Singapore Youth Festival, SYF for short, is an event started by the Ministry of Education Singapore, with the aim to spread awareness and appreciation for the Arts among the youth. The event is held biannually, and features many branches of Performing Arts such as Dance, Drama, Choir, Instrumental Ensembles and Bands.
SYF is a time for Schools around Singapore to showcase the prowess of their Arts Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs). Every Performance is judged by a panel of Adjudicators and will receive one of three awards, titled Certificates of Commendation, Accomplishment and Distinction.
To many students, SYF represents the Pinnacle of their CCA life in school, a time where everyone is expected to be at the top of the game and to be school representatives. Additionally, the nature of the Awards System often results in inter-school competitiveness, which fuels many students to work hard and achieve the Certificate of Distinction for their Band.
In Re:Cinta Wind Symphony, all of our Members are/were part of their respective School Bands, and they have represented their School bands in SYF before. To us, SYF is a core memory in our musical lives, and hence we invite you to relive our experiences at this Concert!
As part of the Programme, Re:Cinta Wind Symphony will be performing some of the most famous and difficult pieces to ever be played in SYF History.
