Visiting patients, relatives and friends Visiting times are 2.30pm to 4.30pm and 6pm until 8pm. Intensive Care and the children’s wards operate a more flexible system.

Train

Travel

Exeter St David’s and Exeter Central Stations are about 3 miles from both RD&E Hospital Wonford and Heavitree sites. Stagecoach bus H runs to Wonford from Exeter St Davids and Exeter High Street, which is near Exeter Central Station. They both stop in College Road, opposite RD&E Hospital Heavitree.

You can get to the RD&E Hospital (Wonford) directly by bus from a number of locations. To avoid car parking problems use the Hospital’s Park & Ride Service. This is located at Digby which is near Tesco, Digby railway station and Junction 30 (M5). Follow signs for R D&E Park and Ride.

For patients or visitors travelling by plane to attend the Hospital, the nearest airport is Exeter International Airport. This is located on the outskirts of Exeter. Directions from the airport are as follows:

From the B3184 follow signs for A30, keep going along Honiton Road (A3015/B3183), travel up Heavitree Fore Street, through two sets of traffic lights, keep left at the third set of traffic lights.

Turn left at the fourth set of traffic lights onto Barrack Road. The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital (Wonford site) is on your left.

Accommodation prior to your admission to hospital The RD&E Wonford site is able to offer accommodation prior to your admission date if you are unable to get into hospital for the required admission time. Accommodation can also be offered to your relatives while you are in hospital.

Accommodation is offered at a reasonable rate of £20.50 per person per night. The types of accommodation available are single and double rooms and a self-contained flat. A free Car Parking Permit is supplied for your stay.

Service PR3 operates non-stop from Digby Park & Ride site to the RD&E at Wonford Digby car park is locked at 2230 Alternatively Stagecoach run a number of services to Wonford Hospital and near Heavitree Hospital.

Getting to Wonford Hospital

Car

Stagecoach bus service H runs to Wonford Hospital from the High Street in the City centre Monday to Saturday. Limited Sunday service. They also run to Wonford Hospital from the Broadfields area.

Follow signposts to the hospital from most of the main routes into Exeter. Follow signposts in the hospital grounds to our car parks.

Car parking is by pay & display, so please bring change. The number of spaces is limited, so please give plenty of time to find a space.

Stagecoach buses from Exmouth (57), Dawlish (2), Torbay (X46), Teignmouth (2) and Plymouth (X38) stop next to the Hospital on Barrack Road.

First Southern National bus X53 from Weymouth, Seaton, Beer and Sidford stops next to the Hospital on Barrack Road. Turner’s Tours bus 369 from Chulmleigh, Lapford, Morchard Bishop and Crediton stops next to the Hospital on Barrack Road and outside the main entrance of the Hospital.

Getting to Heavitree Hospital Stagecoach bus service D runs from the City centre and stop in College Road which is opposite Heavitree Hospital.

Car parking The current charges (as from 1 October 2010) for the RD&E on parking at Wonford and Heavitree are as follows: ■ ■ ■ ■

There is free disabled parking near all the main entrances and at car park C (by entrance A at Wonford Hospital). If you display the blue disabled badge in your windscreen you can park for free in our pay and display car parks.
