Vision, Mission & Values

Vision

To be an educational community of inspired learners and leaders prepared to adapt confidently and engage responsibly in our changing world.

Values

We are guided by and adhere to our values of integrity, diligence, respect, and involvement.

Mission

RDS inspires and develops the authentic character and potential of each child.

The 2021/22 academic year was one of significant accomplishment and change for RDS. During this year, we welcomed new leadership and also came together as a community to develop our new Strategic Plan, Meaningful Learning for Life.

The plan intentionally builds on the strengths of RDS while also clearly describing how we will meet future challenges and opportunities head on

We are proud to have had close to 100% participation rate from various stakeholders in the thoughtful articulation of our shared aspirations for the future of RDS. Further, 93% of RDS parents would recommend our school to friends and family This is an outstanding endorsement by our community

The core of RDS, reflected in our mission, “RDS develops and inspires the authentic character and potential of each child” , remains unchanged. We are unwavering in our commitment to be an educational community of inspired learners and leaders, and we know that meaningful relationships are at the center of effective teaching and learning.

We remain very grateful to our community, who not only support us financially but also give us their time and expertise by volunteering in various capacities at the school throughout the year. Every gift of time and resource ensures that our learning community is innovative and inspiring for all learners

Thank you for your support; you continue to believe and invest in RDS, making the present possible and our goals in Meaningful Learning for Life achievable.

The Bottom Line

Commitment to Institutional Stewardship

As a not-for-profit independent school, RDS is dependent largely on tuition fees for revenue. In 2021/22, donations to our community provided approximately 2% of that revenue and were used to help fund projects that would otherwise not have been possible.

The money we raised this year went towards our STEAM program for students from JK - Grade 8 and upgraded our classroom technology as well as invaluable professional development for our teachers.

Staff salaries and benefits account for approximately 65% of expenses. This allocation of expenses is typical among independent schools. The breakdown of operating revenue and expenses for the 2021 - 2022 fiscal year is:

The RDS Annual Art Show

On Thursday May 12th, 2022, The Rosedale Day School proudly presented our 20th Annual Art Show & Fundraiser at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. It was a tremendous joy to gather in person and thanks to the generous support from our community, we can continue to invest in our teachers’ professional development, equip classes with new learning tools, and strategically nurture and develop the authentic character and potential of every child our school. We are so grateful to our community for their support.

Annual Giving

The ability to continue to enhance our programs is made possible by your generous support of the Annual Giving Campaign.

It is through the generous contributions of our community that we were able to raise over $98,000 and provide our students with the tools, programs, and opportunities needed to foster a strong growth mindset and thorough academic preparedness

Equipping our students with future-proof skills remains a priority and our STEAM program benefited especially from fundraising this year with the following enhancements: Sphero Bots, KIBO Bots, Laser Cutter, Wireless Data Projectors, and Upgrades to the Maker Cart.
