“Gill, can I have this?” Din said.

“I like it a lot.”

“Here you go,” Gill said. “Will it fit you?”

“It fits, and it is a bit big.”

“You can have it.”

“Gill, can I have a bat?” Din said. “I want to hit.”

Gill said, “Do you like this little bat?”

“No, I do not. I want a big bat.”

Gill said, “This bat is big.

Do you want it?”

“No,” Din said. “It is not the bat I want. I do not like it.”

“Lib wants the bat. Lib cannot have it.”

“I see a bat I like!” said Din. “Where?” said Gill.

“Here! I will lob this, and you will see my big hit!”

“My bat!” Din said. “Lib has my bat!”

“No, Lib!” Gill said. “Come here!”

Lib has the bat on the hill.

Lib likes the bat a lot.

“Lib,” Din said. “This is my bat. You cannot have the big bat.”

Lib is on Gill’s lap.

“You can have this little bat,” Gill said.

Lib taps Gill on the lips.

Din said, “Lib has the little bat, and I have the big bat.”

Gill said, “Lib likes the bat a lot.”

“Lib can hit!”

“Go, Lib. Go!”

Beginning Readers 13 Jud and Ron’s Bug

Pop Ron Jud 9

Ron is Jud’s friend.

Jud likes bugs but not Ron.

“You do not like bugs?” Jud said.

“No, I do not!” Ron said.

Pop sees a bug. “Jud! Ron!

Come. There is a bug!”

“Where is it?” Jud said.

“There, on the rug.”

Ron hid. “I do not want to see it!”

“The bug is as big as a rat!” said Ron. Pop said, “No, it is not. It is a little bug.”

Ron did not like it. “Rid us of this bug!”
“Oh no!” said Jud. “Where did it go?”
“I know!” Ron said. “It is in the mug! It cannot go in there!”

“The bug is on the rim,” said Jud.

Jud said, “I like it! I want to have the bug.”

“No,” Pop said. “The bug has to go.”

“Where will it go?” said Ron.

“I know,” Pop said. “It can go there, in the mud.”

Ron said, “Will it like the mud?”

Jud said, “I do not know, but we can see.”

“See? This bug is not bad,” said Jud. “Do you like the bug?” said Pop. Ron nods. “Oh, I do like this bug.”

Yin and Van Find Yon

Yon Van Yin 17

Yin, Van, and Yon like to have fun.

The friends want to run and tag. Yon taps Van. “I tag you!”

“I got the tap,” Van said. “I am it!”

Yin runs up the hill, and Van runs up the hill.

Will Van tag Yin?

“The sun is very hot,” Van said.

“I do not want to run.”

“Where is Yon?” said Van. “I do not see him.”

“I am here,” said Yon. But Van did not find him.

“I see him!” Yin said. “There!”

Yin and Yon run, but Van cannot find the friends.

“This is not very fun,” said Van.

“Where is Yin?” said Van. “And where is Yon? I do not see my friends.”

“Who is in there? Is it Yin? Is it Yon?”

“I see you, Yin!” said Van.

“Here I am!” Yin said. “I ran and hid.”

Van taps Yin. “Tag! I win!”

“Oh,” Yin said. “I am it, but I want to tag Yon.”

“I know where we can find him.”

“There!” Van said. “I see Yon.”

Yin taps Yon. “Tag! I win!”

“I am it,” Yon said, “but I do not want to run.”

“We can fit on this,” Van said.

“It is very big.”

The friends sat and had lots of fun.

Kat Kit 25

Kit is a little pup.

Kat is Kit’s mom.

Kit and Kat want to dip.

“I like to dip,” Kit said.

“This is very fun.”

“Do you want a hug?” said Kit. Kat nods. “I want a hug and kiss.”

“I like to hug and kiss my mom.”

“I like to hug and kiss my pup.”

“Who can find it?” Kat said.

“I know you can do it. Come on, my little pup.”

“I can!” Kit said. “I will dip, and I will find it.”

Kit said, “I will tap it and jab it to see in it.”

Kat said, “Do not do it. It will not like it.”

Tap, tap, tap.

Jab, jab, jab.

“Oh! It bit my lip!” said Kit. Kat is very mad. “I said not to tap it.”

“Where is it?” said Kit.

“I cannot find it.”

“Here it is,” Kat said. “I will put it up here, on the tip.”

“And I will not tap it again,” said Kit.

“Can I have a hug?” said Kit. Kat said, “You can have a very big hug and kiss.” Kit and Kat dip, hug, and kiss. Kit has a big nap on Kat’s lap.
