrant and extensive cocurricular programme, offering students diverse opportunities to engage in sports, arts, drama, music, and dance, fostering both creativity and personal growth.

We actively encourage students to engage in a diverse range of co-curricular activities throughout the year, fostering their involvement and enriching their overall school experience.

A comprehensive schedule of the term's cultural and sporting activities will be shared at the beginning of each term. Please note that some co-curricular activities are facilitated by external providers and may incur additional costs, which will be billed to your school account.

Reddam House offers a variety of sports each term, and students are strongly encouraged to participate. Engaging in sports provides invaluable opportunities for students to enhance their fitness, health, and physical skills, while also fostering teamwork, strategic thinking, and effective communication

Sports practices are outlined in the co-curricular programme and are scheduled to allow for maximum participation. Additionally, some sports teams compete in local competitions across Sydney, which may take place after school, in the evenings, or on Saturdays.

Years K – Year 6

Enrichment and sporting programmes will be arranged in the first week of Term 1, 2026 Correspondence will come directly from the Primary School.
