EDITOR’S REPORT

Some quick notes on this week’s meeting when we presented Robert Cook from the Horizon House foundation with a cheque, promised over a year ago by PP Jack Gallagher.

PP Wayne Smith presented the cheque and included some interest for the late delivery. Congratulations to ‘Cookie’ and his team for the great work they do. And may I say, as a community service club member, it evokes a great pride that the work we do, enjoyed with friends, can see donations made to these great local initiatives. As President Brian was away for the day it was up to PP Hugh Wheeler to take control and he shared the limelight with Sergeant Nic Bannan.

Nic dredged up some history to generate a few fines and then completed his session by fining Rob Cook for being his boss, an opportunity that doesn’t come along to often so seemed to good to miss. Watch out Nic as Cookie has a good memory. PP Wayne Smith was then introduced as the club Treasurer, with acknowledgment to him sharing his initials with the country’s treasurer Wayne Swan.

We had a brief overview of the club’s finances and some explanation of where and when our efforts were directed - from our annual major’s in the Art Show the Christmas Carols and Swap Meet to the car parking, golf day, Penna breakfast and regular BBQs

PRESIDENT Brian Figg

SECRETARY Kaye Graves

- an informative session with some curly questions that WS handled with his usual aplomb. I don’t think there will be a call up to the national job anytime soon Wayne but thanks for your efforts.

Notices from the floor were from Libby Hughes getting in early for the annual Swap Meet roster, start your planning for November 15-18 and put the dates in your diary. Libby needs some site managers, as the training day is in late October, so give it some thought and contact Libby. Marg Paulsen announced she is part of the Bendigo Maubisse East Timor Friendship Committee who are packing a Container on Saturday with Goods bound for there and donations are welcome. See notice included. Cheers, Noel Hobley.

Further notices from President Brian’s report last week are still relevant. We are approaching a very busy and important time of year for the Club – some significant fund-raising events, Car Parking (Beach/Caulfield Cup Saturday 20/10 then Bendigo Club Wednesday 31/10), Operation Cleft Golf Night Event 26/10/12 and Swap Meeting 15-18 November. I urge all members to try and support the coordinators and put up your hand to TREASURER Wayne Smith
