We return to the Forbury Gardens for the launch of this year’s Reading Children’s Festival!
Attractions on the day will include children’s entertainment and workshops, charity and information stalls, tombolas, refreshments, face painting, arts and crafts, balloon modelling and that’s not all.
Meet Jamie from Prior’s Court opening the main stage programme with a fantastic performance! Jamie is a young adult living at Prior’s Court, a Berkshirebased charity providing care and education for autistic young people with complex needs. Jamie has a real passion for the performing arts, using it to express himself in a way he couldn’t otherwise. Jamie’s interest in singing and acting has seen him perform at a number of festivals and schools, often covering hit songs such as ‘Ice Ice Baby’, as well as Prior’s Court’s own song, ‘Let Me Shine’.
Enjoy the performance by Universal Voices, a Universitybased choir for children aged 7-11, at 11.20am. They offer an excellent choral education with musicianship training embedded into rehearsals. Universal Voices perform regularly in venues all around Reading, and sing a wide range of music including songs from musicals, traditional music from around the world, pop songs and classical music.
Visit the University of Reading stall and create flag bunting that will be used to decorate the Community Festival, taking place on Saturday 17 May!
