Community
Oak trees, with their steadfast strength and sheltering branches, have long symbolized grounding and connection in Raleigh, North Carolina. Inspired by these trees, Oak & Roots is a residential complex designed to foster a nurturing and connected community, much like the branches of an oak tree that reach out and intertwine In a post-COVID world where isolation has become a growing concern, especially for young professionals navigating new cities or states, our integrated community spaces serve as the foundation for engagement and belonging. These hubs encourage collaboration, interaction, and growth, addressing the pressing need for connection while supporting emotional and physical well-being Recognizing the financial challenges of finding housing, Oak & Roots is committed to providing an affordable and dynamic living environment, creating a space where residents can thrive, build meaningful relationships, and truly feel at home in their city.

Creating a technological utopia
The digital marketing firm, R/GA, wants to renovate and modernize their office space. Their building is located in St. Louis and features grand windows on the north and south facades that draw attention. Keeping core values are important and prevalent within this office and a key one is creating a calming and comfortable atmosphere for employees to work in Being in digital marketing, technology is very prevalent and always evolving; showing their technological capabilities is essential in creating relationships with clients. With this in mind, I drew inspiration from a technological utopia where there is a central focus of combining technology with biophilia Mixing biophilia with technology will create a balance within the space and provide that calming and comfortable atmosphere There are three main concepts that are driving the design for this office space: rectilinear grid forms are used to express the technology, organic forms are contrasted to express the biophilia, and large scale screens and planting divide space

A flexible retail space with a focus on lighting
Fleur flower shop is a boutique retail space that is focused on flexible retail and lighting design. This flower shop will offer a wide variety of floral arrangements that features seasonal flowers and greenery. The shop should have enough light, warmth, and display area for the flowers While working on this project I became fascinated with how flowers mix rectangular and organic forms effortlessly, creating a contrast between the orthogonal form of a stem and the organic shape of the flower petals. Flowers also create depth with push and pull elements between the inner most part of the flower and the petals. I drew inspiration from this and assigned the curved organic forms to be the furniture and form profiles of the space while the structure is the stem or the rectangular parts A key element in this design are the numerous push and pull elements throughout the space. This project was a focus project on lighting design where we collaborated with Lang Lighting.

Portable side table
Trance is a portable side table for a residential setting This project evokes the emotions of reading. Reading has been shown to put our minds in a trance-like state that is similar to meditation while bringing health benefits of deep relaxation and inner calm I wanted to create a project that reflected how I feel when I read and be of aid to other readers This table has a book rack to create storage, a small table top to hold a few reading essentials, and two handles on the back that allow the table to be easily transported to fit the user ’ s needs.
This furniture project’s objective was to create a collector’s coffee table that mimicked a specific design period. Generational is derived from the forms of Scandinavian Modernism. While researching this movement I became fascinated with the forms of vases from this style and took inspiration from these forms into the legs of my table The simplicity and minimalism of this design style was also a driving factor for this design. I wanted to keep the forms simple with wood joinery that supports the simplicity. This coffee table is named generational because I had a unique opportunity to use the same wood that my Grand-dad had previously used to create a coffee table of his own This was a special addition to the project where I could bring a personal touch and focus on how to reuse wood and create a generational tie.
