DESIGN FOR AN ARTFUL LIFE A Note From Rebecca
AWARM WELCOME. A CALM retreat. These are the feelings I hope this newspaper, just like my designs, evokes. I created it to give you a behind-the-scenes glimpse into what it takes to produce our textiles and wallpapers. I also hope it gives you a nice respite from your phone and computer screens to read, learn, and feel inspired. I'm so happy that you're holding it in your hands.
Each season, I’ll share in it the ideas and craftsmanship that went into our latest collection. For me, it’s an opportunity to reexamine my creative process. I am, first and foremost, an artist. I believe in the art of making. Each of my designs begins as an original artwork, each color standard as a hand-painted swatch. I hope this peek inside my routine invites you to think more expansively about your own.
This newspaper also shines light on the many other talented artisans we work with to produce our textiles and wallpapers. The quality of the finished product—the velvety matte texture of a wallpaper, the fine detail of an embroidered fabric—is as important to me as the artistry of my final design. These stories tell why it’s imperative that we make our embroidery in India and our jacquards in Pennsylvania: the makers there are the very best in the world at what they do, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to
bring my art to life. The care they put into their work is clear when you see and feel each of our textiles and wallpapers in person.
Real homes that feature our designs in beautiful ways will also appear here each quarter. They’re living examples of how there’s something in our collection for every project, from painterly prints to woven neutrals, bold backdrops to quiet textured wallpapers. You may find something here that could end up in your next job or your library and help your clients create their livable landscape.
My hope is that each of my designs invites a feeling, the way a certain painting or song can evoke a memory or sensation. I believe you lay the groundwork for happiness or calm or groundedness through the way you make your world, whether it’s the patterns on your walls or the colors of the upholstered chair you curl up in while reading a book. Because you’re here, I know that’s a belief we share. Here’s to cultivating it every day.

Our Collection
WALLPAPERS + TEXTILES
From enveloping wallpapers to textiles ideal for layering, our collection is filled with colors and patterns that foster peace, harmony, and reflection. Our motifs both express those sentiments and inspire us to cultivate them within ourselves. When we fill our living spaces with meaningful design, they invite us into states of calm, warmth, buoyancy, comfort, and creativity. These ways of being then radiate outward— like ripples in water—to our families, our communities, and our visions for the world.

Creating Color Pallettes
SOUTHERN LIVING IDEA HOUSE
We were incredibly fortunate to collaborate with designer Allison Elebash on this year's Southern Living Idea House, right here in Charleston, SC.
Check out an excerpt from Rebecca's color and pattern process below.
I’m thrilled to be a part of the Southern Living Idea House. When Allison Elebash asked me to contribute, I felt so honored. I love her work and think she truly epitomizes lowcountry living—a newer concept for me, having lived in the Northeast for most of my life. Allison is not only a talented designer but a friend.
To choose designs for the house, we began by looking at the paint palette Allison had picked out. This is a project that moved quickly, but she intuitively pulled colors from Sherwin-Williams that brought warmth to a new build.
The earthy, comforting palette— composed of Sherwin-Williams Mushroom, Breakwater, Soft Sage, Bateau Brown, and Carnelian—balances darker hues with lighter, airier ones. The combination feels in line with the landscape. The Kiawah River, with its old oak trees, marshland, ferns, and swaying grasses, provides such a beautiful setting.
After we reviewed the colors, we began pulling wallpapers and fabrics that fit with them, her design concepts, and the overall mood she wanted for the home. While some colors sat perfectly with the palette, we also decided to translate some of my designs into custom colors tying back to the Sherwin-Williams colors.
