Extra Large Record Storage Cabinet

A statement piece. Each cubby holds 75-100 standard LPs comfortably, or about 14 inches of vinyl per cubby. This cabinet is constructed from two units, an upper and a lower, and can be customized for storage drawers or additional vinyl storage on the bottom row.

+ How many vinyl records will a cabinet actually hold?

To get a good sense of how many drawers you might need, you can measure the total "distance" of your vinyl collection and divide by 14 -- the result will be how many drawers you will need The drawers are 15” deep on the interior, and allowing some space for sifting, you have 14 ” of usable space in each drawer. Each drawer will hold between 75 and 100 LPs, depending on their individual thickness, so it’s best to measure your collection instead of counting records Drawers are 13" wide on the interior, which will fit most standard box sets.

+ How are these cabinets built?

Cabinets are custom built out of 3/4" plywood and finished with gel stain. The cabinets can be stained any color Typically finished with a matte polyurethane, or we can do a satin polyurethane. Drawers are built out of 1/2” plywood and are stained on the exterior (interior is left natural, unless requested to be stained Drawer hardware is rated to 100 lbs each, but a full drawer should only weigh about 60 lbs. These cabinets are built to last.

+ Can I customize the cabinet?

Every cabinet is custom built per order. No cabinet is off the shelf. When you order, you'll confirm your stain, finish and details We can mail you some sample blocks with your selected stains, before or after you decide to order. We are happy to customize the cabinet and hardware to your specifications, though we will need to charge additional for more expensive hardware and lumber, and if the details take significantly more time. An estimate will be provided upfront.

+ Should I order on Etsy first, or figure out stain color and details before I order? It’s up to you! Once you order on Etsy, we will put your cabinet in our production queue Some clients prefer to request sample blocks and discuss custom details prior to ordering; others prefer to order first and then figure out the details.

+ How will my cabinet get shipped?

We offer free shipping in the continental United States. Cabinets will arrive fully assembled, though you might need to add the adjustable legs by twisting them onto the attached mounts The cabinet will be shipped freight, meaning it will be packed and wrapped on a pallet. You will get a call from the carrier to setup a local delivery window, and a driver will drop the pallet wherever a pallet jack can go (usually driveway or garage) From there, you will need to unpack it and move it into your home. If you live locally in Los Angeles, ask us about a local shipping discount.

+ Why do these cabinets need to be strapped to the wall? These cabinets are heavy, especially with vinyl records. We strongly recommend you secure the cabinet to the wall immediately The cabinet should be secured to prevent it from tipping forward under any circumstance.We include a Quakehold safety strap at no extra charge

+ Why are these cabinets constructed with plywood?

We build these cabinets out of a combination of species-matched solid hardwood (for the face frame, edge-banding, and drawer faceplates) and plywood (for the cabinet box and drawer boxes). Solid lumber is expensive, heavy, and very strong in one direction (with the grain) and correspondingly weak in the other direction (against the grain). On the other hand, plywood, with its criss-crossed layers, is stronger than solid lumber in most applications Since the outer "veneer" layer is a desirable hardwood (in this case, oak, birch, walnut or mahogany), it matches the face trim and drawer faceplates quite nicely. This is standard construction for most wood furniture, especially if it will carry a heavy load like vinyl records
