MESSAGE FROM MR.CINO GOODBYE FRIDAY, JULY 16TH 2021

I would like to thank each of you for being such a valuable member of the Newton family. Your dedication, support, and companionship has made it a special privilege to have worked with you. No matter what our roles are, we all have the same mission and that is to provide the services that our students need to become well-rounded and successful citizens. Newton College offers an excellent, well-rounded education. My own three children and hundreds of other ex-alumni are testament to this fact. When your job is fulfilling, time flies past at work, and for me the last 40 years have certainly flown past. Although there are various challenges ahead, the strong leadership at Newton and the commitment of staff will navigate the ship through stormy waters. As I saw in a staff meeting yesterday:

"a smooth sea does not make a skilful sailor" Thank you everyone for your hard work during this pandemic. Soon you will be back on campus and I look forward to visiting you and saying a proper farewell. Keep taking care of yourselves and your family,

Andy Cino

HEADMASTER THOUGHT MONDAY, AUGUST 2ND 2021

I am very pleased to be writing this as the new Headmaster of Newton College. I know many members of our community, as I have been at the school for 19 years, and during that time I have grown in my roles as a Houseteacher, Head of Department, a Head of Year, as the Deputy Head of Level, and as the Head of Upper School. Each position has given me a rich experience, and interacting and collaborating with students, parents, teachers and members of Administration has been invaluable in learning new skills and improving as a person. Whilst it is true that as a school, we find ourselves in a challenging position because of the ongoing pandemic, it is also clear that we have responded, evolved, and adapted along the course of the last year and a half. It is this ability to find manageable solutions to complex problems in a rapidly changing world that demonstrates our strength as a community, each one of us with an important role to play and point of view to contribute. It is also these solution focused skills, of course, that we want to develop in our students to ensure they are able to succeed in the wider world after Newton.

Thanks to every member at Newton for their commitment to support the development of well rounded students, and here's to an excellent second half of the year.

Richard Quantrill
