ELSEWHERE FAMILY AREA

AIM TO FLY

Readipop Festival has stepped up its fun and games for children at this years event, with workshops, performers and entertainers doing their thing across this Saturday and Sunday on Christchurch Meadows. Not only are Reading’s own Jelly back, leading arts and crafts throughout the weekend ( Family Marquee, Sat and Sun, 1pm 5pm), but they are joined by fellow Redingensians Conco, teaching you the finest in urban dance (2pm Family Marquee, 4:40pm Family Marquee - Sat), Vik Vox from Fuzzbox’s Ukulele Workshop (5:15pm Family Marquee - Sat) and The Fabularium performing their wonderful children’s theatre

piece ’Tortoise and Hare’ (Across site 1pm - 5pm - Sun). Add Xanthe Gresham (2:40pm Family Marquee, 4pm Baby Top - Sat), a storyteller previously featured at The Barbican and British Museum, and acclaimed by The Telegraph and The Times to the mix, and we’ve only mentioned half of the full family area programme.

Out of this world ANNUAL DAYDREAM HARVEST

* For the full Family Area schedule, please keep an eye out for signage around site.

This year’s children’s area also boasts a second stage, the Baby Top, which plays host to the like of Flea Circus’, Drum and Belly Dancing Workshops, and perhaps most impressively, a spellbinding puppetry and storytelling show in the form of One Moment in Time’s performance of ‘A Necklace of Raindrops’, (Baby Top, Sun, 4:15pm). Outside, be wowed by Aim to Fly , the accessible circus company, and friends (across the full weekend), plus drumming from Tankata Percussion, more workshops and dance performances all leading up to an “Out Of This World” Sunday parade featuring beats from Beatroots, carnival dancers led by Theah Dix and a fantastical float created by Annual Daydream Harvest - all appearing at WOMAD later this month. And if that’s not enough, Lucie Sheridan’s insta-famous Rubbish Portraits booth is available for pictures, and Free Kid’s DJ workshops will give you a chance to scratch and mix like the folks up on stage.
